Li Huan and Zhao Fang stumbled through the dark, winding corridors of the old woman's mansion, their hearts racing with fear. The sound of their footsteps echoed off the walls, and the only light came from flickering candles set in sconces along the walls.
Suddenly, they heard a low, creepy chuckle from somewhere ahead of them. They froze, their hearts pounding in their chests. They had been hearing those chuckles for what felt like hours, but they had never been able to locate their source.
"Come out, you old witch!" Zhao Fang shouted into the darkness.
There was no response, only more chuckles, louder this time. Li Huan and Zhao Fang exchanged a look of terror before breaking into a run.
They sprinted down the corridor, their footsteps echoing loudly in the silence. Suddenly, they burst through a door and found themselves in a small, quiet room. The only light came from a single candle on a table in the center of the room.
