"Try it. If it's good, you can take care of my business. I won't force you," Su Wen passed him a small piece of the cake.
The middle-aged woman's hand was trembling as she held the small piece of cake. She stared at the cake, afraid it would fly away in the blink of an eye. She had worked hard for half her life and usually ate very simply. She was never willing to eat the eggs laid by the hens and would store them all to sell in exchange for oil and salt.
She got some good things during the new year, but all of them were taken by her mother-in-law. When it was her turn, she only had water to drink.
