Chapter 85 - The Twenty One Questions Part 2

Last Question.

Theo stood before what it looked to be a Kobold Chief.

A nostalgic opponent that Theo faced two years ago.

An opponent that almost killed him

An opponent that he struggled againstĀ

As well as his first Boss monster that his ever beaten.

Looking at it now made Theo chuckle in delight.

Compared to before, now a casual swing is enough to kill this mutt.

Theo approached the Kobold and waited for it to ask the question.

"What can-"

"Don't know"

The last question was a trick question, because there wasn't any right answer in the first place.

The Academy wanted all the students to be at the very least the level where they can bear a Kobold chief.

Though, Theo noticed that it was noticeably weaker than the Kobold Chief he faced before.

The one in front of him was only at the middle of Adept tier which would still post a challenge to most students as most were at the same tier.

"Grrr"

The Kobold chief's gray eyes slowly showed clarity and its body trembling slowly breaking free from the spell that essentially froze him in place

To prevent students from killing the monsters in the test, they get a three second invicibilty frame to make it fair for the monster, giving it time to prepare itself for those that tried to cheese it when it's in its off state.

This is also the reason why Theo preferred answering the questions because it was simply faster.

Every second matters when I'm betting against Selene.

Theo summoned his blade and counted down from three.

"Grrrr.... ROAAAAAAA-!"

As soon as the three seconds were up, a single white line was drawn in a single flash on the Kobold Chief's body.

"Sorry buddy"

Theo placed Dawn away and ran past the now beheaded Kobold Chief.

A blue portal appeared as soon as the the Kobold Chief died.

Theo sprang into action not wasting a single second, desperate to not lose the bet he made with Selene.

3 or so hours ago

A big magical projector projected multiple perspectives that showed hundreds of aspiring students of the Union Academy. And observing the projector were the dozens of adults that were honored the title of being the future instructors of the future 1st year students that were going through the tests.

Each and every one radiated auras that clearly surpassed the definition normal of this world, because all of the instructors were all at the very least the low master tier.

Every single one standing in the projector room all have a line of achievements around their belt.

Only those that have proven their worth can lead the future leaders of the world.

Especially now that most of the children of the leaders of the world were now taking the test to enter the Union Academy.

The Headmaster of the Academy dubbed this generation as the "Strongest Golden Generation in the history of The Union Academy"

Everyone respected the Headmaster's words and only chose the best of the best to guide this generation.

Standing far back center of the room was the wife, the vice headmistress of the Union Academy, and the Foster mother of Liana Starborne, Linda Starborne, a Grand Elf who is at the Peak of Grandmaster tier.

A well known legend and Hero of her time.

Now known more as one of thee greatest if not greatest leaders

Many of the instructors were mainly discussing about the aspiring students.

And the discussion inevitably fell towards which aspiring student was going to finish first in the Maze test.

"The daughter of The Vice headmistress will likely finish first."

"A prodigy of archery and sprit magic. With her superior senses, she could easily detect the unusual mana around the maze"

"Indeed, especially when she was taught by the Linda Starborne herself."

Everyone in the room firmly believed that Liana Starborne would finish first.

After a few minutes the students were teleperted to the Maze as Olivia Montague finished her grand speech.

The instructor observed as all the aspiring students tried to plan their route out of the maze.

Though some conflicts arose from people deciding who would become leader and some even came from strifr and prejudice between countries or races.

One such moment was about to arise from Liana's group when a Obsidian haired girl sprang towards the maze with no hesitation.

This caught the attention of all the instructors.

"Focus on that student"

The Vice headmistress causally said and the camera panned towards the running figure that left Liana's team.

"Is that Selene Aventus?"

All nodded and confirmed the instructor that called out Selene's name.

Everyone was confused and disappointed that one of the children of the emperor would just recklessly charge in the Maze without any prior preparation or desire cooperation with her teammates, which a future leader should pursue if they had a standing of a Saintess and a daughter of The imperial family.

But their feelings of disappointment were replaced by confusion, then astonishment and finally turned to suspicion and astonishment combined.

They were speechless at what they were watching.

The Obsidian princess was effortlessly dodging all the traps, moving at the right direction and ruthlessly slaughtering anything that barged her path to the exit.

"..... Were the rumours about her being extremely sick or cursed falls?"

One of the instructors privy to international rumours spoke in disbelief.

Another nodded in agreement

"The emperor himself insisted that Princess Selene was sickly, hence her rare appearances in public."

Her control of her undead were also unparalleled, giving the instructor shivers.

"... She's almost at the exit."

All the instructors were indeed impressed but the capabilities that the young princess displayed, but every instructor in the room had hundreds if not thousands of battle experience and they concluded that Selene was moving as if she knew what was going to happen in advance.

All the traps, where the enemy would appear what corner to take and other small details that she looked like a season veteran that tackled the same maze thousands of times.

They glanced at Linda and thought that maybe she would be able discover the reason why Selene was breezing through the maze.

But they were met with silence, indicating that Selene was not cheating and all of the things she was doing was fair to the exam, so they silently swallowed their curiosity and kept observing until they noticed a white flash in one-off the small projections on the side of the Selene projection.

"This....."

All the instructors had their mouths wide open, seeing the destruction of a certain blonde hair boy wrought across the maze.

"That's....."

One of the instructors nodded at the baffled instructor.

"His definitely at the Peak of Astute tier."

A moment of silence ensued in the room.

Most Peak Astute tiers were guaranteed for greatness.

They carve out legends and one such child was right in front of them.

"This is absurd... how can the families of Aventus and Ignatius keep pumping out monsters.."

Every single person in the room silently agreed to the statement of one of the instructors.

"He's catching up"

They also noticed that Theo was gaining ground and slowly catching up to Selene who got teleported closer to the exit.

The ten minute difference between them shrunk to a five minute difference in distance.

Every spectator watched with bathed breath as they watched the two imperial children race across the maze with ease.

"What is her imperial highness-!?"

Selene that was being projected resurrected the undead that she killed and made them stay at a focal point in the Maze where all of the students needed to get through to exit the maze.

She also left two of her wolf summons while she delve faster into the maze to find the exit.

What came next gave another surprise to the instructors.

A battle ensued between Theo and the undead Selene left behind.

"Her highnesss control with the undead is....."

"Unprecedented. I've never seen summon control undead as much as her....."

Another baffling fact was revealed to the instructors.

Despite having immense distance between Selene and her undead, she was able to control them with impeccable ability never seen before of people her age.

But they weren't only impressed with Selene's mastery over the undead.

The overwhelming explosive power and skill surpassed anything they've seen before.

Theo wasn't just brute forcing through everything, he was actually skillfully using his power with extreme proficiency, easily defeating all with the most efficient method possible.

Every movement both sides did were subtle yet extremely effective giving the instructors a small terror at the corner of their heart.

As Theo finished off the last undead, projector room remained silent.

".... I had high expectations but this is absurd"

All instructors nodded as silence ensued once more.

While all of this was happening, Linda was donning a small smile on her face.

"The time has come."
