Sh*t! That's impossible to dodge!!!!
Selene exclaimed in her head as she stared at the spell that spelled their doom.
"Iron wall!"
BOOM!
An iron wall sprouted up from the ground and blocked the master tier spell from killing Theo and Selene.
Nice Bennet!
Bennet and Elsa were now of the Master tier, after two years of arduous training.
An extremely rare case for someone so young to a Master tier, like Selene's and Theo's elder siblings.
Elsa and Bennet simultaneously casted a spell, combining their powers to protect their master.
""Earthen Wall!""
A Wall sprouted from both sides of Selene and Theo and streched all the way down the road where the fifth sector was, as well as making a safe path for Theo and Selene to ride through.
BOOM
Sadly it was getting blown into bits by the chasing demons from both sides.
"Sacrifice!"
Theo can make Miracles with an equivalent exchange, so Theo sacrificed his strength and gave power to the Horse for faster speed.
And speed it had. Theo and Selene felt the change of speed, making them hold for their dear life.
Still it wasn't enough to surpass the speed of a master so barrages kept raining down from above.
BOOM!
"Kya!"
"Selene! What happened?"
Selene was hit by debris from the broken wall.
Blood dripped down from Selene's forehead, blinding her in the process.
She couldn't wipe it, fearing that letting one arm go could spell death from falling from the speeding horse.
Selene grabbed on to Theo tighter.
Theo felt a pang of irritation and anger in his heart, sensing Selene's desperation and fear in her actions.
He couldn't spare any mana to heal Selene, because he was occupied on giving all of it to the Horse
Once more, he was reminded of how weak he was.
But, he knew dwelling on something that was impossible to solve now.
For now, He needed to survive and realize the strength that is destined for him.
The only way he can protect the people of the future was to run, as much as Theo hated running away.
Two more minu-!
A man in a robe intercepted them and stood on their way to the fourth sector.
Demon! Marquis!
"WHERE DO YOU THINK YOUR GOING CHI-!"
BANG!
"Leave this to me Young master!"
Bennet, who was supposed to be behind them appeared and launched the demon to one of the unoccupied stalls with a surprise attack.
While Bennet was busy fighting the demon, Elsa continued following us with her horse that was reinforced with her Body strengthening, easily catching up to Theo and Selene's horse.
A shadow abruptly was casted from above, enough to cover Theo, Selene and the horse.
Theo quickly glanced up and saw a gigantic demon diving down from the sky, intending to crush the two with it's sheer size.
Luckily Elsa was there to protect them.
"HANDs OF EARTH!"
Elsa cast both of her hands with lightning speed, summoning two gigantic hands from the ground, blocking the attack of the gigantic demon.
"Go ahead of us, Young master Theo! Please take care of the Lady!"
I promise!
Theo replied, in his head, as he focused on speeding up the horse.
He was pouring every bit of energy he had to go even faster, but he knew if he went too far, the horse would overload its magic circuits, essentially destroying the body of the horse, so going all out was a no go.
What he needed was precision and a focused mind, while also riding the horse and paying attention to the person behind him, putting Theo in a dire situation and he also had to be aware of the demons that were chasing him.
They definitely have more Marquis demons. They purposefully dragged Elsa and Bennet away to seperate us.
Theo knew that it was still the best solution. staying in one place and waiting for reinforcements was suicide.
What if the enemy had a space isolation artifact or a mass teleportation spell?
They were bound to be doomed if they apply that kind of desperate last measure plan
"Theo, will they be ok? Will Elsa and Bennet be ok?" Selene worriedly asked as she gripped Theo's clothing with torment
The memories of the future flashed before Selene's eyes. The time where Elsa died, protecting her.
She felt anxious. One of the reasons why Selene even thought of saving the world was Elsa.
A person that was very much like an elder sister to her.
A person with unconditional love and unconditional loyalty.
And a person who trusts and protects the person named Selene, even if the world turned against them.
Because, Elsa vowed when they first met in that one dirty alley when she was lost.
Elsa saw something in Selene's eyes that she dedicated her life to her.
She was more afraid of losing someone close to her than losing her life.
That was the kind of person Selene was.
The thought of Elsa dying flashed within her head once more.
What if.. if What if! Elsa-
"Hey, Selene"
Selene was interrupted by the calm voice of Theo.
BANG!
"AGH! What was that for!?"
All the worry and anxiousness vanished from Selene's head, instead, it was replaced by boiling anger for Theo, because Theo headbutted Selene on the forehead with the bottom back of his cranium.
Selene was about to bite Theo's neck, but she was interrupted once more by Theo's words
"Dumba*s, believe in the people we trust more. She won't die from a single stupid Marquis Demon. She's probably fighting that big demon one on one, because they're more preoccupied with chasing us. Same goes for Bennet. No way their dying to these Greedy b*tches."
Selene was left baffled by Theo's words.
The more she thought about it the more, she believed that Theo was right.
Elsa was strong, stronger than a regular Master tier mage, so she should believe in her more. She was also buying time, not fighting to the death.
Selene's thought process gradually cooled down, turning her frown from a smile.
I'm seriously beating your ass after this. The headbutt was soooo unnecessary.
But, She knew that Theo's straightforward, yet violent action was necessary for Theo to snap her out of her brooding self.
"Thank you..." Selene whispered under her breath.
"What? What did you say? Stop distracting me with useless whining."
Selene's forehead vein almost popped in anger.
I swear to Thanatos I'm beating your ass when we're safe!
Selene held in her anger, knowing that it was not the time and place to explode in anger.
Theo, who was still focused on controlling the horse and his mana, spotted the fourth sector. The gates and walls stood taller than all of the buildings in the fifth sector, it was two hundred meters tall after all.
We're close. Just a bit more!
As Theo saw a glimmer of hope at the sight of the gate, a falling star crashed hundreds of meters away in front of them.
Shit they caught up!
Theo had to stop the horse fifty meters away from the assailant in front of them, believing that getting any closer would most likely result in death.
It's definitely a demon!
"Selene, wipe the blood off your face! It's a Marquis level demon!"
Selene hurriedly wiped the blood off her face hastily and took a stance with her scythe as well as summoning all of her contracted undead.
Theo followed suit and summoned Dawn and used Sacrifice on himself, enabling him to rival a beginner tier expert in physical strength.
"You.... give... crown of our Lord! Or ill make you suffer a fate worse than death!"
The demon who landed in front of them, who formed a small crater, had six muscular arms, six Green eyes, Brown skin and three protruding horns above its forehead.
It was also twice as tall as the average human.
A demon that never appeared in the game.
Selene and Theo didn't have information about the enemy in front of them, unlike the time in the past.
Theo and Selene tensed up, knowing that they're survival was as close to zero as possible
The demonic aura proved it and as a Marquis level demon above a normal master tier proved it
The wall of Marquis and Master tier was a wall that most individuals face in their lifetime and many sadly, never were able to conquer.
The sheer difference between expert and master was like earth and the heavens. It's a complete transformation that empowers the individual to greater heights.
One expert could defeat a few hundred normal soldiers, but a master?
An army of thousands won't be enough unless you bring another master tier individual, it was the only way.
Even in the game, it was impossible to beat a master tier even if you were at the peak of Expert, unless there was a unique method on beating one, one out a hundred thousand scenarios, an expert will lose to a Master.
And in front of them was a Marquis level demon a stronger version of a normal master no less was before them staring them down with suffocating aura.
The mere aura of the Marquis demon was enough to almost make Theo and Selene faint from the spot.
Theo clenched his teeth and his fist with anger.
Thats when Theo felt a soft sensation on his hand
"Theo"
Theo turned back and saw a Selene who was on the verge of collapsing.
There was blood on her nose, her face was as white as a sheet of paper and her body trembling in fear, but her eyes shined resolve.
Her aura was far worse than Theo had his Sacrifice ability to curb the demon's aura. It was only natural for Selene who was weaker than Theo to suffer more from the radiating aura of the Demon.
"We're doing this together"
Theo's mind cleared up and his unnecessary thoughts flew away
He felt indebted to Selene at this very moment.
Theo faced the demon once more and spoke. Selene spoke as well in unison with Theo
"Sacrifice life-" "Reaper's ca-"
Tap*
A shadow suddenly was casted in front of them in a blink of an eye, disrupting their words from finishing
"Phew, this old man was almost too late"
There stood Duke Shadowblade, an old man, out of nowhere in front of Theo and Selene.
"I'm happy to see you, my grandaughter Selene. I hope you forgive my late arrival. You can leave the rest to your grandfather."
