Foivos is a tall man his face is more beautiful than handsome. He has short pink hair man with grey eyes. He also wears glasses.
- No last names? asks Jynn
- No. I am a commoner, after all.
- Who cares about that. Noah says after extending his hand. Noah Arcadios but I am sure you already know.
Foivos seem shocked at first but he quickly regains his composure and shakes hand with Noah. Foivos starts heading upstairs but stops
- What are you guys doing? asks Foivos
- That's what I wanna ask you. says Noah
- We need to go to my office to talk about the contract. replies Foivos
- There is no need for a contract. We are here to become Independent Adventurers
- WHAT!!??
- There is no need to yell. says Jynn. As you heard we want to become Independent Adventurers
- Oh.... I... See... Would you mind giving me a minute? asks Foivos
- No need to call the headquarters, Brand Head Foivos. says Noah. No matter what you offer me, I have no intention to become affiliated with the guild.
{Foivos}
" He... He's completely reading me!"
- In that case, you can fill out the forms and leave the part you don't want to fill up empty. says Foivos
- I like you. says Noah. Most people would have kept trying to change my mind but you didn't. Can I ask why are you not trying to convince me?
- You are still young, therefore, there is a chance you might change your mind later in the future. I am simply trying to keep a good relationship with you for when that time comes. says Foivos with a smile
{Noah}
" Not bad. It is better to keep a good relationship with me than keep annoying me and risk getting a bad one. He's good."
[After filling out the form]
- So, now we are gonna do the adventurer exam, right. says Abel
- You are quite knowledgeable when it comes to adventurers. says Foivos
- Well, I did want to become one so I did a lot of research. answers Foivos
Foivos look at Noah
{Foivos}
" This child also is incredibly mature for his age... Is that the result that comes from hanging out with Noah Arcadios?"
- Just like your friend said, you know have to pass the adventurer exam. There are three parts to the exam. The first one is a written test, the second is a sparring match with one of our Affiliated adventurers, and lastly is a quest completion.
- THERE IS A WRITTEN TEST! yells Gancelot.
Gancelot looks at Noah but Noah ignores him. Foivos lets out a small laugh
- You don't need to worry. The written exam is about general knowledge and your total score includes all three parts of the exam. That result will then determine your adventurer rank.
- So when are we taking the test? asks Juliana
- You can take it now or tomorrow but there is a fixed time at which the exams are carried out. There is one starting in 20 minutes.
Abel and Juliana turn around and looks at Noah
{Juliana}
" So this is why he left us half of the day to do whatever we wanted. He already knew at which time the exam was gonna be carried out."
{Abel}
" Did Boss know that there was gonna be an exam now? But I didn't even see him go on the adventurer guild website nor did he access their application."
- We are gonna take it now. says Noah
- Ok, then follow me. says Foivos
Foivos leads them to a room full of participants for the adventurer exam. Jynn stops at the door of the room.
- Good luck. says Jynn to the group
- I, for one, will definitely need some. says Gancelot
The group enters the room and picks numbers in a box. The numbers are to assign exam participants to their seats. After picking a number, the group separates and each of them goes sits down in their assigned seat.
[After the written exam]
The group regroups after handing back their exam sheets.
- How did it go for you guys? asks Abel
- It wasn't too hard. says Juliana
- It was easy. answer Noah
- Are you guys sure that we received the same exam sheet? That was hard. says Gancelot while exhaling
Abel pats him on the back
- Don't worry. Nobody expected you to pass the written exam. Just do your best on the other two parts.
- WHAT THE HELL?
The examinee group heads to the backyard of the guild. When they arrive there, a group of adventurers is waiting for them.
- Well, let's start the second part of the exam. says Foivos. The numbers you received during the written test are written on one of the adventurer's tags that is present. When an adventurer steps up, if your number is the same as the one written on their tags then that means it's your turn to go. Simple! Right?
{Noah}
" Including us, there are ten examinees so why are there 11 adventurers on the other side?"
Noah raises his hand
- What is it, Arcadios? asks Foivos
When Foivos says Arcadios the 11 adventurers and the 8 other examinees are all startled and their attention now goes to Noah.
- He is an Arcadios? whispers one of the examinees
- He's young. Doesn't that mean that he is the third son? whisper another examinee
- The one that became the youngest King's Sword? whisper an examinee
- Nah. He is an Unofficial King's Sword. says an examinee
- That means he has the potential to become an Official King's Sword. says the other examinee
- Ok! Quiet, please. says Foivos. What is your question, Noah?
- There is a quest board behind the adventurer. Does that mean that we can take a quest as soon as we are done with our spar?
- You noticed? asks Foivos
- I mean... It's right in front of our faces. says Noah
- Yeah but normally examinees are so nervous that they don't notice.
- Is that so? says Noah
- You are right. After you are done with your spar, you can immediately head to the quest board we prepared for examinees. You can pick a quest and leave to do it. Each and every quest are threat-level 10 monster hunting.
{Noah}
" At least it was supposed to be."
{Bright}
" What do you mean?"
{Noah}
" If I remember it correctly, in my past life today during this exam all of the examinees were murdered by a new monster."
{Bright}
" Noah. You do realize that you are currently not strong enough to fight such a powerful monster, right?"
{Noah}
"Don't worry. The monster is not that strong. The only reason why it was able to kill the examinees is because they were inexperienced ."
{Bright}
" Go tell that to someone that didn't see the face of some these examinees. Some of them are definitely in their thirties."
{Noah}
" It's not that uncommon to see, you know. Some of them lost their jobs, some of them need a second income, some of them are trying to make it big, while others are simply trying to accomplish their dreams. Adventurers are free and depending on their rank they can make a lot of money. An A rank adventurer makes as much money as a company CEO. That's why a lot of people look up to them. Respect from people and tons of money, what's there not to like about the job?"
{Bright}
" The life-risking part, maybe?"
{Noah}
" With the money S-rank adventurers make they can buy tons of health potions of the highest level. Let's not talk about those SS-rank and SSS-rank. They are considered to be on par with King's Sword but refused the title not to be tied down to their kingdom."
- Now let's start. says Foivos
The first adventurer to step up has the number 8 on his tag.
- I am a C- rank adventurer and I am a mid- bronze rank... I am not telling my energy of course.
- Looks like I am going first. says Abel
Abel walks up to his opponent. Foivos approaches both of them and gives them a cloth. The adventurer tucks the cloth inside his pants but lets a part of it hang out. Abel does the same
- Now before we start, let me explain the rules. This is not a simple sparring match in which you hit each other until one either gives up or passes out. In this sparring match, your goal is to either destroy the cloth or steal the cloth.
{Noah}
" He makes it sound simple but this is gonna be hard for Abel, Gancelot, and Juliana. You not only have to try to steal a cloth from a veteran adventurer but you also have to protect your own."
- Now, that I explained the rules.... You can.... START!
Abel takes a few steps back
{Abel}
" The first thing I need to do is figure out what type of energy he uses."
Abel extends his hand and uses a spell
-Mana Bullet!
- Good choice. says, Noah
A bullet of mana forms in Abel's hand and he shoots it toward the adventurer's cloth. The adventurer puts his hand in front of the bullet and blocks it
{Abel}
" A naturally strong physique that also was also trained. He is a martial artist."
The adventurer starts running toward Abel
- Mana Bullet, Speed Version! Mana Bullet, Speed Version! Mana Bullet, Speed Version! Mana Bullet, Speed Version!
- Body Art! Reinforcement! yells the adventurer
Abel creates 4 mana bullets and shoots them one by one, however, the adventurer runs through all of them. He reaches Abel and lowers himself to grab the cloth, at this moment Abel puts his hand right next to his head and cast another mana bullet
- Mana Bullet, Power Version. says Abel calmly
The adventurer stops
- Do I shoot it? asks Abel. Even with Reinforcement you are definitely gonna feel it.
The adventurer retracts his hand and Abel snatches his cloth.
{Foivos}
" Impressive. This child made up the difference between their experience and the energy they have with his tactic. Is this normal or is this another influence that Noah Arcadios had on these children?"
Abel goes back to stand with the group and high-fives Gancelot
- YAY! they both say
- Well done, Abel. says, Noah
- Thank you, Boss! replies Abel
The next adventurer to step up has the number one on his tag.
-Finally! It's my time to shine! says Gancelot
Gancelot walks up to his opponent and they both put their cloth on. Gancelot takes a running start stance
- This is gonna be over before you even know it. says Gancelot
- START! yells Foivos
- Wind Magic, Wind Step!
A sphere of wind forms under Gancelot's feet and explode. The blast propels him toward his opponent but his opponent dodges him
*BOOOOOM*
Gancelot crashes into a tree.
- What the hell? says the adventurer
Gancelot gets up and walks back to the backyard with his head down. Noah smiles
- I win. says Gancelot while lifting his head and revealing his opponent's cloth that he grabbed with his mouth
- HUH!? says the adventurer
- Did you really think that the technique my master thought me was gonna fail? Gancelot says with a smug look
Gancelot gives back the cloth to Foivos and goes back to the group.
-YAY! Abel and Gancelot yell while high fiving
- Did you see that Master!? asks Gancelot to Noah
{Foivos}
" Noah was the one to teach him that? But if I remember it right, Naoh is a lightning magic user. Is he a dual-element magician?"
- This is taking too much time! says examinee number two while walking up to the adventurer with the number two on his tag
- What the hell is wrong with him? asks Juliana
- Let's do this old man. says examinee number two
{Noah}
" This guy... he looks like... Rex Ulvan. The guild master of the Ulvan guild. In seven years, when the Rifts will start appearing, he will be one of the first to create a guild."
- You shouldn't talk to those that are older than you like that. says Noah. How old are you?
- You talking to me, you fucking noble? says Rex. I am 20 years old. Why?
{Noah}
" So it really is him. His blatant hatred for nobles seems to have always existed, huh? Now the question is, what should I do with him?"
