Chapter 11 - Birth of the Aura Sword Arts

When Ray told them to head into the building, they didn't think twice before doing so.

After two minutes of running at their top speed, they finally got into the bungalow which had been left wide open, most probably by the occupants when evacuating the area.

They opened the window which faced the direction where they had arrived from, hence it faced the ongoing battle.

Just a few seconds later, they both heard a sob coming from the kitchen.

Slowly, they began tracing the source of this sob and ended up in a bedroom with a locked door, which after much persuasion got opened by a ten-year-old boy who was covered in tears and snort.

After comforting him and making him feel better, they took him with them to the window as they didn't want to miss much of the fight.

They told him to sit on a small chair so he wouldn't see the fight, but he insisted on watching.

So just like that, the three of them watched the fight in awe. But now, something just happened which made them uneasy.

"Why did it glance towards us?" The brown hair girl said, with a horror-filled face.

The little boy's eyes were beginning to get teary.

"Don't worry, he won't let anything bad happen to us." The blond-haired girl said with an assured smile and suddenly, the abyssal charged towards them.

Seeing this, the boy broke down in tears and the brown-haired girl felt both her heart and legs knocking, but the blonde-haired girl didn't flinch and had a calm expression on her face, even though she noticed Ray was yet to move.

Ray watched the beast charge towards them as a sigh escaped from his lips, "I warned you."

A golden aura began to slightly emanate from his body.

"It's time to end this."

Ray could be seen seated in front of an old man with long white hair and a beard who stared at him with his pitch-black eyes.

"What is the problem, son?" The old man at least in his sixties said to the dejected Ray.

"Sensei, as you already know, I went through the aberration process and came out successful," he voiced out.

"Hasn't that been your dream? To join the Sentry, become an aberrant, and find a way out of here, back to your family?" The old man asked in confusion.

"Yes, but my powers, the ability I possess, they say it's really special but I don't think so.

Although it boosts my physical performances further and it's good for defense, I can't produce any attack from it," he complained.

He wanted to be a sword but he ended up as a shield instead.

What was the need for going into battle, only being able to defend yourself, without having the ability to claim the life of your opponent?

With the kind of life he wanted for himself in Euthopia, this was a very serious problem.

"Can I see this ability?" the old man requested, and without thinking twice, Ray stood up, creating some distance between them.

He wiggled his body while hopping, and let out some breeze from his mouth.

His sensei chuckled at this action.

A golden glow emanated from his body. Although it wasn't too bright and pronounced, it was still there.

"So you mean that this aura is like an extra skin that offers you defense?"

Ray nodded in response.

His sensei walked towards a weapon stand picking up a staff. "Don't evade," he said, as Ray nodded a little hesitant because he didn't like his sensei's method of teaching sometimes.

His sensei arced his hand backward before throwing the staff with great force towards him.

The staff went through his aura, but when it made contact, the force was greatly reduced, so it only had the force of an average punch.

Something that could have caused him to spit blood.

"Hmmmm! Even though it's still in its weak stage, it can still protect that much. Impressive," he sensei praised.

"It doesn't make any difference," Ray spat.

The old man was in deep thought before something crossed his mind.

"Pick up the staff."

"Huh?" Ray looked at him in confusion.

"Pick it up!" Ray bent down picking the staff.

"Good. Now try to spread your aura to the staff."

If it was another person, Ray would have stared at them as if they were dumb, but he knew his sensei was far from that.

He stared at the staff as his body began to glow. His eyebrows furrowed as he tried to extend the glow. After five minutes there was no success.

"It isn't working," he said in disappointment as the glow faded. "Why am I trying to do this again?"

His sensei picked up a spear from the weapon stand. "Now imagine this," he said demonstrating.

"I have the ability to summon fire around myself. Controlling this fire around my body might not be possible. But then I have a weapon, for example, the spear I have in my hands, and I'm able to spread my flames into this weapon. I can input a greater amount of flames to make it burn brighter and reduce it to make it burn weaker. I can also make the flames spin around to produce another effect."

"Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"

Ray believed he understood what he meant. "You mean to say controlling my aura with the help of a medium is much easier?"

"Yes. So if you can do this, it will be a turning point from your pitiful state, and I'm sure your aura is much more complicated than a flame, so you can be able to produce a much greater result."

Ray nodded in understanding, this would be a turning point.

He stared at the wooden stick much more intensely than a merchant would stare at a diamond.

"Don't just think of it as a staff. Feel it as an extension of your body."

Ray closed his eyes with a calm expression as he listened to his sensei's words.

"Just like your arms and legs, feel the stick has already merged with you, and move your aura through it."

After two minutes, Ray felt something and slowly opened his eyes. Lo and behold, nothing happened.

"Damn it! I knew it wouldn't work," he cursed.

"Neither did I," his sensei said casually.

"Huh?" Ray stared at him blankly.

"The normal teaching method never works on you, it seems like you prefer the other method," he said with a mischievous grin.

Ray stared at him in confusion, which turned into dread.

"Wai-." He was already too late as his sensei had already hurled the spear towards him.

As a reflex action, his aura surrounded him as he used the stick to hit the spear away.

"What was that for? Are you trying to murder me!" he screamed in fury still having not recovered from the shock.

"It seems like it was worth it," his sensei smiled looking at the staff in his hands.

Due to the shock and the anger he wasn't able to feel it before but now he realized it.

He slowly looked at the staff on his hand and could see that it was covered with the same aura around his body

A tear drop rolled down from his eyes as he stared at the staff. He was able to do it. If he's able to use his powers to perfection, then he could achieve his dream.

"Remember that feeling and make it a regular thing you can do, such as running and breathing. I'll teach you everything I can and together, we'll create the best fighting techniques the world has ever seen."

Ray nodded in gratitude as he moved the staff around his hands.

"But first, you're going to have to choose which type of weapon you'd be using. Knowing you, it isn't going to be a staff."

Ray gave it some thought, although he already knew what he was going to choose.

"A sword."

His master nodded in approval of his decision.

"So what are we going to call this technique we would be creating?" Ray asked.

"I think I have something nice," his sensei smiled.

Present day,

Remembering the birth of his sword techniques, a smile appeared on his face.

The streaks around his sword were glowing brightly with the black sword and himself engulfed in a golden aura.

He stared at the abyssal which was halfway to the girls' position as some words left his lips.

"Aura swords arts, third form, light beam!"
