Chapter 16 - Attracting unwanted attentions

Ray felt dizzy with his hand being numb. He was sure that the rod he was using had been completely destroyed.

He was relieved that she wasn't coming after him anymore. He still wondered how she was able to become so strong in such a short time.

After some time, he walked out of the shop. The first thing that came into sight was the destruction their final attack had caused.

Which affected everything within a 50-meter radius.

With an innocent expression, he whistled back towards the place where Sylph and Fiona's secretary stood.

A sigh escaped his lips as he saw the limousine was no longer there.

'At least they could've let me ride it.'

Instead, there was a black hatchback waiting for him. He glared at Fiona's secretary who seemed oblivious to what had happened.

"Please enjoy your ride," she gestured towards the hatchback.

With a snort, Ray entered the car. He glanced at Sylph who had already entered to see her eyes closed, before looking at the driver.

"Let's go."

The man started the car and their journey began.

It was a very silent journey, Sylph had her eyes closed with slow steady breaths since the beginning while Ray kept staring through the window, it was obvious that he had a lot on his mind.

The driver, on the other hand, focused on driving more than he had ever done in his entire life. The reason for this was because of the woman behind him. He had never imagined that he would meet someone so beautiful.

He was completely frozen when he saw her enter into the car, and even now he tried his best not to look at the rear-view mirror because if he did so one more time, they would end up having an accident.

He wondered how the young man beside her hadn't lost his mind.

After 30 minutes of torturous driving which wasn't caused by the road, he finally arrived at their destination.

"Young sir and miss, this is the place."

They all came down from the car and as expected, he froze up when his gaze fell on her beauty. She was staring at the 20-storey building so he believed that she didn't notice his stare.

But he felt Ray's gaze causing him to snap out. He walked sheepishly to Ray.

"Here are you're room keys, two rooms on the seventeenth floor, room number 70 and 71," he said, handing out two keys to him.

Ray nodded as he and Sylph walked into the building. Even after they had entered he kept staring at the entrance before shaking his head.

"God help that young man."

Driving was one of the most respected jobs in Euthopia as they were few unlike the outside world.

But today it was more of a torture. He hoped he would never have to drive someone like that again unless there would surely be an accident.

He entered the car before driving off.

********************************

Ray and Sylph walked towards the elevator at the end of the hall and as expected, everyone's attention and gaze were fixed on them.

Sylph had an impassive had an impassive expression on her face while Ray as always behaved as though they were inexistent not paying the slightest attention to them.

Even the receptionist who wanted to attend to them was star-struck.

They both entered the elevator as the door slid close, causing everyone to come back to their senses.

"Who the hell were those?"

"You mean what the hell were those? I doubt they're regular humans."

"Hey! Receptionist, which room are they staying in?"

"Yes, tell us."

The receptionist who was now being questioned by many people was beginning to feel nervous as their expression turned more sour the longer she took to respond.

"I-I-I don't know," she stammered.

"What do you mean!"

"Don't mess with us."

"Arrhhh! I wasn't able to get a picture."

"Me neither."

"Say, don't you think that guy looks like morning star?"

"Yeah, and I think he's the real deal."

"Maybe we should wait, they might come out again."

While this was happening a silhouette who was standing in a dark corner had a grin on his face.

********************************

Ray and Sylph who weren't aware of the ruckus their presence had caused had just located their rooms.

"Here." Ray handed over the key to room 70 which was on the right-hand side before walking to room 71 which was opposite to it.

"I think we should rest today and commerce the mission tomorrow."

She nodded in response and walked into her room shutting the door.

Ray also proceeded to walk into his room.

The room was quite large with all the basic things needed for a self-contained accommodation.

He walked from the living room into the bedroom before dropping the bag and sword and lying down.

After a short nap, he showered and changed his clothes.

He was now dressed in a white T-shirt, black cargo trousers, and a black hoody with sand shoes.

He decided to check out the neighborhood and maybe have a peek at the forest.

Coming out of his room he headed for the elevator.

He walked out of the elevator noticing that the number of people had tripled than when they had come in.

He didn't put much attention to this but he knew that the number of people had decreased with the passing hours.

If he had come out thirty minutes after he had arrived, he would've seen 10 times the present population here.

Some people gave him weird stares as he walked past, cause of his suspicious looks.

Ray didn't know that most of the people here were waiting for them to come out.

He was even beginning to hear some whispers.

"Are you sure that's not him?"

"Yeah, I have to admit it, they're both around the same height."

"And he also has a nice body structure."

Ray hoped that he wouldn't be approached by anyone so that he won't make a scene, but it seemed that this wish won't be granted.

"Hey!"

A man stood in front of Ray with a scowl, "Are you the pretty boy they've been talking about?"

Ray shifted slightly to walk past him but he also shifted standing directly in front of him.

"I remember asking a question, take off that damn hood," he demanded.

"For your good, you better move aside," Ray said softly.

"Huh? I see, you must be him. Cause I haven't seen anyone with the guts to talk to me like that unless an ignorant, young, and foolish boy who thinks he's a hot shot just because he has pretty looks."

"Let me inform you for your good, I'm the brother of the man who runs this town," he said with a grin on his face seeing the hooded man in front of him remained quiet.

He believed that he had learned his place and proceeded with the next step, taking off the hood.

He stretched his hand towards the hood on Ray's head.

When his hand was 10 centimeters away, Ray grabbed it stopping his movement.

The man was furious by this daring act, he had never been disrespected in public after his brother got to the status he was today which was one year ago.

He tried moving his hand forward but it didn't budge. Ray could easily break his hand, but he had to consider some things.

He had just arrived here hours ago and didn't want to draw too much attention and create enmity with the so-called man who runs the town. If what the man in front of him had said were true.

"You bastard, what do you….." Ray placed his right leg behind the man pushing him slightly causing him to trip without being able to finish his statement.

He fell butt first while Ray exited the building.

Some people were able to hold their laughter while daring ones busted into laughter mostly hiding their faces so he won't recognize them later on.

His face turned red in embarrassment and anger, as the laughter echoed in his head.

It had been a long time since he had faced any form of embarrassment but here he was, sitting on his butt.

He quickly got up, stamping towards the building's entrance but when he exited the building, he couldn't find him.

"Where's that bastard!!" He screamed in fury as people who were passing by looked at him as if he was crazy.

He swore in his heart to uncover the identity of the man who had done this to him.

****************************

Ray who was long gone was strolling through the neighborhood, which although wasn't as developed as the neighborhood and towns of the capital city of the southwest, which was where he resided and where their base was located, it wasn't bad either.

He noticed the number of people in the area was small, which was most likely because they fled after the appearance of the abyssal.

After strolling for some minutes, he finally saw something which caught his attention.
