Chapter 38 - Traitor?

A short dark woman wearing huge rubber boots and a weaved sun shade hat that almost covered her eyes, stormed into the office with a rake on her hand, breathing profusely. From her appearance it was obvious she was busy with some farm work before the Young Man who obviously, barged into the office uninvited before her caught her attention. Though in a rude manner!

"I'm so sorry sir, I tried to stop him but he wouldn't budge." She apologized to her boss who seemed mesmerized by the presence of the young man in a stylish suit and a familiar appearance.

"it's fine, you can continue with work" Nich dismissed the woman who nodded in appreciation as she left, dragging the dirty rake along with her. Thankfully, he wasn't mad at her.

Mama Gina wasn't sure if she should have left her wonderful boss with the handsome trouble maker which she tried to stop earlier. She had made it clear to him that her boss wasn't ready to give anyone audience but he was too stubborn headed and forced his way in.

'should I have called the security men?' she thought while walking towards her working position. But then, his appearance looked responsible and he did look a rich fellow too. She shrugged on the idea. "He can't be off harm..." she turned and rolled her eyes at the door. "pftt! impatient brat!"

"James?" Nich furrowed his eyes as he closed the record book he was examining before the intruder walked in. No, actually - BARGED in.

'What the heck is he doing here? obviously he isn't here for any apology since he looked like he was going to tear someone apart....' Nich thought as he studied his face with a kind of surprised glare.

James frowned as he moved closer, away from the door and towards his enemy. Placing his already agile hands on the chair handle, he lifted his face and gave Nich an angry look. His eyes shooting bullets. "I can't believe you stooped so low inorder to get back at me".

Nich Smiled in a silly way. 'I wonder what game it is this time. What wrong have I done again? James never ceases to amaze me with his silly talks'.

"I don't know what you're talking about" he relaxed his back on the chair and replied in a cold tone. This time, he wasn't smiling anymore.

James let out a nasty chuckle "I'm just disappointed, I'm finding out now, who you truly are. Traitor!" he barked and pushed the chair away.

He raised his body fully to reveal his intimidating height then lowered himself again by stretching his hands on the metal desk, his eyes filled with irritation.

"Traitor?... I thought I was worst than that." Nich scoffed as he narrowed his brows, trying hard to control his anger. He smiled weirdly afterwards.

"How dare you steal my client?" James shouted since Nich's smile irritated him.

"what client? can you just stop ranting?" Nich grinned.

"will you just cut the pretence? How can you steal Mr Judy away?" James yelled again but this time, he was standing beside Nich, dragging him by the collar.

"Get your hands off me!" Nich pushed him aside. "What on earth are you talking about?"

Nich couldn't comprehend what James was saying. Mr Judy did invest in his Cash crop farm but why was James saying he stole him away? it's not like he bribed the man or something!

"how can you not know what I'm talking about? will you pretend about this too? you fucking stole Judy away and took an offer that was supposed to be mine!" James yelled slamming his hands on the table.

"I didn't steal anyone from you. Mr Judy offered me a deal and I took it. How am I supposed to know he was your client?" Nich spoke calmly this time.

He could now understand the misunderstanding. James must have thought he stole his investor. Everything seemed to sink in now.

"Just shut up! you're a liar... breaking our friendship wasn't a bad idea after all" He spoke coldly, his fingers pointed at Nich.

'James is a mess! really? he thinks I'm capable of backstabbing him? see who values friendship, huh?...' Nich rolled his eyes at him.

"you can leave. I don't remember agreeing to give you audience." Nich stood up briskly. Honestly, James had forced himself into his office, did he not?

He was tired with this conversation already and was afraid were all these were leading to. He didn't want James and himself to continue attacking each other that way. If they were enemies, then it's fine. They should remain peaceful enemies.

"off course! I'm not supposed to be in this God forsaken place." James chuckled. "You would regret this! wait for my revenge".

Nich didn't realize he was holding his breathe until James left, slamming the door hard and loud.

He jerked from the noise and sat gently on his seat while reconceptualizing on what just transpired.

"why would Mr Judy offer me a contract that was meant for James? His company is way stable than mine. I only grow an orchard... I'm not even well established yet. But he did prefer to sign a deal with me than Crystals? is this about something I don't know?" He muttered as he found it difficult to organize the puzzle.

He thought of asking Mr Judy about it but on a second thought.... "nah...i can't afford to breach the contract. Mr Judy would help me establish and even increase my chances in the market. My clothing company would be standard thanks to him. James is probably having a hard time with his Angel and is just putting the blame blindly on me" he concluded as he closed his eyes for a nap.

Who did think their relationship would be this sour? to the extent that each others presence detest the other? but then, Nich wasn't at fault, was he? James was probably too blind to read the writings on the wall.

The door opened thereby disrupting his shallow nap.

He smiled wearily at her.

"Isn't that James I saw flouncing towards the exit?" Joy asked as she lowered a tray of cheese on the table.

"Nah...that can't be James" Nich answered, an unsure look on his face.

He still couldn't believe that James, the real James he's know since childhood walked out that door.

"That can't be him..." he repeated chewing the cheese with sadness.
