Chapter 1 - Prologue

It was a good day today.

Anit had just completed his daily badminton practice and was on his way to home from academy.

With hands steadied on his scooter's handle and dull eyes keeping guard for other vehicles traversing the dark road, he began his daily musing.

'I believe I have done all the necessary topics for this week's test... no... one is missing, I will complete it after reaching home...'

With that the scooter continued its journey towards its usual destination.

*Beeeep*

A speeding convertible passed by Anit's ride.

Having caught a glimpse of the car's passengers, a supposed couple smoking and drinking their worries away, Anit disdained 'As expected of the ignorant! Blissfully unaware of the harms they inflict themselves.'

Anit had this special quality... he was a calm analyst.

And as all focused people, he also had a goal, to learn more.

Ever since he was introduced by his second class's teacher to the wonderful world of science, to say the least, he became obsessed with it, with knowing more...

Now, all these years, he had been laying a solid foundation to start his career as a physicist.

But it hadn't been easy.

As always, bullies were there to thwart his progress. He had to double his effort on all fronts including self-defence to cope up with the losses made by those animals.

*Rattle*

His scooter jumped up a bit because of a speed breaker, making the contents of his badminton kit to rattle.

He shivered slightly, still soaked in sweat, outcome of today's badminton session. Tired, he could only ignore and make plans of having a long bath before be-

'No! That topic still remains to be completed! I won't take rest until it's finished...'

He steeled his mind for a long all nighter.

*Beeeeep*

Another car passed by, but Anit couldn't care less.

Another two turns and he would reach home.

...too optimistic he was.

*Booom*

An explosion sounded and there it was. In front of him, a crack in space itself and he had no way to dodge as the scooter's momentum didn't allow it. In he goes, towards the unknown and with no way to return.

*Rumble*

That part of Earth quaked and healed that wound like it never existed before.

...

'Why is it taking so long?'

Anit thought, multi-colored lights flashed by as he seated on his scooter was forced to move forward by some force in an ethereal tunnel which the crack led to.

He being in this ride, waiting for the tunnel to end seemingly for hours, was getting more anxious as if he already wasn't enough before.

To distract himself, Anit tried to engross himself into this peculiar phenomenon.

Now remember, Anit being the good boy he was, was never introduced and even actively protected against THE CULTURE *wink-wink* by his parents.

Oh he knew there was something fishy going on, especially with his parents being awfully obvious about it. Like how they would at times snoop in his laptop to check out his browsing history, or like that time his mum hid the television's remote's battery the very next day after he watched a really educational program... What ya all thinking? It was literally an educational program showcasing vedic mathematics! It would have continued to be so if it wasn't for some anime to start the moment that program finished. Helicopter parents for the win!

So yes, he didn't read enough books to guess he was probably experiencing a summoning.

*Woooosshhhh*

An eerie voice sounded.

Anit turned to look at its source, and was left speechless. A massive entity lurked just behind the illusionary veil defining the borders of the disco-lighted tunnel. Outside the veil, in that blank background loomed a dark entity with an undefined size, writhing with its pitch black tentacles.

A mere glimpse of that entity would have lead even the strongest of men mad, but Anit was protected, even if partially considering his face morphing into a more deranged form. The tunnel formed by the summoning, held shields to protect the summoned against such beings, but the shields were only as strong as the summoner. And as you could have guessed, they wouldn't require summoning Anit if they had strength comparable to the eldritch being stalking him.

The being was far from the tunnel, but close enough to trigger the tunnel's defensive abilities with its mere presence.

And Anit

'Its so... fascinating...'

was influenced.

His puny mind couldn't handle the majesty that creature radiated.

Its presence demanding worship from him.

Pure and selfless devotion.

The creature progressed towards its prey, in a seemingly slow fashion but fast to those in the know of workings of the Void.

Then the tunnel's shields did something which even the summoner couldn't have predicted.

They exploded.

In their desperate attempt to save the summoned they exploded to repel the creature while leaving a way out for Anit.

Another portal opened in front of him, and Anit was dragged into it.

The fanaticism that his face displayed was suddenly replaced by dullness.

His emotions successfully wiped out because of that incomplete believer conversion, replaced by cold logic and an ever growing disgust for what he was before the summoning... a glorified animal.

Only one thing remained of Anit in this... new individual.

His obsession to learn, to know more...

...

The explosion's power was pathetic compared to Co'varre'sheok but strong enough to blind it with excessive Holy mana the explosion radiated with.

That caused it to lose its prey.

Now... its angry.

Well, problems for the celestial bodies surrounding it.
