Chapter 45 - Exercise power

Kissa stood up from her bed with arms folded across her chest. "And after that, what can I help you with?"

Lapis looked down at Cairo and he walked out of the room, running into Sabola who bowed to greet him.

"Good morning." She said.

"Good morning." He bowed back. "High Lady Lapis is in there so you might not want to enter for now."

Gold heard what he said through Sabola's ears and he immediately stood up from where he laid and in a few minutes, he got to Kissa's room where Lapis was still.

Lapis was grabbing her arm harshly when she saw Gold, she almost jumped out of her skin.

Lapis gently let go of Kissa's arms. "I'm warning you Kissa. If Asim knows about your affairs with him. You'll be in deep trouble and he'll be beheaded immediately."

Kissa didn't say a word, she just stared nonchalantly at Lapis. The look was telling her that when she was done, she can get the hell out of her room.

Lapis turned to leave after glancing at Gold who was still glaring daggers at her.

As soon as Lapis left, Sabola walked in. The first person she saw was Gold. She raised a brow to question him but he didn't even reply her.

Cairo soon left his work position and returned to his room to change. It was his day off and he planned to use it wisely.

As he dressed, he noticed the eagle sitting at his window sill. He walked to it and removed the scroll behind it.

"Immediately after their harvest week, they'll strike. This is the last message I'm sending to you your highness."

Cairo patted the eagle's head and it flew away. Cairo dropped the scroll in his bag before walking out of the room.

As he did, the royals were already leaving the palace. He then noticed Nubia wasn't following them this time.

He and Kissa made eye contact before the carriage was carried out of the palace and Cairo left for his destination.

Despite the harvest going on, some people who aren't farmers opened their stalls to sell to other people.

"Cairo." Someone called him and he waved slightly before walking to the weapon shop.

"It's you again son. How may I help you this time?" The old man asked.

"The arrows you said will be arriving for you today. Are they here?" Cairo asked and the man brought out a sack.

"Here they are son." The old man said and Cairo opened the sack and took out the content.

"Sweet." He smirked as he removed a Ruby from the bag around his waist and gave it to the man. "Thank you. Do you have any poison for arrows?"

"Yes son. Give me a moment." The old man walked out of the store into the house when someone appeared next to Cairo and he recognized that voice anywhere.

"So what are you doing here?" Lapis asked as she picked a bow. "Are those arrows? Do you have a thing for archery too?"

"Why is it your business?" Cairo asked as he strapped the arrows on his back.

"Stop acting all cold towards me Cairo. If it's because of Kissa, it won't hurt to at least talk nicely." Lapis frowned as the old man walked in.

"Here you go son. How may I help you miss?" The old man asked and Lapis dropped some coins on the table as she picked some arrows and walked away.

"Thank you very much." Cairo smiled as he walked away from the place.

Cairo walked over to Layla's house and pulled the door open before walking in. He opened all the curtains before sitting at a table and he pulled out a small box from under the table.

Kissa sat under her tent really bored. She didn't know coming out like this could bore someone sometimes. She preferred the comfort of her own room where she wasn't watching people trying to impress her.

"Are you okay my lady?" Sabola asked and she nodded as she rested her back.

"Wake me when it's time for lunch." Kissa said and she nodded.

Back in the village, Cairo walked out of Layla's house with the arrows no longer on him.

He walked back into the market in the village when a young lady called him and he looked at her.

"Oh hey." He smiled as he walked over to her stall. She turned to make him some wine as he sat down.

"So what are you up to Cairo?" She asked with her voice filled with pure Egyptian accent.

"Well, nothing much." He replied as he took the wine she handed to him.

"That's my new wine. I call it sparkling water." She said with pride. "Well, it isn't actually water, I just call it sparkling water because it is sparkling."

"I get." He chuckled as he took a sip from the wine and it did take intoxicating and delicious.

He knew her to be someone who tried new wine mixtures each passing day. Although almost all of her experiments doesn't end up well, she's able to create a few wine of her own already.

Cairo sipped the wine gently as he tired to get his thoughts together. She saw that and decided to leave him alone. Besides, her wine shop was named drink and think.

"I have just a few days Layla." Cairo said in his head.

"Well, utilize the few days. Tell Kissa to start preparing and prepared her for what she might meet with in future." Layla replied in his head. "For now, don't disturb me at all. I need some rest from thinking and thinking."

"I'm scared Layla, what if she gets killed?" Cairo asked.

"Then you'll have to exercise your power before they do so. Show them the reason you're the crown prince."
