Chereads / The Lone Wolf's Mate / Chapter 4 - 4

Chapter 4 - 4

Samantha and Logan struggled to keep their relationship a secret, but it was harder than they thought. Logan's pack was suspicious of Samantha, and they were constantly trying to uncover the truth. And Samantha's friends and coworkers were starting to notice that something was different about her.

One day, Samantha was out for a walk when she ran into one of Logan's pack members, a fierce-looking wolf named Max. He bared his teeth at her and growled, clearly trying to intimidate her.

"What are you doing here, human?" Max snarled. "You're not welcome in our territory."

"I-I'm just out for a walk," Samantha stammered, trying to hide her fear.

"Liar," Max snarled. "You're here to see Logan, aren't you? You're the reason he's been acting so different lately. You're the reason our pack is falling apart."

"That's not true," Samantha protested. "I care about Logan, and I would never do anything to hurt him or his pack."

"You may have him fooled, but you don't fool me," Max said, his eyes burning with hatred. "I know what you are, and I won't let you destroy our pack. I'll stop you, no matter what it takes."

Samantha's heart pounded in her chest as she turned and ran back to town, Max's threats echoing in her ears. She knew she had to warn Logan, but she didn't know how to reach him. She didn't have his phone number, and she couldn't exactly go to his house and knock on the door.

Desperate, she decided to go to the one place she knew Logan would be: the clearing in the woods where his pack transformed during the full moon. She knew it was dangerous, but she didn't care. She had to warn Logan and protect him from Max's threats.

As she entered the clearing, she saw Logan and his pack in their wolf forms. They were in the midst of their transformation, and they didn't notice her at first. But as she stepped closer, Logan's eyes locked on hers, and he shifted into his human form.

"Samantha, what are you doing here?" Logan asked, his voice filled with concern.

"I-I had to talk to you," Samantha said, her voice shaking. "Max threatened me. He knows about us, and he's going to do whatever it takes to keep us apart."

Logan's eyes flashed with anger, and he turned to face his pack. "Max, come forward," he commanded.

Max stepped forward, his eyes full of defiance. "What is it, alpha?" he asked, his voice dripping with contempt.

"You threatened Samantha," Logan said, his voice low and dangerous. "You defied my orders and put our pack in danger. You have betrayed the pack and your alpha. You must be punished."

"No," Max snarled. "I won't be punished for defending our pack from this human. She doesn't belong here, and she never will. I'll do whatever it takes to protect our pack from her."

"Enough," Logan said, his voice rising. "You have made your choice, Max. And now you must face the consequences."

Max bared his teeth and growled, but Logan was ready for him. He shifted into his wolf form and lunged at Max, his teeth bared. The two wolves fought fiercely, their snarls and growls filling the clearing.
