Chereads / Tainted Vengeance: World Eaters / Chapter 37 - Nothing to say

Chapter 37 - Nothing to say

The fluffy white thing hopped on the ground, getting closer to the city covered in fog with each passing minute.

It had been traveling.

Traveling for a while now.

To find that wretched being who destroyed its house!

It's lovely home!

And on its way, it had encountered comrades!

One blue frog, "Rib RIb!" Looking for the sacred fish of the Nire.

And one baby black serpent. "Shish shish!" Looking for her father.

"Spee!" Together the three were on a journey across the world- searching for the destroyer and various other things.

"I heard there was a wild boar here-" Some voices. Some voices in the distance.

"Sque- sque- spee!"

The white blob ordered and all three disappeared into the grass.

They waited-

Waited for those giants to leave-

And once they were gone-

"Sqee!"

They again resumed their journey forward.

It was going to be tough- real tough, but just because something was tough, didn't mean they were going to give up, no!

The white fluff was going to find the destroyer- then find the nire and its damn fish and then the serpent's father!

Flint woke up.

Feeling wonderful.

He wiped his body, got dressed, ate a mild breakfast and was about to head out.

"Well, you sure are in a good mood…." Erveine said, coming to see him off.

He grinned. "Today's the day!"

"Of what?"

"I'm gonna hunt the rest of the trolls and-" He just couldn't stop smiling.

Sigh. "You and your trolls…" She rolled her eyes. "Do come back in one piece." At this point she'd more or less given up.

But she had to agree-

In this past week-

The boy, did mature a bit… even if it was for the sake of just exacting revenge.

He was maturing. He was improving.

And she wasn't sure if it was going to nearly enough.

However-

She prayed for him.

With all her heart.

Surely-

Surely-

The gods would take pity, right?

***

Flint reached the guild; Amanda was already there.

"Good morning!"

"Morning. I'd assume you're ready?" she said.

"Perfect!"

"Good-" She locked arms with him- and together they warped in the fields surrounding the city-

The grass danced with the wind-

A soft breeze and that amazing smell…

A new day.

And… goblins!

Teeth showing- "Let's finish this today!"

***

After killing nearly twenty goblins, impaling six to honey trap the trolls- the two just sat down near a tree…

"You remind me of a person," Amanda said.

Blatantly, out of nowhere, she produced a basket full of sandwiches.

"Really?" Flint dug in.

"Yes."

"Tha's aa god thang or bad?" Mouth full of food- it was hard for him to speak. Didn't stop him from doing either though.

"Good…"

Done chomping, he drank some water, sighed in relief. "I guess, I'm glad?"

A chuckle. "Your guests aren't coming today. Did we perhaps exterminate their kind?"

"I doubt that. They breed fast and in great numbers. Besides, there were supposed to be at least a few hundred of them, remember?"

"But oddly we can't even find ten."

"Yes, odd…"

"Do you think monsters have intelligence?"

"Hmm… I think they do, yes. Some even mimic our words. Whether they understand the word's meanings or not, that I don't know."

"And yet, you still kill them."

"I mean, it's kill or be killed-"

"Is it? You're killing them for your personal reasons while they're just searching for food-"

"What are you trying to get at?" He stared at her eyes-

She wasn't joking.

"Nothing. Just wondering."

And yet-

Flint-

Kind of just-

Yeah, now that he thought about it.

He was rarely ambushed by trolls.

He was the one ambushing them.

He was the one-

Attacking and killing… them.

Amanda yawned, lying down on the grass- using her robe as a makeshift bed. "Don't worry about it. As I said, was just wondering. Actually, I asked the same to that guy I mentioned." She chuckled. "He had the exact same reaction."

With a sigh, Flint also lied down. "I feel so weird, I honestly feel like meeting and asking that person…"

If that person had lived much longer than Flint, surely the guy had an answer, right?

Amanda remained quiet for a second… "Me too but he's long dead now…"

Flint opened his mouth- almost ready to say something…. But- "I'm sorry for your loss…"

"Likewise… my lil Fil…" She patted his head-

And though confused, Flint didn't say anything.

There was nothing to say.

[[A/N]]

We've been offered a contract!!!

After so damn long!

And just the day after I published two new novels too... :)

Do you think this book can become great? How? No, I'm not asking you to give me plot ideas. I'm asking if you think this book has the potential. I'm asking whether you think this book is good enough to... yeah- I don't really know what I'm talking about anymore. Ignore this bit....

Life's weird man. One moment you desperately want something but you don't get it and then the next moment you do get it but you no longer want it...

Anyway, I changed the cover and name... Dunno how much that would affect this book's future.

As always, thanks for reading and have a nice day.
