" I'll think about it," John answered, This was disappointing but still Dave at least tried to ask him. He knew that one day he too will be able to use those kinds of moves or maybe he will even require them in a fight.
They had to get out of the forest, now that they were done with the hunting quest. The Leopard followed them until they reached the place where they had first seen it. After reaching that certain area it stopped while Dave and John continued to walk.
" About the monster corpses, the excavation team of the Public guild will take care of it. They will give you the carapace of the beast and everything else apart from the meat, it will be delivered to your guild and then you can choose to sell it to them or someone else." John explained.
The only thing they need to submit to the Public Guild was the Soul Cores, in return, they will receive monetary rewards and the corpse of the monsters. The corpses are used by alchemists and Metallurgy experts for creating potions and weapons.
The entire trip wasn't that bad for a first-time adventurer, so if possible Dave wanted to have the freedom to hunt in the forest. This was a way for him to easily become rich and have a luxurious life in the future.
He and John spotted some other adventurers on thier way back and from their faces it was clear that they were wary of them. However, some of the adventurers stopped to greet John for some reason.
The time of Dusk had already passed and John warned him to walk carefully which was an unnecessary warning. He had [ Night Vision] that helped him walk without any trouble, but he decided to keep it a secret from John who was already surprised by knowing that he possibly had three skills which are super rare cases.
" We will need to camp here, the guards don't allow anyone to enter after sunset," John spoke.
" But we are near to the town, Can't we just tell them to let us enter? You are the knight of the duke, right?" He asked.
" Rules are Rules, it's not like you will not be able to walk tomorrow," John answered.
Dave wanted to go back and check the new skills that he unlocked in the skill book. They found a place where they could light up a campfire and sit.
" I wanted to ask something," John spoke.
Dave's clothes were a complete mess because of the lava, he had dispelled the [Metal Body] and was slowly recovering the mana in his body. Fortunately, only [Metal Body] was enough for hunting down the turtles. However, It provided great defense but only to his skin and not his precious armor or clothes. Because of this reason he was missing the invisible skill a lot. It would have been better to sacrifice any other skills and have both of these.
" How did you beat Shiloh?" John asked. " What I witnessed today made it clear that you are strong but that wasn't enough to beat someone like her."
" Is this the reason why you were helping me? To get to know more about my powers and what I am capable of?" Dave asked, " Or, are you also an enemy of that lady?"
" You don't know much yet you are too much involved in her conflict." John responded and then added, " If you are talking about defeating Shiloh then no, I am helping you because it's the order of the duke. Besides if anything, I am a good friend of Shiloh and have known her for a long time."
Dave knew what John meant when he said that he didn't think that Dave was capable of defeating Shiloh. That's because Currently, his stats can only be a maximum of 40 units. However, at the time when he had the bident, his stats reached 80 which is 8 times his base stat. Having that Bident made him feel like he had achieved his goal of becoming one of the strongest.
There was no way anyone who is level 48 can ever reach that stat level even with a buff. Dave regretted giving away the bident but he had no other choice because having that bident only meant more conflict.
" I think I won because I was lucky," Dave answered.
" That's the most irrational answer to my question, there is no way that Shiloh would lose because luck wasn't on her side. She admitted that she lost fair and square."
" Let me explain," Dave spoke, " I got the Demon Wolf Bident that belonged to her brother, near the Weapon GraveYard and it was because of that bident that I won and it was because of that she decided to make peace with us." He answered. " So in a way, I was lucky that I got the bident or I would have been done for."
" That Demon Wolf Bident belonged to Oscar, not his brother," Oscar repeated in surprise.
" It was Oscar's?"
" Yes," He spoke. " Oscar's the one who killed the two-headed Demon Wolf."
" Then why did she say, it belonged to her brother."
" Because Oscar had transferred that item to Salem, before his death," John answered, " I know two different stories that I had heard from Shiloh and Oscar."
" I don't understand thier dispute, do you know more about it?"
' I should get full information from him, I am sure she would be a problem in the future as well if I choose to side with Oscar.' Dave thought.
" According to Oscar, He killed the Demon Wolf, and According to Shiloh, she witnessed Salem kill the Demon Wolf and then saw Oscar backstabbing Salem. When she witnessed it she was unable to do anything, she was so injured that her body didn't even move. I am not sure if Oscar is lying to us or if Shiloh has misunderstood. Everything has become a mess." John spoke and then added, "if only we had found Salem's dead body then we would have been able to determine the truth."
John sounded sad while telling that story, and Dave felt conflicted about Oscar. Was Oscar someone who killed his friend whom he had known for a long time? If that was true then Dave wasn't sure if he could ever trust him. However just when they were thinking about that something unusual happened and a man suddenly landed in front of them.
John quickly drew his sword and stepped in front of Dave who also got up after seeing the sudden commotion.
" Who are you?" John asked
" Wait...John, it's me!" The person spoke.
