Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Aftermath

The situation at that time was still not in favour of anyone even though the number of defending troops was less than the number of opposing troops. What exactly were they defending from the city of Chern? Haven't the villagers already fled to the Wachia Kingdom? Then why? That's probably what people were wondering. The darkness of the night had replaced the sunlight, and people's vision began to diminish. The darkness of the night also made it difficult for the two armies to see each other, however, the flames of torches deterred this from a distance.

The battle was still not in favour of either side and the number of casualties continued to grow. This caused the morale of both sides to drop and the rain that began to fall exacerbated the conditions on the ground. One of the soldiers from the defeated regiment managed to meet up with Duke Watabou's main force and reported his regiment's defeat. Realising that the northern part of the city was unguarded by the enemy, Duke Watabou immediately ordered a platoon of his fast-moving troops to attack the opponent's weak area and head towards the opponent's palace. Meanwhile, he also diverted his two large armies to surround the enemy's palace through the suburbs. The rest of the troops would be used to continue pounding the enemy to overwhelm them and prevent them from helping their troops in the palace. Meanwhile, General Reuben himself ordered his troops to continue defending the opposing forces around the Old District and Rathall District.

For about half an hour, the defence troops successfully defended the enemy's attack. Suddenly, one of the enemy platoons broke through the defence line near the town square. This caused the defence forces in the Rain Chapel District to be separated and surrounded by enemy troops who would certainly take advantage of this opportunity to destroy them. Along with the siege, the main army of the Kingdom of Asfelia had also attacked and stormed the entrance to Chern's city palace. One of the soldiers immediately informed General Reuben who was at the front line.

"General! The enemy forces have destroyed the defence forces in the Rain Chapel District!"

"What?! Pull them back immediately!! We can't afford to lose any more troops!!!"

"Yes General!!!"

"General!! Enemy troops have invaded the palace!!!"

"What?! How can that be?!"

"General! The enemy troops broke through the defence line in the town square!"

"Damn it!! Captain! Lead the troops to surround the troops attacking the capital!"

"Yes General!!!"

The quick response by the defence forces was able to slow down the attack on the city palace. However, the enemy troops were already on the other side of the Palace District which caused the city palace to be attacked from another direction with greater force. This battle ended at night with a complete victory on the side of the Kingdom of Asfelia, they also held back most of the Kolomih Republic troops who were already besieged at the time. Although the war lasted a long time, it felt very fast due to the darkness of the night and sharp tactics by both sides that caused both sides to respond to each other constantly. The darkness of the night also covered the corpses of the soldiers who fought. Chern City became a silent witness to the deaths of troops from both sides and the struggles they endured.

The fall of Chern City at the hands of the Kingdom of Asfelia spread quickly the next morning. Many blamed the Kolomih Republic for allowing their troops to be defeated by the Asfelia Kingdom's troops. Some accused the Wachia Kingdom of not providing any help to its vassal states. However, the Wachia Kingdom responded to these accusations by taking control of more enemy territory and sending their troops into the Kolomih Kingdom's territory to ensure their safety. The Wachia King also blamed the bloodthirsty Asfelia Kingdom for attacking the Kolomih Republic. A few days later, the Wachia Kingdom's troops had pushed forward to capture more enemy territory and were preparing to take on the main opposing army. But they are currently in a stagnant state before the big battle.

Meanwhile, at the Wachia National Library, Otto was busy researching the history and culture of the Buviland Continent itself. He was originally going to be accompanied by one of the chiefs, but he decided to travel alone. There, he found more information about the Buviland continent.

Based on history, the Buviland continent itself has countless histories. One of them is the history that changed the shape of the continent to become like this. 100 years ago, to the west of the Buviland continent, there was a continent ruled by the Demon King. This continent used to have magic and fantasy monsters such as dragons, minotaurs, lizardmen, and so on. They lived until the Demon King called for war on all races in the eastern continent (Buviland). A great war broke out, the Demon King's army moved by land and sea and invaded the human races, mountain dwarves, elves, dark elves, and beastmen in the eastern continent. When humanity had lost hope, thousands of adventurers decided to cross the sea to the west to attack the Demon King who was most likely alone without his army. Meanwhile, troops from the unified kingdoms and adventurers held back the Demon King's invasion force.

During the journey at sea, they had to face multiple attacks by the Demon King's sea troops who tried to chase them. However, all the attacks were in vain as thousands of adventurers had landed and attacked the Demon King. The battle between the two sides was so intense that the land on the western continent was constantly changing shape as both sides attacked. The Demon King was defeated with a final blow to his head after thousands of adventurers died at his hands. The Demon King was defeated and the destruction of his body caused his entire army to disappear and the western continent itself to sink into the deep ocean.

In the aftermath of the war, the remaining races of humans, elves, dark elves, and beastmen worked together to restore things to their pre-war state. The existence of magic itself had diminished significantly along with the defeat of the Demon King, but not the monsters and dungeons created by the Demon King across the continent. They did not disappear because they had a mana core that was able to maintain their existence. Many advanced technologies and civilisations had become ruins which caused the eastern continent to regress in terms of technology. 100 years later, slowly but surely Buviland Continent has experienced significant development.

Having read history, Otto then read a book of knowledge about magic. Magic itself is divided into Beginner Magic, Advanced Magic, Expert Magic, Master Magic, and Forgotten Magic. Meanwhile, the adventurer and dungeon levels are divided into S, A, B, C, D, and E. This classification is made the same to make it easier for many people to understand. Then, he tried to look at the calendar system and culture on the Buviland continent.

The calendar system here is quite similar to that used by Indonesia, except that there are a few changes. For days starting from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The months start from Jan'ar, Febr, Mar'a, April, May, Jun'e, Jul'e, August, September, Octo'br, November, and Decem'br. Keep in mind that there are 28 days in a month and this applies to all 12 months. While the year is 150 TB (Buviland Year) or 150 BY (Buviland Year). More surprisingly, the culture here is very similar to that of the Age of Exploration on Earth.

Without realising it, it was getting dark outside which made Otto end his activities that day.

When he arrived at the royal palace, it turned out that there had been a theft of a special diamond belonging to the kingdom. All the guards and knights of the kingdom were mobilised to find the whereabouts of the thief. The royal servants were also busy calming the situation of the guests who were resting in the royal palace. Before long, the thief along with the royal diamond was secured. The thief was a beastmen sent by one of the nobles in the Kingdom of Wachia whose own motives could not be known. They were shocked and in an outrage, but quickly moved to arrest the suspected nobleman and his network.

The next day, things were back to normal. The suspected nobleman had confessed his actions and was given his punishment. This nobleman had been threatened by one of the nobles of the Kingdom of Asfelia by using an insider to be able to do this. Knowing this, King Wachia decided to behead the nobleman and his network, but not his family members. They were only stripped of their noble status and assigned to a remote area of the Kingdom. The King also organised a massive investigation into all the nobles of the Kingdom of Wachia.

A few days later the royal guests were ready to return to their territories except for the Indonesian envoys. Laksdya Otto's room was visited by a royal servant who informed him that the King wanted to see him. In the King's hall, Prime Minister Bauchis said something surprising.

"According to the King's decree, starting Monday, 8 May 150 TB. Amacsa Territory will be fully under the control of the envoys of Indonesia. Therefore, the process of taking over the territory will take place over the next two weeks or so and will be led by Admiral Pierot."

"Representatives of the State of Indonesia, please come forward to receive the official Royal letter."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"
