Now, Kaido had only one thing in mind.
How did all off this happen?
What caused him to be running away alongside an ogre from the village he almost called home?
These questions were going through his mind while he was hastily running away into the Dark Forest.
Just as he and his companion managed to run past the first tree, he heard a bell rang.
In most cases, the bell would ring only when the village was being attacked.
No matter if monsters, or raiders.
But Kaido knew neither of them made the shaman ring the bell. The true reason was the disappearance of the Book of Change. Looking at the book in his hands, he couldn't help but to smile bitterly. It could be the only reason.
And now, he would now most likely be hunted down by the hunters of the village.
He lived with them for 17 years. He once even took part on one of these hunts.
And so, he knew exactly how good they were in their job.
Escape was impossible. He would be found. It was only a matter of when.
But even in this desperate moment he still held hope.
Voron, the first God that he met after his first death, made him a promise. And now, clenching the damn book tighter, he continued to run.
This was most likely his last chance for survival. His last chance to change his fate, and maybe become something more. All he had to do was get to his cave finish the ritual.
But of course, it wasn't going to be that easy.
Looking back, he realized that he was being followed.
And the thing that followed him in the sky was none other than Samarel.
Samarel was a familiar of Andros, a blind hunter.
But that didn't stop him from being the greatest scout in the village.
Thanks to his unique ability, he could see through the eyes of his bird Samarel.
And now Samarel was flying over him.
Who could have thought that he was going to be found so soon.
He knew he could not escape the sight of Samarel.
Andros wouldn't allow that to happen.
Kaido had a quite a lot of experience when it came to birds.
After all, not only was one of his closest friends a bird also, but he also knew a god that took the form of a crow.
And he knew Samarel.
He was loyal to Andros to the core.
And Kaido knew it would be useless trying to take control of that bird.
He already tried that, on numerous occasions.
Now he had a problem.
Because of Samarel, Andros knew were they were, and that meant that probably the entire hunter team knew his location as well.
He had to somehow lose that flying guy.
If he couldn't, then his pursuers would most likely find his secret cave, and him within it.
He wouldn't be capable of finishing the ritual in time, and he would most likely get executed on the spot.
Oh, Thomas would love to do just that.
After a few moments, he opened the book and proceeded with ripping out the first page out.
Closing the book, Kaido now stared into the blank for a while.
Then the page in his hands started to show letters and numbers.
//Kaido Unwei
Title: Spellcaster/ Disciple of a Shaman/ The mind Reader/
Level: 6
Essence: 7/10
Health: 6/20
And just a few seconds later, Kaido could now see new titles appearing on his status.
The Betrayer/ The Thief/ The Banished
Great, now he was banned from the village, which meant that he everyone new that he was the one who stole the book. Now there was no way that he could ever return to the village.
Not like he planned on returning anytime soon.
But now he had to do something about Samarel.
The mind controlled Ogre behind him, while strong, wouldn't be able to do shit against the bird.
He was a brute.
Not an Archer, or a magician.
That meant that Kaido had to use the Book again.
Opening the book, Kaido saw that the book had now eight pages again.
Then, he ripped out the third and fifth page.
The third page then showed him a map.
The map of the dark forest and a few dots.
He then searched for the blue dot and found it a few seconds later.
"So we are about to pass by the territory of the mutated apes. Never in my life wound I have thought that I'd be happy seeing them."
Looking at the map, he saw now red dots, and green dots closing into him.
The red dots represented monsters, while the green ones showed the location of Humans.
And it wouldn't take a genius figuring out that these were Hunters.
And they were closing in.
Then the map started burning up, until nothing but ashes remained of that page.
"So soon already? Darn it."
Looking back, Kaido could still see the bird up in the skies.
"Damn you Samarel. Do I really have to use the fifth page on you?"
He had no choice. Kaido understood that he had to use the page now, hoping it would summon an artifact that would allow him somehow take care of that annoying bird.
After a while, a little drawing appeared on the fifth paper.
It resembled something of a lightning-shaped staff.
The Staff of Thunder.
Rank: Epic
The staff was created long ago by a wizard that worshiped the skies. In his studies, he had created a staff that would allow him to summon lighting. Not long after its creation, the lightning god blessed the staff that from whatever point of the sky the staff was pointed at, lighting would strike down at the staff. After many uses, the staff began to lose its sturdiness, and were it to be used ten more times, the staff would be no longer able to withstand the damage and dissipate into dust.
"Only an Epic Artifact? Wait, that is exactly what I need. Where is that bird right now?"
Stopping in his tracks, he tore the paper in two and the staff of thunder appeared in his hands.
Then he stared back at his pursuer.
"There you are", thought Kaido to himself," let's see how you survive this."
He pointed the staff at Samarel, mentally hoping that it would work.
A lighting struck right from the black sky and hit the tip of the staff.
But not without going through the chest of Samarel.
Now it was falling to its demise.
With Samarel taken care of, Kaido went further into the Dark Forest, closely followed by the Ogre.
