Simon stood there utterly shocked at what he saw. The Dean of the school was an Orc .... a genuine honest to god Orc. He turned to look at Adrielle to see her face at such a surprising occurrence, but all he saw was a look of unbridled will and want. He tilted his head and said "Earth to Adrielle, hello what's going going on". She turned to him with a slight tinge of blush on her beautiful skin and said "nothing ... it's just that man up there is Dean Ragnar the iron willed ... he is the greatest mage in the history of magic i hope to one day beat him in skill and knowledge and become the greatest witch to ever exist". He laughed and shook him head and heard someone bellow " if you two lover birds at the back are done talking i was about to inform you of what is going to happen and what the results will mean". Simon and Adrielle both blushed brightly and hurriedly kept quiet as the dean continued to speak.
He explained that each student should step up when there names are called and touch each of the different color orbs next to him to see which elements they have affinity with and how strong said affinity is. The stronger the affinity the more halo's of color that represents that element will hover above there heads. Thereafter he said that each halo can hover above a person for each element is 12 which then means they are perfectly in touch with that element. Then he told them what color orb represents what element
Red is for fire
Purple is for lightning
Black is for decay
White is for air
Brown is for earth
Green is for nature
Gold is for vitality
Blue is for water
The dean then said it is normal to have an affinity for 1 or 2 elements, and its uncommon to have 3 or 4, and its rare to have more then 4 because the more elements you have an affinity with the harder it is to train because the more effort it requires to perfect how in touch you are with them because if you don't have control you could hurt yourself or those around you. The students in the hall started to mutter and whisper among each other excited about the prospect of what elements they may have an affinity with. There after he said that each element has a mage or witch that excels in that field and that mage or witch can choose to take you in and privately tutor you or you will just have to take the normal classes like everyone else.
The Dean thereafter began calling out names and things started to get exciting he began in alphabetical order and it started with man that was oddly extremely short as his height didn't even reach Simons chest his name was Alrik Aagaard, he strutted up the stage and stood next to the Dean and waited for the dean to tell him what to do. The dean then told him to put his hand on all of the globes one by one and try to sense the element inside it, Alrik smirked as he reached out his hand and touched the red orb first. For the next 1 minute he just stood there with his hand pressed up against the orb then the orb shone red and 9 red halos surrounded him he then moved onto the pruple and it gave him a faint nearly completed halo, he then turned to the dean and asked what does that mean the dean laughed and said "ah yes i forgot to mention for you to have an affinity with any element you need a full bright halo " he then signalled for Alrik to continue all but the the rest gave either incomplete or faint halo's besides the blue halo which gave him a staggering 11 bright halo's and 1 very faint and incomplete one.
Everyone turned there eyes to the dean and waited with baited breath to find out why it was possible for a person to have affinities for 2 contradictory elements he smiled and shook his head and said " it will all be explained in your first class ill leave all the exciting bits to your teachers " . He then turned and signalled for the next one to come up and it continued. It was then time for Adrielle Vulcan. She turned and looked at simon and gave him a shakey smile. He smiled at her hoping to give her some courage. She slowly walked up to the stage and put her hand on the golden orb first it wasn't even 15 seconds after that that 12 halo's surrounded her. The entire hall fell silence and the dean broke the silence with a booming laugh and said "congratulations young miss Vulcan i seem to remember someone by that name that left not to long ago is he some how related to you? ". She turned to the dean and said " yes he is my elder brother he is the pride and joy of my family". The last part of what she said sounded bitter and disappointed it seemed like only simon noticed but he knew it was because he was an empathic person so he can notice the slightest changes in emotions that people have.
she then continued to place her hands on the orbs and all but the purple orb gave incomplete halo's when she placed her hands on the purple orb it took a full 5 minutes for it to light up and yet again everyone was left stunned silent at her earth shattering affinites the dean then looked at her with intrest and signalled for the next person to come up. The next person to come up was a beautiful girl she was thick and seemed to be around 5ft 4 in height she had beautiful white hair and a beautiful olive skin tone and the name which was called out was samantha devega she walked up and placed her hand on the blue orb first and it gave a almost none existant halo she then moved to the next one it continued to give incomplete halo's until she came to the black orb almost instantaneously 10 black halo's surrounded her head. She smiled and continued without caring about the reactions of the teachers or students. When she arrived by the red orb it again lit up instantly and 9 halo's surrounded her head. The dean muttered lightly "...interesting..."
