Chapter 80 - Maze Part 2

Selene POV

"It feels so good to have an easy victory!"

Selene reinforced her body with magic and chugged a couple of potions to increase her speed through the maze, leaving her teammates in the dust.

She already knew the way to the exit so she didn't hesitate to spring forward after the announcement of Olivia Montague, her future homeroom teacher.

It was also the reason why Selene didn't make the move to start, because she didn't want to receive the ire of her future teacher by ignoring her words or get deducted for not listening to instructions.

The game also penalises you on your favorability with Olivia if you started walking through the maze without letting her finish speaking.

Developing Olivia Montague's favorability was essential for certain events in the future. She was also a person that should be trusted as she was the definition and symbol of what a good teacher should be, despite being cunning at times.

Kukuku, I've been an expert on getting brownie points from teachers. I bet that I'll be getting the special item before Theo, Kukuku.

Selene kept running through the maze at a rapid pace, until she discovered a dozen kobolds barging her way.

"Tch, Cookie, Blaze, make me a path"

Two wolves jumped out of the magic circle metres in front of her and pounced and clawed their way through the intermediate tier kobolds.

Selene easily killed most of the kobolds with her summons and continued running through the maze to make it to the end as fast as possible.

Liana POV

Liana was running through the maze with the guidance of one of her befriended wind spirit.

"Tsk, sigh, Elves sure do get on my nerves. Who cares if I'm a half elf. Their tradition always piss me of-?

A kobold?

As Liana turned a path she witnessed a single Kobold injured by a bite mark on its neck, limping as its mouth continued to drool for the flesh of the weary.

What was more surprising was the scattered corpses of kobolds around the sole injured kobold in the centre.

This.... Who could possibly have done this?

Liana took out her bow and shot the injured kobold with barely any effort, ending it's miserable life as she walked closer to the dead bodies of the kobolds.

She kneeled down and observed the injuries of one of the kobolds with a perceptive eye.

"Hoh, this was done moments ago and swiftly at that...."

Liana was astonished by the scene before her. She wondered what kind of monster slaughtered the kobolds in mere seconds.

Or maybe it's one of prospective students?

The first person that came into her mind was a certain obsidian haired beauty that left her in the dust.

"Hahaha, No way. That frail looking girl? Seriously?"

Liana found it hard to see that an innocent looking girl would mercilessly massacre a bunch of kobolds in such an animalistic way.

There could be another candidate for suspicion like a different student or a monster but her gut feeling told her it was the obsidian beauty that did this.

Liana simply smiled and ran after the traces of the Obsidian beauty left behind.

Here I thought I was going to be the strongest in this generation. Father was right, there are people who arrive that rival my talent.

As Liana ran with haste, she could only anticipate what would happen after she meets this mysterious obsidian lady that ran away at the start.

POV Theo

"I'm close!"

Theo was close after a ten minutes of sprinting through the maze, he was close.

Many traps, obstacles and monsters that barred his way to the finish line but he either dodged it with his knowledge of the game or he brute forced his way because of his unexpectedly superior stats that the supervisors never accounted for.

Most of the obstacles targeted people in the Adept tier so anyone that was Astute was bound to have an easier time than the rest.

Theo, who was at the peak of Astute, went through everything in a breeze.

There was also the fact that he was Theo, a man with impeccable talent and superior physique.

Selene

out of nowhere Selene sends a telepathic message to Theo in a rather gleeful voice, making Theo suspicious of what his rival was up to.

Theo

Selene

The more Selene talked, the more Theo felt discomfort.

His intuition was alarming, signalling him that there was definitely something suspicious to what Selene was planning.

He also knew that whenever Selene acted like this, it meant that she was guaranteed that she was going to win, which made Theo break out in a cold sweat.

Selene.

Theo, hearing Selene's sly words, instantly guessed what she was implying.

Don't tell me she-!?

WOOF!*

Theo dodged right, avoiding the incoming fangs that bared his way. It was Selene's skeletal pup, Cookie, that tried to tear his head off.

"Hahaha, this is cheating!...!"

Theo then dodged a fireball that headed his way. It came from Blaze the undead fire wolf that Selene received from Spartacus and was ten or so metres away from Theo.

But what shook him even more was the figures behind the Flaming wolf.

There were two dozen kobolds that stood in his way to the finish line and every single one of them were undead.

How does Theo know that they were undead?

The fact that they were emitting an aura of death and their eyes were tinted in the colour of the abyss, making it easy for Theo to guess that all of the kobolds in his way were servants of Selene.

<.... I will remember this, Selene> Theo

Selene

Theo clad his sword with golden flaming radiance as he took a stance against the foes in his way.

All of them were undead so none of them felt fear against the might Theo displayed.

If only they were alive would they flee from Theo's overwhelming power.

Sadly for Theo, He needed at least a minute or two to deal with all of Selene's minions, especially when she brought out Blaze and Cookie who had impeccable synergy and are at the level of two peak adept tier.

And those two minutes were enough to guarantee Selene's victory. That was how much farther Theo was placed in the Maze, wasting a few minutes already spelling his defeat against Selene.

That b*tch is probably laughing at me right now... Just you wait, Selene. You know I'm a petty man.

******

Selene POV

"Ah, I can't stop laughing, kukuku. I wish I could see Theo's face right now. Oh how sweet this easy victory is"

Selene was running from the narrow pathways of the maze to an evidently open area, which she remembered to be the end of the maze in the game.

As soon as Selene entered the open area, a clapping sound caught her attention from the middle of the open area.

"Fifteen minutes and twenty seven seconds for our first winner of the first exam. I congratulate the princess of Aventus for going beyond all of our expectations"

In the centre was a man with a monocle donned in a sophisticated and well designed robe. He had slick blonde hair and sharp yellow eyes. He also had a magnificent moustache that looked suited him very well, because of his whole gentlemanly vibes.

Selene smiled and politely bowed towards the monocled man.

"Greetings to you, sir. I am simply performing with the best of my abilities as the academy expects of me"

Princess mode on!

The man placed his hand on his chin and smiled at the graceful actions Selene performed towards him.

"You act and speak befitting of a royalty. I am happy to hear that you think highly of our academy, Princess Selene. I am Anton Valentine, your future Alchemist and Magic instructor. I am confident that someone as talented as you will most definitely become one of my students''

Anton Valentine, A man from a fallen noble household that had to climb his way to the top of the social ladder. He was a man that respected hardwork and desired knowledge of any kind above all else. Though, he has a slight dislike of arrogant or disrespectful brats. He appreciates any kind of respectful manner towards those who treat people well regardless of ethnicity or status.

An instructor that Selene must get brownie points from as his side quest was something Selene desired to do.

After a couple of minutes of exchanges with the instructor Anton, Selene felt a familiar presence rushing towards where they were at.

Here comes the loser, kekeke

A man slowly walked and entered the open area with a cold look, emitting an aura that far surpasses anyone of his age.

It was Theo Ignatius, the man that was defeated by Selene's simple strategy.

He glared at Selene for split second before softening after discovering the presence of Anton Valentine, who was at awe at Theo's display of power.
