Selena's POV
I could tell that my father was so excited about the pageant while it felt like I was having a panic attack. I felt so worried that my mom would show up at the island's coliseum and ruin my sister's most awaited night.
I knew Gwen didn't remember our mother enough since she was so young back then, and she longed to see her. But my sister stopped talking about her when she realized it made me feel uneasy, and I don't like the idea of talking about our mother.
I will tell her after the pageant. I can't talk to my father about our mom without getting hurt and angry with her.
"How was your night?" Dad asked.
"It was okay," I replied, and he gave me a quizzical look.
"Just okay? Didn't you have a guest last night?" He asked, and I blushed.
"It wasn't that special, Dad," I answered as my gratification was replaced with dread after I met my mother. She totally ruined my day.
