Chapter 215. Last Train Home
---
DIO has appeared!?
But how did he show up like this?!
Looking at the flamboyant figure with golden hair before them, almost all the viewers, after seeing the familiar "←—To Be Continued" sign, immediately began dragging the progress bar back.
They kept rewinding the plot, back, and back, and back again!
All the way to the scene where the souls of Avdol and Iggy ascended peacefully to heaven.
And then...
Nothing!?
Yes, it seemed they weren't mistaken before.
As viewers, they had been stunned earlier not only because of the massive impact of Avdol and Iggy's deaths but also because, after they'd vented their frustration in the comment section, the screen of "Stardust Crusaders" suddenly shifted away from the mansion.
Instead of focusing on Polnareff and Jotaro, it jumped back to Japan?!
It didn't show Polnareff's storyline but instead presented one of the key reasons for the Egypt campaign—Kujo Holy—and her current situation.
Joseph and the others had hidden the truth for so long, but they underestimated a parent's love for their child and a wife's understanding of her husband. Suzi Q sensed something was off.
But as a wife and a mother, she chose to trust Joseph, just as she had decades ago?!
Even though this out-of-nowhere side story might not seem bad in itself, since Kujo Holy was a key reason Jotaro embarked on this journey, as well as one of the main reasons DIO needed to be defeated, this sudden shift was clearly meant to remind the audience of the initial setup and build the atmosphere for the final battle.
It was a common industry tactic to revisit past plot points in the story.
To give a comparison, think of that "Naruto" moment during Naruto and Sasuke's final fight, where a promise about becoming Hokage or marrying Sakura was mentioned, reinforcing the theme of "Naruto" as a whole through a flashback.
But the previous fight between Polnareff and Vanilla Ice was just shot too well~~
Especially when Polnareff, in such a satisfying manner, killed Vanilla Ice, delivering both physical and emotional blows. Watching Avdol and Iggy's souls smile as they ascended to the sky was truly a tear-jerker, making everyone angrily curse at Green Dolphin Studio for their heartless storytelling.
Compared to such intense emotions, Kujo Holy, who had little screen time in "Stardust Crusaders", and Suzi Q, who also had a small role in "Battle Tendency", were key characters, yet they couldn't match the power of Avdol's relieved smile.
Given the circumstances, it was impressive that the audience even remembered to drag the progress bar back to watch this unexpected side story.
Even though they weren't as dazed as before, those who rewound the video, like Mista and the others, were obviously doing so out of curiosity about why DIO appeared later.
But as time passed without them seeing what they were hoping for, impatience began to set in.
Especially when, after that segment, the story returned to the mansion but didn't immediately switch to the DIO-Polnareff confrontation they'd expected.
Instead, the focus shifted to Jotaro and his group.
Jotaro's team was finally closing in on Polnareff, just a few rooms away, but on their way, they encountered the last enemy DIO had left in the mansion.
It wasn't even a Stand user—just a zombie!
And to top it off, the zombie's name was "Big Idiot," and he really was an idiot!?
So much so that the fight with Big Idiot turned out to be even more lackluster than the scene of Suzi Q visiting Holy in Japan.
To put it simply, Big Idiot charged in, Big Idiot got knocked down, and then he became a "helpful guide" saying, "This way, sir," and led the way.
The viewers, who had patiently rewatched the entire sequence, were just about to lose their cool, thinking that more random scenes would play before the real main storyline began.
But then—
"Last Train Home."
This song, a track from the last century, suddenly hit the audience with an unstoppable force as various instruments kicked in!
The drumbeats mimicked the sound of a rolling train, while the electric guitar and synthesizer together expressed the sorrow of parting from a close friend.
It was as if viewers were saying goodbye to old friends, boarding this homeward train, taking out an old photo from their pocket to recall memories of the journey. Despite sighing over the fleeting nature of time and the sadness of parting, they couldn't stop. They had to keep going, watching the footsteps disappear into the desert and continuing on their remaining journey.
This ending theme encapsulated the entirety of Jotaro and his group's journey, displaying their experiences in vivid detail for the viewers!
Of course, this wasn't the first time the audience had heard this ending.
But compared to the flashy opening theme, this ending, with no special effects and just a panoramic display of the journey's landscapes, was pure instrumental music and didn't catch much attention.
Unlike the constantly analyzed opening sequence, this ending was something viewers quickly skipped after hearing it once.
But now, when it played again, even the restless viewers, frustrated by not seeing the content they wanted, found their hearts oddly calming down.
"Narancia, are you crying?"
"Waaah~~ And you're talking about me, Mista! You're crying too!" Narancia sobbed. "Besides, there's just sand in my eyes! Waaahhh—!!"
The wheels of fate continued turning, eventually leading to a place called "Stone Ocean".
In this ending, Mista seemed to see such a scene—he saw Avdol, Iggy, and Jotaro reunited here.
And he regretted it.
He should have taken the Shinkansen to Green Dolphin Studio yesterday, even if it meant being punished by Bucciarati, just to make Pucci and the others experience what it meant to face the wrath of the audience!
"Damn it! Green Dolphin Studio, and Pucci! Don't let me run into you in Japan!!" Mista swore fiercely in his heart, tears streaming down his face.
And then...
The next day, they accompanied Giorno to Green Dolphin Studio...
