Chapter 4 - Press Enter

The sun has completely set under the horizon as the group looks up at the distant stars scattered across the sky. Everyone helps Darla back up as her blue dress turns back into an orange jumpsuit.

"You mentioned a place where we were completely free of the chance of being caught, right?" Galaxy questioned Darla.

"Yes. Before I was taken into custody I had and probably still have a good friend willing to house us for as long as we need," Darla explained.

"If you two haven't noticed, the sun has completely set and we are left to the mercy of Mother Nature," London pointed out.

"I'm more concerned that Galaxy's pocket is glowing," Darla remarked.

Galaxy takes the extendable wand she took from the cabin of the ship out of her pocket as it shines brightly in the night. She extends it to the max and is mesmerized by its glowing beauty.

"Wow, this is so awesome!" Galaxy exclaimed while waving the wand around.

A ball of bright energy quickly ejects itself from the wand, illuminating a path through the dark. The wand flies out of Galaxy's hand and floats beside her. The entire group is stunned by the beauty of the illuminated path and marvels at the sight.

"Does this path take us to where Darla had mentioned before?" Galaxy asked the wand.

A small gust of wind moves by as a quiet, female voice is heard.

"Yes…" The voice said as the wind rushed by.

"How do we know we can trust you won't lead us to danger? For all we know, you are a possessed object that might have it out for us," London skepticized.

"Smart boy. I, however, do not have it out for you. I only wish to help you and your family through the darkness of night. You freed my friend and me from an eternal prison and I am forever grateful for your deeds," The voice explained as another gust of wind moved by.

Zipper climbs onto London's head and waves at the wand.

"You two were trapped in there together. I'm surprised you two didn't break out of there by yourselves considering your magic and stuff," London stated.

"I can only use my magic at night and while my friend here is very powerful, he is small and most likely couldn't take on anything four times his height," The voice told London.

"He made two guys get married," Galaxy blurted.

The quiet voice laughs hysterically as Zipper facepalms.

"Married?! I thought your magic was pure darkness?" The voice questioned Zipper.

Zipper makes a bunch of gestures and movements.

"He said that he was meaning to make them question what they were doing with their lives and to seek a better job, but I guess they loved each other and are about to get married soon," The voice laughed.

"All right everyone, we must head out. The wand said that its magic only works at night, so we must get a move on," Darla said firmly.

Everyone agrees and begins following the brightly illuminated path through the night. Forty-five minutes pass of conversation, laughing, and walking as Darla begins to get concerned.

"How have we not collapsed from exhaustion yet?" Darla inquired.

"My magic heals and guides and unfortunately, can do nothing but," The voice replied.

"Were you two possessed objects before the discovery of Radioactive Island?" London added in question.

"No. We were two great friends before we were forced into these cursed objects. Our lives were completely normal until a third friend of ours invited us over and murdered us both. Our souls were placed into these objects and when he realized that we refused to use our magic to benefit him, he threw us out. A couple of years later, we were found by a man who is now the head of Station 46A," The voice explained to London.

"You poor souls. Is there any way we can free you, so you can move on to the next life?" Galaxy asked.

"As much as we would love to take you up on the offer, we can't. We swore to help those who needed it most and that the afterlife can wait," The voice remarked.

"What a brave gesture. I'm glad you have devoted your lives to bettering others and helping those around you, rather than revenge and madness," Darla responded.

An hour passes of some more conversation and they stumble upon an old sign.

"Cobalt City…" Galaxy read aloud.

"Yes! Cobalt City is where my friend lives! If you're wondering, by the way, this city got a mayor that loves to protect nature last year and she tore down this roadway to let the trees grow, and it is wild what a good job she has done," Darla stated.

Thirty minutes passed after they found the old sign and the illuminated path leads to a white house out in the countryside, away from most major neighborhoods. When they come out of the forest behind the white house, the entire flat landscape can be seen with the skyscrapers not too far in the distance. A few houses reside near their destination.

"We made it! I can't believe I actually get to see Scarlett again!" Darla screamed in excitement.

Darla climbs over the backyard fence and knocks on the back door. A girl with long, beautiful, black hair and wispy bangs opens the door, and her eyes widen.

"Darla! It's so good to see you, oh my lord! I thought you died like I can't believe you're here!" Scarlett yelled, hugging Darla tightly.

"I missed you too, best friend, but we have more urgent matters to attend to," Darla said as she stepped out of the way to reveal the group behind her.

Galaxy awkwardly laughs and waves.

"You get sentenced to death for one day and you bring back a whole ass family with you?" Scarlett sarcastically asked.

"Did you expect anything less?" Darla remarked, letting herself in.

"No, I did not. Come on in, you guys, and remember to lock the door on your way in," Scarlett said as she walked back into the house.

The group enters and London closes and locks the door behind him. Darla runs upstairs as the group explores the house.

"I claim this room!" Galaxy yells as she flops on the bed.

The wand follows her as London looks at the room next to Galaxy's.

"Oh, this room is lovely! This one is definitely mine!" London also yells from inside the room.

As they claim their rooms, a symbol matching the objects they took from the ship appears on the corresponding doors. A moon for Galaxy, a jagged spiral for London, and a mirror for Darla.

"Just barge into my house and claim rooms why don't you," Scarlett sarcastically remarked.

Everyone freshens up and changes clothes. They all eat and have a massive conversation with Scarlett about the adventure they had. The time is currently two in the morning.

"You mean to tell me that this little doll made two people get married?" Scarlett laughed loudly.

Zipper flops on the counter and gently moves his head up and down against the counter, simulating banging one's head against a wall.

"Don't worry. That is super cool, like, not a lot of people can say they got two people married," Scarlett chuckled as she stuffs a sandwich in her face.

"I think it's time for everyone to go to bed. It is five minutes past two in the morning and everyone needs their beauty sleep," Darla told the siblings.

"Don't have to tell me twice!" Galaxy yelled as she rushes to her room, slamming the door behind her.

"What a chaotic child, oh my holy," London said while facepalming.

London also goes to his room along with Zipper.

"Meanwhile, we can eat ice cream and talk about the parts of the adventure I did not tell you about mainly because it's personal," Darla whispered to Scarlett.

The girls laugh as they walk upstairs and enter Darla's room. Everyone is settling in for the night and eventually, falls asleep because tomorrow is a new day.
