Mordin was almost done burying the body. Seronn pointed the gun at him and asked him. Do you know what this is ? He asked Mordin. Yes, I know what this is, replied Mordin. Mordin came out of the pit and stood in front of Seronn. This is what my brother held against me when I was much younger . It was the first time that I had seen a gun in my life . And now there I was a very young man, having his gun pointed at me. At first I did not take it seriously because it was my brother. But then he started to threaten me. He said that he was having these dreams. And these dreams kept painting me in bad light , that I was some kind of evil being! I pleaded with him that he got his head all twisted up and that these are just dreams. But he did not want to hear anything I said. He wanted to kill me and stop these dreams from coming again! I tried calming him down, but my efforts were up to no good. His eyes are not his own anymore , I could see that . They turned pale and dry. He looked at me one final time and she shot me right here , said Seronn to Mordin. Pointing at his chest , right here. Pop! He said . And the way he said it terrified even Mordin. He left me there thinking I was dead and ran away. He was so scared my brother that he did not even look back at me to see if was bleeding.
So , when I met him at home for dinner he was shocked. I still don't know to this day , if he was relieved or not to see me. But one thing we knew. That we would not be seeing each other ever again. You are no normal being, he uttered to me. He had his dinner and when everyone was asleep he packed his bags and he left for someplace far away. That was the last time we ever saw him. And that night and every night for the next few weeks I wondered if I was normal. Whether my brother was right, whether I was evil. My parents cried at losing my brother , as their hopes waned and dried. They became bitter as the truth dawned upon them. That their child will not be home anytime soon, maybe never . While their heart was filled with contempt, I was happy that I had mine intact. When they looked at his photo and cried, I swam in joy. You see Mordin, was it my fault that I was born this way . Born in the other side of light? He asked Mordin. It's best I stick to the digging boss, replied Mordin and continued cementing up the hole. After he was done, Mordin and Seronn walked back to the house
Did you ever find him boss ? Asked Mordin. Who , my brother ? Asked Seronn back. Yes , a few decades later. He was living in the suburbs of a small city. He had a family. A son or two , I don't remember. Did you kill him? Asked Mordin. Seronn paused his steps. I rang the door bell and there was his wife who had opened the door. I went in telling her who i was . She was more than happy to see me and I figured that my brother has not told her about his past or he has twisted it some way that they can all live together in peace . I sat there in the living room and there came down my brother. From up the stairs of his pristine home. He had done well for himself , it had looked like. He did not recognise who i was. And when told him about that I was in fact his brother. He collapsed on the couch. He started seating and panting and words were trying to escape his mouth, but none poured out. So I pointed the gun the same way he did when I was a child. His wife was terrified and she begged me not to do anything to her husband. Did you kill him boss? Asked Mordin. No, I left the gun on the table and left his house. They continued to walk towards their home. But Mordin could not keep silent and he asked him why he did not kill him. Because When I pointed the gun at him I saw the walls of the house , they had paintings of my parents and his new family together. They were happy, all of them in those pictures. And then I saw his wife , she had cried a river. Her eyes were almost out and I knew that if he died, she would not survive. Do you love him? I asked her. She sobbingly said Yes , yes . Very much so! Then I saw the pictures again because something struck me that point of time. Everyone in the photo was happy except my brother! He was serious in the paintings. What does that mean? there seems to be no reason to let him live, said Mordin. You see Mordin , at that point of time I realised that it was better to let him live than die . He was in a family that loved him , but he did not love back. They were happy and be was not . And I knew that he would not leave them, he would rather stay there his whole life in that unhappy marriage. That I thought was more suffering than I ever could give him, said Seronn. And why he would not leave this family , because he thought that he would return home if he lost his family! And that was the last thing he wanted to do. So, He hung on to them because he had nothing else to leap towards. A man broken, just like many here , Mordin. A man broken like who cannot escape who he really was. A man who was Abandoned. Terrible! Said Mordin.
