I serve my brother his black coffee and go back to the dining table with my own cup with a dash of milk and sugar. A moment passes where we're just sipping coffee and looking at nothing in particular. I guess we both need the silence.

But when he sighs again—the fifth time since he arrived—I turn my chair to face him. "Okay. Something else is bothering you. What's up? Is it Regina? Gabby? Where is she, by the way? Your wife."

Spencer rubs his finger at his bottom lip as if he's thinking and then begins telling me about his morning with his wife. Apparently, he walked out of their hotel room after the phone call. He told her about his mother but held himself back because he didn't want to open a can of worms that had no business being in his life after so many years.

"And you're…guilty because you walked away?"
