Chapter 1 - The Abandoned Building

"Dad, I'm going out for a bit," Kaliyah says impatiently as she brings her hiking backpack with her. She strides towards the door of her dad's office.

"Come back quickly." His father says as he reads the documents on the desk. They are currently at the military compound and Kaliyah was waiting for her friends so they can proceed with their plan to hike.

"Mhm." Kaliyah did not bother to look back and just went on.

The air is cold due to the heavy rain storm. Seems like their plan will be postponed because of this incoming typhoon. All the gears, snacks and surviving tools and her outfit is put into waste because of this goddamn weather.

She sighed. She will just put this heavy bag to their car and go back to her father's office. When she got near the parking lot, she heard a loud clanging of the bell.

It sounds like a bell from those churches. But it sounds more urgent, more hurried and creepier. The crisp sound of rain and smell of polluted air makes the atmosphere heavy.

With a hint of curiosity, she walk towards the place where the sound is coming from. She found an abandoned building at the center of the parking space. The clanging of the bell seems to be coming from the rooftop.

She frowned, there's not even a single warning sign for falling debris. There are huge cracks and broken windows. You can't even see the inside of the building despite the windows being broken. There was even a huge hole on the wall.

Isn't this building dangerous for the soldiers and citizens who visit this compound? And since when did this building got built in here and why didn't the military officers even put a caution warning?

She continuously walk towards the building. The bell is on the right side part of the building and there's a stair leading to the to the top where the bell is located. She raised her head to look at the bell, but she did not notice anyone pulling the rope for the bell to make a sound.

She furrowed her eyebrow, wondering whose making such noises amidst of the rain and from an abandoned building at that.

Why is a military personnel making such noise and why here on an abandoned building? Her thoughts trailed off as she proceeded to climb the stairs.

when she's about to step on the stair, she noticed a long rope connected to the bell and down to the hole in a pavement. She noticed a horizontal hole on the floor. The rope will loose and then tightened making the bell clang louder. Someone from the basement is pulling the rope.

Kaliyah climbed higher to see what is in the rooftop. The bell keeps clanging beside her. She found chairs and huge cracks with red stains on the wall and the floor, and an abandoned loaded gun. She finds these things unusual.

She pursed her lips, scared that a single misstep might break the floor and make her fall down. She carefully stepped on the cracks and walk towards where the gun is and carefully inspect it.

What's an M4AI doing here? She picked it up and check if it is loaded and it is loaded! Kaliyah frowned. There is also a pistol on the ground, both have red stains and the pistol is loaded with 8 rounds of bullet. She's not dumb to realize the red stains are blood. She looks around and check for a body but found none.

Kaliyah started to get suspicious. She fished out her phone to contact her father about the guns she found here but to her surprise, there is no signal!

It is a military compound! How could there be no signal? And shouldn't the military investigate this place? She was just descending the stairs when a group of soldiers walk passed the building.

Her heart beat wildly. Are they going to scold her now that she trespass to an abandoned building? Is this place even restricted? But there are guns and red stains here and there is no one here except her.

She pursed her lips. Come what may, she thought. The group of soldiers turned towards her and pointed their fingers towards where she's located. Her heart thumped wildly.

Are they going to arrest her? But she's just 16! She's not even an adult yet and her father is also a General. She should not worry about this, no? Crap. She will probably get grounded if she gets into a mess. Considering how strict her father is, he won't let her off the hook.

The soldiers who were supposed to scold her, just passed through the building and hopped into their cars as if the building did not exist. She took the stair case and went down. Her nervousness didn't ease up even for a bit.

Kaliyah turned her head and pursed her lips as she observe the soldiers who were just passing through... And this building... She jumped out when a soldier walk passed her body and she did not even feel it. Holy shit! She thought.

If this building is invisible to the naked eye of the common people, then does that mean she's also invisible within the perimeter of the building? She raised her head and walk several steps away from the building, after a step, she felt the sudden pour of the rain. Her heart beat quickened. She's about to run away from the building when a sudden force sucked her back to where she used to be. She's five steps away from the main door of the building.

She pursed her lips. Her heart beating furiously as she eyed the building. An ominous feeling crept in her chest and a slight shiver made her swallow saliva and she almost choke on it. With how things are, she doesn't think she will be able to leave this place.

It would be better to check what is in there and if she can seek help from someone inside the building. However, what is her assurance that she will be able to get help from someone? What is the guarantee that she will be able to get help instead of getting harm? How can she guarantee she will find someone and seek help?

She shut her eyes and heaved a deep sigh. With a determined look, she took decisive steps and walk towards the building and climbed the stairs where the bell is located. Every step made her extremely nervous from the impending danger surrounding the building. As soon as she gets to the rooftop, she took the M4A1 and the handgun.
