Felix was over the moon with happiness. He was stuck at the 8 circle of knight apprentices for a couple of years already and could not progress no matter what he did. He thought his little brother Greg will surpass him in the near future and he will stay behind. Now he was very excited about the fact that he was only one step away from getting to a level of a bono mighty knight. A true knight. That was a big threshold that a lot of people could not overcome. Now with the potential help from Leo he was sure that his chances getting there were higher. Greg was also very excited about his brother success. He was worried that his progress will affect Felix not in the right way. Now he was relived. He felt that he still did not get to the bottleneck of the 8 circle yet but it was close. He could progress with no worries now.
Leo looked at this scene with a smile. He did not care helping this guy. It was a plus for his side in the negotiations.
"I guess we finished the testing phase. Let's end this meeting already and come to an agreement. I told you what I wanted yesterday and it did not change. What do you think?" Leo asked.
He wanted to get influence and power. It will open some doors to him. If he will get along with Elly he will be glad. If not, he still gets all the power and she could just be his wife in name and birth children from a man she would love. He did not really mind that. He had a very long lifespan. David told him that he will live few thousands of years. He was not really sure about that, but he was sure he will live for a long enough time to find his love and establish his family.
Elen changed his elated expression from his son breakthrough to a more serious one and said: "We agree to your request, but we do have some conditions. You have to teach Elly everything you know about magic and help her in her path of a mage, you need to protect her and not cause any intentional harm to her, you cannot scheme against our family members. If there is some real danger in one of your plans that can cause harm to one of our family members you need to tell us. It will be ok if we agree to help you from our own will. Of course, we will take you in as a family member with all the good and the bad it can bring with the potential good times and hardships our family will go through. We can disagree on some things, but we are not bad people, and we will take care of you. We expect you will do the same. You will inherit the family at the age of 13 when you become an adult. I cannot give you all the power now. It can lead to the downfall of the family. If you need to leave for some reason, I can manage the family in your place. Of course, I will take care of the fact that you will inherit the baron title from me. I want those conditions written in the magic contract that we sign."
Leo contemplated for a short time and said: "It sounds good to me. Now I want to have access to the family funds and become the leader of your family adventurer and mercenary teams if you have them. From what I heard from talking with different people you should have something like that. I am sure in my ability to lead those teams and get them to a higher level in a short amount of time. I'm ready to teach Elly my breathing technique but it will all depend on her. I can show her a skill book of only the heal spell. I don't have any more water base spells. I have spells from other elements that she can try and duplicate those spells with the water element. Her ability to succeed depends more on her then on me. Also don't expect her to become a mage apprentice tomorrow. It took me two in a half months to get to a level one mage apprentice. I have a very high aptitude to my element and because of that it should take her around a year or even a little more to achieve the same thing. We are going to become a family so I can tell you my real power level, but you must keep it as a secret. It will be also part of our agreement. You will not disclose to anyone information that I don't want about me and also you cannot harm me intentionally or plot against me."
After some contemplation Elen nodded and said: "I see. Can you tell me your power level now?"
"I am third circle mage apprentice now. It will take me some time to get to the next level." Leo said.
The Shmidt family members fell silent. They did not know how to respond. He was ten years old but already that strong. They did not think they heard of someone getting to such a high level at such young age.
Elen voiced those thoughts out load and said: "Leo you are a true prodigy of your generation. I will wait for the day you will get to the top of this continent and bring the Shmidt family together with you."
Leo smiled and said: "I will try my best. Let's sign the contract now. I will write it with my magic power so you all can see it on the document. If you want to change something, tell me and if you agree you need a drop of your blood to touch this parchment. After all of us will enhance this contract with our blood the deal will be sealed."
Leo wrote the things that were said in the meeting now. After Elen saw what was written he nodded and made a drop of his blood fall onto the parchment. All the other Shmidt family members did the same thing. The two brothers also did the same thing with much more enthusiasm than they ever imagined. Like any other warrior they respected strength and this kiddo showed them that he is on par with their family head. It was more than enough for them. Also, his character was good. He was worthy of their little sister. After that Leo did the same and the deal was sealed. There was one more family member in the Shmidt Baron household from this day on.
