Chapter 2: Menace

Blare!

The sounds of police car sirens resounded through the streets as a group of cars chased a figure in a black motorcycle that revved at high speeds.

A figure rode on the motorcycle as he deftly manoeuvred around the busy streets of Night City, chasing after a flamboyant car that hovered a few inches off the ground while being pursued by a bunch of red and blue vehicles that relentlessly tried to capture him.

The figure took out a gun with faint pulsing blue lights of its barrel, and shot at the flamboyant car. The bullets pulsated with a blue glow, with trace evidence of an electromagnetic nature of some sort. The bullets clashed against the car's body, causing faint sparks to appear.

The roof of the car suddenly opened, and two men holding guns violently shot glowing purple bullets that whizzed speedily towards the figure in the motorcycle.

The figure in the motorcycle made a swift turn, and easily manoeuvre around the bullets, which hit against one of the police cars, causing it to smash against another of its kind. And then...

Boom!

The colliding cars suddenly burst into flames under the effects of a resounding explosion, lighting up the busy streets of Night City as the screams of the nearby people were heard.

The motorcycle suddenly spat out blue flames from its exhaust, increasing its speed even further as the figure relentlessly chased after the flamboyant car.

"Shit! Who is this guy? What the hell is his deal?" One of the men at the roof of the car said with urgency in his voice as he hastily brought a strange box shaped object.

"I dunno dude! All I heard about this mission was that we were supposed to escort this rich guy! They never said anything about some crazy motherfucker that was trying to kill him! Fuck, we are gonna die here! And it's all that bastard Ronald's fault. When I see him, I'll..." The other man said with panic in his voice.

"Shut up! And get ready to use your mist to create a distraction." The first man said as he inputted a code on an interface that lit up on a screen at the top of the box shaped object.

"What are you planning to do?" The other man asked.

"Something that's gonna save our asses." The first man grinned.

"Uhh...okay then. But if I die, I'm going to kill you."

"Shut up and do as I say."

"Gotcha."

The second man suddenly spat out a mouthful of gray mist from his mouth, that quickly spread throughout the area, blocking the vision of both the figure on the motorcycle and the police vehicles in pursuit.

The first guy, hurried pushed a button on the object and flung it away. Flying through the air, the object landed on the road with a heavy thud. Thin objects sprung out from the object and attached themselves to the ground.

The motorcycle accelerated forward with blinding speed, in pursuit of the car, breezing through the mist like nothing was there. As it chased after the car, it suddenly hit against the box shaped object...

Boom!

A loud explosion was heard as the motorcycle burst into flames, with parts flying everywhere.

"Yeah! We fucking got him!" The first man cheered.

"That's right baby! Take that, fool! See ya in the afterlife. Say hi to Satan for me, cuz you sure as hell ain't going to heaven!" The second man laughed.

"Is he gone?" A weak, male voice sounded in their ears. They turned to look at the source of the voice, and at each other, grinning with known intention.

"Yep. He's gone. But look, we had to sacrifice a very powerful weapon to take him down. So...the thing is...that costs money...and..." The first man smiled softly as he looked as his partner, who grinned in return.

"I understand. How much do you want?" The voice asked composedly.

"80% more." The first man replied.

"What? Now way! 25% more. That's all I can give you." The voice in the car spoke.

"95% more. Else we'd gladly abandon this mission and leave you to your own end." The first man spoke.

"No way. 50% more is the highest I can go. You'd better take it or leave it." The voice was adamant.

"Now, now. Remember, we're the ones with the upper hand in this deal. But don't worry, we're generous people and won't push you too much. We'll take it." The first man smiled.

"But there's a condition. You guys will have to escort me SAFELY to my destination. Else, no deal." The voice had a hard tone as he spoke.

"Of course. We pride ourselves in doing our job." The first man gave an honorable looking smile, which clearly screamed "fake" all over.

"Bunch of rip-offs." The person in the car muttered.

The two men looked at each other with a wide grin on their faces.

'Such a huge cash cow! I'd take a job like this any day!' They thought gleefully.

But the grins on their faces were suddenly wiped off from their faces like a piece of writing by an eraser as a short arrow like object connected to a long metal chain struck the car, piercing a few inches through it.

A figure was soon seen fifteen feet off the ground, clad in a black jacket and pants, staring at them with a black metallic helmet that had two pulsating blue lights in place of eyes. Staring into those blue lights gave them a chill, like a reaper's blade was about to take their lives.

"What the? Is it that guy? How is he still fucking breathing? Shoot! Now!" The two man hastily fired few shots at the figure.

Dodging them with extreme dexterity, the figure's palm suddenly shot a thin bolt of electricity that crashed onto the second man's chest, rendering him unconscious.

"Donny! Fuck you motherf**ker! I'mma fucking bust open your fucking brain!" The first man took the weapon of his partner and shot at the black clad figure with murderous frenzy.

Thick beams of purple lights shot at the black clad figure, but before they could come in contact with his body, his figure suddenly flashed, disappearing from vision.

The first man was flabbergasted.

With no spare time to react, a bloody hole appeared on his chest. His eyes widened in horror as he looked at the object that pierced through his chest, connected to the wrist guard of a black clad figure.

"You...you..." He tried to speak, but the object in his chest was tugged violently as it ruptured his heart.

Phwark!

He spat a mouthful of blood, drawing his last breath as he fell off the car and onto the cold, hard ground.

The car violently skidded along the road due to the offset of balance, making screeches along the highway.

A second arrow shaped object pierced through another part of the moving vehicle.

Thin blue sparks of electricity traveled along the metallic chains, and onto the car, shutting off its electrical systems and bring the car to a stop.

A man weakly came out of the car, leaning against the sides as he took in deep breaths.

"I have to get to safety. Goddamit! Where are the police when you need them? They collect donations like dogs meeting their owner, yet they can't even protect the safety of this city. I'm going to have to the secretary to stop further donations to those money loving bastards. My ability is doing its work already." He looked at the injuries on his body, that had already begun to show signs of healing.

"It's a shame. It won't help you escape death." A robotic voice was heard.

"Huh? Where are you?" The man turned frantically in search of the source of the voice.

"Even if the police were here, they still wouldn't be able to save you. Once I have my eyes on you, you can never hope to escape from my grasp. Your life belongs to me." The robotic voice sounded behind him, giving him a fright.

"Please spare me! Don't kill me! Who sent you? Saka? Reed? The Dragons? I'll pay you two, no five times what they paid you! Just spare my life! Please!" The man went on his knees.

"Well...I don't know who sent me. I saw a mission. I took it. But I do have my own pride to uphold. So...not happening." The black clad figure raised his hand.

The man suddenly pointed a gun at the figure's heart, shooting a bullet with an eerie reddish-black glow as he laughed maniacally.

"Hahaha! You bastard! Think you can kill me? For years, I have been in this position, and some idiot like you will not be the one to end my life whether the fool that sent you likes it or not." The man grinned as he tried to quickly escape the area. It would not be good for his image if someone were to see him here, in his current state.

"Turning your back towards the enemy? Not a very smart move." A robotic voice that gave the man chills was heard.

"How?" The man asked. But then he saw the intricate black armor with a pulsating blue core that lay underneath the jacket and his eyes widened.

"High-grade ICE armor? Impossible! Don't tell me...you possess a connection with...them?" His voice broke.

"Shh. No more words from you. You've said enough. Now, time to meet your Maker." An arrow shaped spike-like object connected with a thin metallic chain viciously struck forward, and the man's head was swiftly detached from the rest of his body.

"Mission complete. It's time to leave." The black clad figure began to take a few steps forward when the sounds of police sirens suddenly approached him.

"Stop right there! You're under arrest! We're not going to bother reading you any Miranda rights because you don't deserve any! It would be in your best interest if you were to surrender quietly and come with us!" A husky voice was heard as the police vehicles stopped on front of the black clothed figure.
