"Mama. When are you coming home?" Gianna's frown on our video call inflicts a pang on my chest. I touch her cheeks on my screen, wishing I could embrace her right now. This little angel is part of me that if she's too far away, I feel incomplete.
"I'll be home in the morning," I reassure her with a smile.
Her lips form a pout, so cute, I miss her even more. "Can't you come tonight?"
"Mama's working at the moment. I promise I'll be there when you wake up, so go to bed now. Time is faster when you sleep."
"Promise?"
"I promise. Be good to Ms. May, okay?"
She sighs. "Okay."
"Goodnight, my love."
"I love you, mama. Bye!"
"Love you too, my little star." I blow her a kiss before ending the call, a long sigh escaping from me when my screen goes dark and I no longer see her face. It sucks being away.
