Chapter 8 - Chapter Eight YOU DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER.

"Monica!!" Miss Sophia, The literature teacher called Monica after watching her for ten minutes.

"Monica!!" Miss Sophia called again while walking up to Monica who was still standing at the doorpost of the class, completely lost in thought.

"Monica!!" Miss Sophia called again while waving her right palm in front of Monica's face.

"What the fuck Is wrong with her?? Why Is she lost In thought??." Miss Sophia asked herself while staring at Monica In awe.

"Monica!!" Miss Sophia called again loudly while tapping Monica on her right shoulder.

"Damn!! I caused her to be like this...I'm such a fool! How could I have forgotten that she often spaces out whenever she's trying to understand something that seems difficult to understand??." Theresa said to herself In a scolding tone while staring at Monica who was still lost In thought.

"Monica!!" Miss Sophia called again In a high-pitched tone while shaking Monica vigorously.

"Y.....Y.....Y.....Y.....Yes?." Monica said out In a stuttering tone as soon as she came out of her reverie while looking at Miss Sophia In a disoriented manner.

"Monica, aren't you gonna come In? Why are you standing here like a tree?." Miss Sophia asked Monica angrily while glaring at her.

"Ain't no way she's like a tree because she's literally a tree...Right Guys?." One of the female students said out In a mocking tone while glaring daggers at Monica.

"Yeah! She's a tree!! An old stinking tree!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha!!" The other students said out In a mocking tone while laughing at Monica who was still disoriented.

"Monica, What's wrong with you?? Just look at your classmates laughing at you because of your weird...,"

"I'm not weird and I'm fine!! And for those of you who dared to open your crooked teeth to laugh at me just because I spaced out...Well, Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves because y'all look like living corpses that's the reason why your brains are dead because If your brains aren't dead then you would be able to tell the difference between a tree and a human...Mtcheeewwwww!!" Monica said to Miss Sophia sternly, Interrupting her from saying what she wanted to say before sarcastically talking to the students who were laughing at her.

The students Immediately stopped laughing at Monica when they heard what she said. They got so ashamed of themselves and as a result of that, they bowed their heads as Monica walked to her seat.

As soon as Monica took her seat, Miss Sophia walked to the whiteboard and wrote "LITERATURE," before turning to the students with a smile on her face.

"Class who among you can tell me what a stock character Is??." Miss Sophia asked the students warmly while smiling and looking at them Inquisitively.

The students kept quiet and looked at themselves to see If any of them would stand up but none of them did.

"Are you guys kidding me? As literature students, y'all are supposed to know this." Miss Sophia said to the students while looking at them with a disappointed facial expression.

"Theresa! Tell us what a stock character Is In literature generally." Miss Sophia ordered Theresa who was drawing in her notebook.

"Fuck!!" Theresa cursed Inwardly as she stood up to answer the question.

"Class, listen up very well...Miss Theresa Is gonna tell us what a stock character Is In literature generally." Miss Sophia said to the students while smiling at Theresa who was scratching her non-Itchy hair.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry but I don't know the answer." Theresa said to Miss Sophia while bowing her head In shame.

"Theresa, I can't believe you don't know the answer...You are one of our most Intelligent students in this school so It's a shame for you to tell me that you don't know the answer to this simple question...I'm highly disappointed In you, Miss Theresa...I'm highly disappointed." Miss Sophia said to Theresa angrily while glaring at her with a disappointed facial expression.

"Miss Sophia why don't you ask Monica...She seems to be quiet and unmoved." Lily, One of the female students suggested to Miss Sophia while smirking at Monica who was staring at the whiteboard.

"Well, I don't see how a student who is quiet and unmoved will know the answer If our very own Theresa doesn't know the answer." Miss Sophia said to Lily while walking to Monica's desk.

"I know but ask her anyway...She seems to know the answer judging by the way she's too quiet and unmoved." Lily said to Miss Sophia warmly while glaring at Monica.

"Fine!! Miss Monica, Please tell us what a stock character Is in literature." Miss Sophia ordered Monica while folding her hands across her shoulders.

"Hahaha!! Let's see how you will get out of this one! I can't wait for you to be laughed at and ridiculed by Miss Sophia." Lily said to herself Inwardly while glaring daggers at Monica as she stood up to answer Miss Sophia's question.

Taking a deep breath, Monica cleared her throat before turning to the class with a smile on her face.

"I was asked what a stock character Is In literature...Well, here's the answer...,"

"Tell us already!! Stop talking too much!! No one gives a crap about what you wanna say...All we want to hear Is your answer to what a stock character Is...Right Guys?." Lily said out angrily while Interrupting Monica from saying what she wanted to say.

"Yeah!! Tell us what a stock character Is In literature." The students yelled at Monica In a mocking tone while glaring daggers at her.

"Okay!! A stock character In literature Is a character whose actions, speech, style, and roles are predictable." Monica said out while looking at Miss Sophia Intently.

"Wow!! I'm Impressed, Miss Monica!! You answered It perfectly!!! Class, a round of applause for her." Miss Sophia said to Monica excitedly while smiling brightly at her as she ordered the class to clap for her.

"What?! How could she know the answer when Theresa doesn't??." Lily asked Miss Sophia In shock while staring at her In disbelief.

"Because you don't judge a book by Its cover." Miss Sophia answered Lily warmly as the class clapped and cheered for Monica.
