Chapter 52 - Passive Skills

Keep walking that is what he had to do according to the map, he tried going back and searching if there was any other way. However, it was a simple straight tunnel that led to a treasure room.

" Hey, Consume [Poison Resistance]" Dave spoke.

[ Are you sure?] The mysterious item asked. As expected it was listening and watching Dave all the time, Dave had guessed that the next time he would be able to talk to him will surely be when they are doing something like this.

[ Why do you want me to consume that skill?]

" I think we can divide these skills into two categories,"

[ Explain]

" The Active Skills and The Passive Skills, I don't need [Poison Resistance] in a fight but my body needs it, so it would be a passive skill, while other skills like [ Metal Body] are active skills," Dave asked. " I think from now on you should consume all of the passive skills and I keep the active ones for myself. However, we can only do this if you can utilize the power of the skill that you consume, so tell me, Will you be able to use Poison Resistance after you consume it?"

[ Yes, Just like I can use the powers of the items that I consume...I get it] The item spoke.

"...Yeah, since we live in the same body. You can always use this skill to save me anytime. I assumed you don't have any slots limitation."

[ I don't have such a limitation, as per my analysis about myself, I am an item that gains the ability of whatever it consumes]

" Ok then do as I said," Dave ordered.

[ Skills Poison Resistance is consumed by (???)]

[ You have one empty skill slot]

' Now, Choose Antitoxin and consume it!'

[ (???) selects Antitoxin Blood]

[ Antitoxin Blood is consumed by (???)]

" Now, what should I choose?" Dave spoke.

Normally he would have decided which skill to choose before emptying a slot but since he had now classified the poison resistance skill as a passive skill, he didn't have to think before letting it be consumed. He contemplated and soon decided what to choose for himself.

[ Congratulations Yoh Have Gained A New Skill]

[ You have selected Mana Extraction]

[ (???) has consumed Mana Extraction]

" Hey, why did you do that?" Dave asked.

[ I think it's a passive skill as well since we neither need this skill in a fight nor use it for a long period]

[ I thought you have gotten smarter when you suggested categorizing skills like that but you are still dumb]

" I am not stupid, I understand that makes sense so make sure you help me raise my mana stat when I ask," Dave spoke.

He was feeling a bit unsettled because his partner never needed his permission to do anything. Dave wondered if it ever tries to betray him then what would happen.

[ You have gained a new Skill]

[ You have selected Walker]

This time it wasn't consumed since it was an active skill, Dave would keep this skill in his Arsenal until he finds something better to replace it. The reason why he chose a walker was that he was concerned about the way ahead of him.

" Hey, Use your [Hint] skill to tell me what should I do about this never-ending tunnel," Dave asked for help as he got up to walk again.

[ Continue Walking, that's all I have been told by Hint skill]

*****

" Are you sure that [Hint] was right?" Dave asked.

[ Hey stop asking me again and again, I am busy doing other things. I have told you many times that you have to just continue walking]

" Hey, I am feeling hungry and annoyed, I think it has almost been five or six hours since I started walking." He complained, " And, what is the important thing that you are doing? You know I would prefer it if you talk more and not be like a stalker."

The mysterious item didn't reply so Dave also stopped talking with it.

' This is getting boring and difficult.' He thought and started to run, thinking that he would be able to clear the distance by remaining. Hoping that he had already come so far so he must be close to the treasure room.

The map seems to have not been working as it still showed that he was in the same place since the beginning and was not moving forward. He had thought of giving up many times but continued anyway.

' I hope, I am not trapped here forever.' Dave thought.

*****

–This is the place where we lost sight of him, I never knew that there was something under the ground– The King of the Jade Garden spoke, he had come to see for himself what happened to Dave after he had fallen inside the big hole.

He was unable to spy using that magical pond for some reason. The Monster walked on the borders of the hole, analyzing it carefully.

–How did that human avoid all the paths with monsters and come to this empty room of all places?– The Leopard spoke. –Should we follow him, master?–

– Not needed, Something unsightly is lurking below this hole and I don't sense anything special other than that human inside this dungeon. However, we will wait here to confront him when he comes back–

– Are we going to take whatever he finds in there?– The Leopard asked.

– Maybe, if it is something good for us and also, it will allow us to finally have a meeting with him and talk about the important matters– The king of Jade garden spoke and sat down.

' The human seems weaker than me but can be very useful. Should I keep him as a slave?... It's not wrong since many humans keep monsters as slaves.'

The King of the Jade garden grinned as he thought of that. He wasn't a human lover, the only reason why he cooperated with them is that he had realized the harsh truth long ago. Humans have stronger warriors, even though an average monster is stronger than an average human. The war is won by people who are at the top of the hierarchy, others are just sacrifices.
