Chapter 16 - Getting Along

The villagers did not ask too much. They only asked what the child's name was. In a panic, Yang Wan named the little girl "Yi Shi" and raised her until now.

Yi Shi watched as her mother started spacing out again. She couldn't help but sigh. She decided to personally investigate tomorrow and see what this Eldest Miss was up to when she moved to Yu Heng's house.

She had to make sure that Yu Heng's heart was filled with her. This was the only way she could change her fate. Otherwise, she could only live her entire life facing the yellow soil.

After Yi Ke was full, she washed her face, brushed her teeth, and went to bed. After Yu Heng cleaned the lunch box, he returned it to Wan Shi.

Wan Shi looked at the young man in front of him who refused to accept the money. For a moment, he did not know what to say. He could only pat his shoulder and say, "You don't have to run back and forth so many times in the future. You can bring it over when you get your next meal. It's convenient and saves effort."

Buzz!

Unable to stand it any longer, Yi Ke sat up. This was the tenth time she'd been woken up by a mosquito.

She had brought a lot of things with her. She had even brought along the flower dew and electronic mosquito incense. However, she did not expect that Yu Heng's family was so poor that they did not even have wires. Her electronic mosquito incense had nowhere to be placed.

Flower dew and mosquito repellent water were useless against the poisonous mosquitoes on the mountain. The mosquito army had probably not seen a buffet with such delicate skin and tender flesh like Yi Ke for many years. They swarmed forward, and her exposed parts were covered in mosquito bites.

Yi Ke let out a long sigh and looked at the bright moon outside the window. She experienced the feeling of 'opening her eyes and waiting for dawn'.

At five in the morning, Yu Heng woke up on time to get water, wash up, and cook. He hadn't done anything the entire afternoon yesterday, so he had to go to the fields quickly to do more work today. He also had to bring Yi Ke's breakfast over.

Yu Heng calculated what he had to do in his heart. He turned around with the basin in his hand, and the next second, the basin smashed into his feet.

Yi Ke's hair was very long, and she was still wearing a pure white nightdress. There was red rose embroidery on her chest. She had been tortured by mosquitoes for the entire night. She stood behind Yu Heng with two huge dark circles under her eyes and watched him busy.

Yu Heng, on the other hand, didn't hear Yi Ke open the door and walk because he hadn't slept well in the morning. In addition, he wasn't paying attention to what was going on in his mind, so when he turned around, he thought he saw a ghost. He was so frightened that he didn't hold the basin properly, causing it to hit his feet.

The two of them, who were still half-asleep, stood in the small courtyard, staring at each other. It was only when Yu Heng barely recognized Yi Ke and called her that the stalemate was broken. The two of them heaved a sigh of relief.

Yu Heng bent down and picked up the basin. He refilled the basin and prepared to cook. During this time, he even secretly rubbed his feet that were in pain.

"What's wrong?" After preparing breakfast for the fire, Yu Heng turned around and asked this delicate young lady what she wanted to do again. Why did she pretend to be a ghost early in the morning to scare people?

Yi Ke didn't say anything. She just stretched out her fair and tender arms.

Yu Heng took a look. It was filled with mosquito bites, one by one. He wondered how many she had fed yesterday.

"Why don't you go back to the village chief's house? I'm close to the forest. There are many mosquitoes and they're vicious. Moreover, my house doesn't have a socket. You can't use the things you brought." Just as Yu Heng finished speaking, he saw Yi Ke raise her head pitifully. Even her face was bitten by a few mosquitoes. Coupled with her slightly tired expression from not resting well, she looked as pitiful as could be.

Yu Heng's heart softened. He sighed. "Let Xiangxiang find you some mosquito repellent herbs. I guarantee that you can sleep well tonight, okay?"

Yi Ke nodded and scratched her arm, preparing to return to her room. Yu Heng watched as she scratched her arm and leg until they were covered in red marks. In the end, he returned to his room and handed her a tube of toothpaste. "Apply this."

Yi Ke sized him up suspiciously. When Yu Heng saw that she didn't take it, he thought that she found it dirty again, so he didn't care about her anymore. He placed it on the table and went to find Wan Shi to get Yi Ke's breakfast.

Wan Shi was still worried about Yi Ke living alone. He knew how delicate this lady was. She would probably have to go back after suffering for a night. He waited early in the morning, but Yu Heng was still the only one who came. Wan Shi finally followed behind Yu Heng. He had to see if Eldest Miss had any instructions today.

When Yi Ke came out, she was pulled back by Wan Shi with a long sigh. Yu Heng's sharp eyes saw a few small white dots on Yi Ke's mosquito bites. She must have applied her toothpaste.

Yu Heng found it inexplicably funny. It turned out that these city people also knew how to solve problems using the countryside methods.
