"Hey, Charlie. You'd remain on duty today," a man howled.

"Huh? But sir I was on duty yesterday and the day before. It's not fair." A younger man complained with a frown.

The older man leaned forward, as though he hadn't heard what he said.

"Huh? What was that? You want to look for another job?" The younger man knew what he was implying, so he could only grit his teeth and walk away.

"Such a moron," he snorted.

"Sir. Come check this out." A voice was heard form within a room.

"What is it?" The man asked, walking in.

After staring at a screen for some time, he voiced out. "A meteor is heading towards here and this one is quite big. Contact the Defense Office for permission to engage," He commanded.

After a minute he got an affirmation.

"Prepare to launch the missiles."

Series of buttons were pressed as a hatch opened in another area of the large facility.

A large missile rose slowly from the hatch.

"I must say sir, this meteor looks strange. It's not like anything I've seen. Should I proceed?" After giving it some thought, he made his decision.

"Proceed."

He pressed the button which was followed with a countdown.

The missile launch into the air towards the meteor.

After some seconds a large explosion was created. But to their dismay, the meteor only had a little part of it broken out, and was now being pulled by the Earth's gravitational force.

"Release more!" He panicked as more missiles were being sent out, not only by them but also by neighbouring countries.

But even with all that. The meteor still failed to be destroyed, only continuously losing some chunks until.....

"My—God."
