Guess I'm awake for now, blurry images of last night hit me hard on my bed making me slip off the bed to the floor. My gun was still in my hand but my knife fell over, no one told me a few days ago that I'd be killing half-dead humans but what a surprise. What a wonderful surprise indeed.
Trying to analyze all of the previous evening is just an understatement. I pick up the book and notice the book has red writing on the first page, almost like blood or blood I must say.
Touching it would make it more realistic but what if I don't touch it at all, would that change a fact? The writing says "nice work, on your first day you got a four-soul deal to cover up for the next three days and the previous night. Good job! Find the orb.
You're the only one left in this region " I'm just nothing but puzzled right now, okay what does "only one in this region mean? " there's more. That's sad news, maybe in this game, I'll have more of us to kill. Whoever we are.
I just get up and realize they wrote in the book not me as a person. I sit on the bed and look around for any source of a portal like a circle but none around. Call me illusional but the sight of a new dagger gives me more confidence inside.
Time to take a quick shower before the regular day finding now shall we?
After a quick shower, I move to the room again and I put my gun in my belt, I cover it with my shirt. Placing a knife in my belt is tricky but who am I to judge right now?
Letting myself reflect on the previous findings pulls me to look at the map in the book. I just found the nine pages are eight and the ninth one is a map. So why ten days when eight pages are for writing, seven that is? This is quite confusing.
I move out to the reception and I look around, I find no one near. I push the door and see the receptionist holding a gun. I thought he said I was the only one in the region.
She runs for me and I shoot her in the heart, she falls flat to the ground and dies, I think. I run for the car and get in before anyone tries to get a glance of my face to the cops for further investigation.
Lord am I thankful I'm outta town so no cameras anywhere.
Still on the road for three hours straight now, I feel a rumble in my tummy and I see a cafe close to the road by the right. I act normal and get in, I order a cup of coffee with pancakes and regular syrup.
Within three minutes I get my order and I dig into my food and swallow hard I'm sure the person sitting close to me could hear it so well. I finish it off and I pay the lady but I notice it's a man dressed as a lady.
I just walk off quickly to the car and drive off at full speed, I definitely will not be shooting another human within a two-mile or a-mile radar for now I guess.
I reach a town called Raven, which looked nice and a bit like the country to me. Prayed hard for a nice motel around and I saw one, it was 4:56 pm already and I found nothing today.
I get to a river close by and notice a difference in the water, a part darker than the other. I'd never seen anything like it in my entire life, it looked like a strange thing.
Suddenly I notice the stone on the book and I pull it out, I pace around the riverine diversity. It brings out a sea shell with a white covering. I pick it up and walk towards the car after a quick survey, an eye survey that is.
Driving on I see a guy with grey hair, I mean Zeus got nothing on this motherfucker at all not a bit. He looked too godly by the body at his age. I'm sure he was In his late sixties but what I didn't notice earlier was the tattoo on his arm, it looked exactly like the one in front of the book.
This is quite mystical if you ask me precisely, I really by all means tried to understand how I'm seeing the same man walk past me for the third time now.
Once might be a mistake, twice a common coincidence but thrice going on fourth must be something serious. I for one thing thought this dude had extra twins.
I looked at him slowly as I slowed down the car, he turned his head towards me and removed his dark-shaded eyewear. I wish I didn't see this at all, he looked like his soul ran away leaving him here wandering alone.
He had black lenses for this yes and red were they. ? also noticed I've driven on the go same road and lane for the past 30 minutes. How is this possible? Next thing I'm not seeing this dude anymore rather he's at the front.
The trees look the same and also the signboards. I stopped the car and stepped out, I look around and saw writing on one of the boards saying "welcome to Raven, home of the rephrased, you're always welcome. It's not like you can leave anyway" this had an old saying to it but I couldn't place it.
Soon after I see the same man walking close to me again, I'm guessing he's the keeper of the place. Someone once said what you don't know will never kill you. Well, right now I wish I never saw the sign cause now he's coming for me and I know it.
He brings out a knife and runs towards me, it's all dreams and skies when I look at him and my surrounding but I wonder if I'll ever leave this place.
Then it came to me that the actual position I stood at had human bones all over the place. How come I didn't see it before? I guess this guy places you under a spell before killing the victim. That's why no one tries to find the orb.
I cut his hand a little, I expect it to fall but instead, he gets up again and runs faster, I slip into the car and drive faster now knowing full well what he's capable of in this situation at hand.
I see a new road and follow it, every road I pass turns out to be darker than the last one I experienced. Well, this had white trees all over, I felt like the acid had this effect on me but again who am I to judge?
I reach a house in the woods noticing no one around it too. Everyone knows a house in the wood is no good so I continue driving as far as I can. I noticed the see you again poster, I knew I had my head out of Raven never to return for sure.
AT THE CAFE
"Can I get you anything to drink sir? " the waitress asked "yes please, I'd like a large cola and fries with ketchup " deeply lost in my thoughts and made me forget about the hunger that brought me here.
As I eat my dinner by 9:18 pm I realise I've got seven days more to deliver the orb. I know it doesn't sound right but the pages now correspond with the days.
I look around the lunch house and I see a grumpy old lady with a cat by her side. I turn away from all unattractive thoughts at all times. Soon after I look behind me one more time and I notice the old lady is now a young attractive woman and the cat, well missing.
"looking for something sugar? " she asks "I'm April by the way" I'm just nothing but extra puzzled at this. "I'm Jake and you practice magic?" she smiles and says "I know about the orb you're looking for Jake, sorry the keeper found you. He's been at it for years upon years. " the interest in my soul builds up even more when she tells me about the things I never knew.
"Really? Can you help me with it? "I ask with all seriousness in me. "I can but when we find it, you must destroy it and not deliver it to him. If he gets it then all is lost" her response gives me a twirl in my brain cause I never felt like it was bad but then a hidden face is no good at all.
"thank you " I show some gratitude for once. "we need to leave now" just like a soldier following the commander's orders I obey her and we leave for the car.
As we leave I notice the waitress making a call and the last thing I could hear was "they're coming ". This shot up some kind of awareness in me, making me shiver in fear and discomfort. April notices this and says "once you're signed up to look for that orb, you're a target for him and anyone else that has an idea of what it is", "wait so he tries to kill you while he sends you, what a mastermind" I speak fluent sarcasm might I add.
She sits in the passenger's seat and I drive away in the direction she gives. I don't know why I'm trusting this girl, I mean Mary tank got me here in the first place but April seems different from all those I've seen. More beautiful, more intelligent, wise, smart, alluring you know the type of love to take home with me.
I had to give this time, just in between my thoughts she speaks to me" I'm a Caster, a light caster. I know the story of the so-called keeper and his missions. It all started when he was at the turning point of choosing between light and darkness, his nature already evil came out eventually. He hated it and tried to reverse it all, which of course is impossible for anyone or the caster as a whole. Still, he tried.
His parents warned him, his friends and even his family. He took his powers and made a spell for himself, he cursed himself unknowingly to himself and the entire caster family.
The only cure to his curse is the brown orb you seek. "
I now understand the whole thing but ask again "but a young lady?.. " "that was him, he's a shapeshifter Jake " she renounces any form of confusion I tried to imagine.
I got a doubt in mind "why kill the ones he sends? " "his dark nature" she answers as she created him herself.
We both get to a motel, she draws out her guns. I never knew she had any around her until she drew them out. She steps out leaving me swiftly and she shoots at the man at the gate, he dies.
"why'd you do that? He's just a guard and I thought you said you were for light ?" "no one besides me is your actual friend. "
I kept shut and bring out my only gun, she turns and laughs "for a seeker you've got one gun only? That's a shame but have this" she hands me a gun.
"no offence but how many guns do you have on you if I may ask? " she just smiles and walks into the motel. We get a room and get into it.
"Why didn't you kill that girl? " she looks at me in all-around glory and states purely "she's not a caster or with the keeper, she's a normal human Jake " "how do you know and who is the keeper to you anyway? "
"he's my brother Jake " I felt like I just drew her into a dark hole with my question. I'm quite inquisitive and I know it.
Bummer.....
