"Who's in there or what is in there? The box won't stop jiggling for goodness sake." Rosy grumbled staring at the wall clock for the thirteenth time since she walked into the room.
"Nanny Elsa! Nanny Elsa! Oh please don't make me shout unless I might as well succumb to my bad legs. Oh the good old days." She lamented dragging her swollen feet along as she advanced towards the white fancy box decorated with pretty ribbons.
"What in the world is in there? It's been such a hassle for a while hmmmmm let's see." She settled on a small blue fluffy chair, just immediately she breathed out a sign of relief rubbing her left palm rhythmically on both legs. Then the door creaked open almost banging the wall....
"I'm so sorry Ms Rosy I was making sure Miss Amber's dinner isn't delayed." Nanny Elsa defended catching bits of her breath, her chest heaving at it's best pace.
"Nanny Elsa let me ask you a very crucial question." Aunt Rosy withdrawing her hands from the box which she would have opened as of then if not for the distraction. She stood up in defiance.
"How many staffs do we have in service at this mansion?? And that I would like a quick reply isn't a problem." She asked coldly turning her back at the middle aged nanny. She strolled to the window letting her fingers play on the multi colored curtain pinned with several bows.
"Ten Ms Rosy if that's including the butler Mr Fernando and...and... his ehmmmmm." Nanny Elsa tried her best to reply back in the most swiftest way possible but still ended up stammering.
Cursing silently she bit her lips slightly in frustration.
"In service Nanny Elsa the latter isn't considered a staff. Well, I guess I've been slacking off lately because some things don't seem to be in order around here unlike the last time I came in." She said smiling shallowly, she turned to face the middle aged lady then her expression changed to a stern look.
"What happened wa...." Nanny Elsa made to explain but she choked on her worlds.
This Ms always managed to frighten the daylight out of her.
"Take that silly doggy out of the box it's been such a nuisance." Aunt Rosy snarled making her way to the door, her heels click-clacking against the bare tiles but she halted in her steps turning to the Nanny again.
"And where in God's name is Amber Daves??her piano classes is in five minutes after dinner there won't be any search party today looking for our dear Miss Explorer of the universe." She announced with an annoyed tone just before she held the door knob.
"Uhmmm Miss Amber is preparing for ..." Nanny Elsa said almost in time.
"Find her and bring her to the table. I presume I don't have to spell out the duties assigned to you in this very mansion." Aunt Rosy said disrupting Nanny Elsa's statement before she opened the door and left
Breathing out a sigh of relief she hurried to the white box, which was still wiggling nonstop and even worse than before.
"Oh poor thing! You must have been so scared. She's so mean isn't she?" Asked Nanny Elsa bringing out a white fluffy and furry little dog out of the box caressing the body all the while.
"You must be the cutest thing I've seen today Peggy darling calm down baby don't fret I'm here okay." She petted the panting dog kissing it's ears, the dog only wag its tiny tail enjoying the affection. Then a high pitched little voice rang out of the blues alarming her
"Nanny Elsa! come in right now. The mirror broke and there's a double me inside." The little voice cried out for help,it called out again from the bathroom door.
"Amber my dear Are you alright? What took you so long in there?" Placing the dog gently on a pillow Nanny Elsa scurried to the door immediately. Then she saw her little Miss bent on the floor staring into the broken pieces of glass determinedly.
"Get up right away Amber Daves! Oh my gracious Lord Ms Rosy is going to be so mad if she could picture your state pumpkin. Remember, you don't get to obtain not even minor scratches before your birthday. It's bad news." Wailed Nanny Elsa raising the crouched Amber with both hands as her eyes widened in surprise.
"A quick reminder that you don't get to call me by my full name Nanny Elsa unless Auntie would be so mad at you." Amber countered mischievously smiling knowingly at her Nanny. Standing reluctantly she took a piece of the glass dangling it in front of her Nanny's face.
"Ok now lil Missy what's the catch?" Nanny Elsa asked shaking her head in surrender.
"We don't want Auntie getting mad at neither of us right?? Then help me get these pieces of my shattered mirror together. I'm working on something." Amber's voice rang with finality as she leaned towards the glass pieces again picking them carefully.
"Stop fooling around your Aunt Rosy wants you at the dinner table within five minutes." Nanny Elsa's said turning to move out of the bathroom but Amber grabbed her hand almost in a jiffy.
"Then there's no time. You see Nanny I was enjoying the view of my most pretty delicate face reflection in the mirror. I guess the universe was also enthralled by my beauty then BOOM!" She said excitingly and stopped for a moment
"Boom what?" Nanny Elsa entwined her fingers in anticipation.
"There was a double me." Amber replied in a near whisper tone.....
