Chapter 7 - No Way Of Escaping

I woke up in a room I couldn't recognize.

Unlike the room I was in earlier, this place looked less of a dungeon and more of a normal bedroom.

I noticed I was lying on a bed.

I tried to sit up straight, but as I did, I felt a sharp pain in my left arm.

As I observed my arm, I noticed a part of it was bandaged, and quite neatly too.

The last thing I remember was that sharp thing cutting my flesh.

Where am I? Am I at the same old place?

I removed the sheets covering me,and I gasped at what I saw...

The clothes I was in...were not the same ones I was wearing earlier.

They...they had been changed!

I was shocked. Was I seeing things?

But who...who could have...??

I started to panic. Was it those men from earlier who changed my...

No! God no! Did they...?

What-what exactly happened to me while I was unconscious?!!

"You're awake"

I heard a voice say and I immediately snapped my head towards where it came from, fear gripping my heart.

To my relief I only saw a woman by the door;she held a tray in her hand, and she was dressed in a maid's outfit.

She smiled as she looked at me.

Her amber eyes seemed warm, just like her smile, and her aura seemed friendly. The fear in my heart slowly dissipated. For some reason I felt she meant me no harm...that I was safe;but I still won't let my guard down around her though. After all, appearances can be deceptive.

"I didn't expect that you'd gain consciousness this fast considering your injuries. Your wounds are quite deep and your clothes were soaked with blood so much that I had to change them,"she said as she put the tray she held in her hand on a table beside the bed.

Her last sentence made me take a breath of relief. Even though I don't know her I'm glad she was the one who changed my clothes and not the men who brought me here.

Thank goodness; nothing unruly happened to me while I was unconscious.

I looked at the food that was on the tray and I suddenly remembered how hungry I was. I was about to say something when my stomach beat me to it and spoke first,by growling so loudly that it even had an echo.

The woman chuckled softly.

"I'm guessing you're hungry. I'll leave you to eat. If there's anything you need, I'll be there to help. For now,eat up,"she said and turned to leave.

"Wait! Don't go!," I said and she halted and looked back at me.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"In the Aikin mansion."

Her answer left me confused. I'm in a mansion? Why?

"You told me to ask you if I need help with anything..."

"Yes I remember saying that...so what do you need me to do for you?"

"Help me get out of here. I'm not supposed to be here anyway. This is all just a big misunderstanding."

"I'm sorry but I cannot help you with that, even if I wanted to,"her tone was firm, but soft.

"Ok I understand...why though."

"I'm just not supposed to. And for your own good, please don't try to escape or leave this place."

Wait she just refused to help me,and now she's telling me not to help myself? Wow,and I'm supposed to listen to her and just sit here for God knows how long?

"Why shouldn't I try to leave?", I asked, knowing that her answer wouldn't change the fact that I'd still find my way out of here regardless.

"Because of that..."she pointed to her wrist, and I looked at mine.

It was then that I noticed something like a bracelet around my left wrist:it was black and there was a red light emanating from it.

Wait that wasn't there before. How come I didn't feel it on my hand earlier? What's it even supposed to be...a tracker?

"If you go out of the mansion the beeper will go off and track your movements. It will also give you a shock and zap you.

So it is a tracker. Wait did she just say it'd zap me if I try to leave?

"So please just remain here and don't try to leave, it's for your own good."

These abductors are really taking things seriously I mean trackers, really!

And I bet there's no way to remove this thing from my wrist.

I wanted to ask her if there was a way to get rid of it,but I decided not to knowing she either didn't know or she's just not supposed to say anything.

"Could you please just tell me why I was brought here then? What do they want from me?"

I sighed, hoping that she could at least this question,but...

"I'm sorry but I can't answer that question either, but I'm sure you'll know about that soon enough. Is there anything else you need?"

What else was there to ask?

"No, that's all,"I managed to say without sounding disappointed.

"Sorry again. My name's Kiara by the way,"she said and flashed another warm smile.

"I'm Arie." I returned her smile.

"I know" and with that she left, not giving me the chance to ask her how she knew my name without me telling her.

My stomach growled again, and I looked at the food on the table.

Even though I was really hungry, I stopped to think: was it safe to eat this. I mean I don't know anyone here. Who's to say they couldn't have put something in the food.

My stomach growled again;louder this time, and I pushed those thoughts back, succumbing to the hunger and eating the food anyway.

If there was really something in it, hopefully God will protect me,right?

I tasted the food and realized it was really good. If something does happen to me at least the taste is worth it.

As I ate in silence, I thought of all that had happened so far...and all that Kiara just said.

Is there really no way of escaping?
