Lina couldn't deny she hadn't bore the suspicion that she might have been the reason behind the invitation.
From the first day they met at Ena's school, she had her suspicions — even though it seemed unreasonable because he couldn't have known she was in Newfaux — and when he gave that invitation to her, she had even more suspicions.
"I don't know what you're trying to say, but are you, by chance, saying it has all been a ploy?" Lina raised her brow at him, her eyes not shielding away her suspicion.
"What ploy?"
"You tell me." She tipped her chin to him, fully aware he understood her words.
Pete chuckled at the stubborn armour she had shrugged on. She had no idea how lovely she looked when she wore a scowl, did she? He doubted it.
"Relax, sugar. As much as I'd like to take credit for it, meeting you again was solely a coincidence. But every other time after that...I wanted to see you." He confessed.
