"I thought so too." He squeezes my hip.
"Then what are we doing?"
He pulls back, his green eyes darkening. "I honestly don't know, Lia. I tried to stop thinking about you and failed. I can still taste you on my tongue and I want more." His gaze is on my lips and they tingle, aching for him to kiss me there. "Tell me how to stop."
"Maybe I don't want you to."
Giovanni snaps his eyes up to meet mine, the lines on his face go hard like he's struggling. "I already told you I don't do relationships."
"And I already told you I'm not looking for one."
"I'm your employer. This is inappropriate."
"Hasn't stopped you before."
His chuckle is dark; it sounds pleasing to my ears. "I gave you the choice to stop me and you didn't, little sparrow."
"That's right. I didn't want you to. Just like I don't want you to stop now."
"Do you know what you're asking me, Malia?"
"Yes."
