Chapter 17 - Preparation

''

"What the fuck was that?", Archehon widened his eyes from what he witnessed.

"Hoooo.."

''

' Level 2>'

"Hm.. I'm still wondering what on earth that memory was. The woman who talked about revenge was the Blood Demon and I'm confused. How am I supposed to carry out their revenge? I don't even know who they are."

"Haaa.. nevermind. I'll worry about that later."

"System, show the description of the Blood Demon's heart necklace."

'

Description: The great Blood Demon vanquished its opponents by absorbing its foes blood to rain over the demons. Humans unfortunately used foul means in the past to kill it over 2000 years ago.

Ability: [Blood Absorption lvl. 2] [??? lvl. ?]

[?? lvl. ?]. >'

"Can you show me a description of the Blood Absorption skill?"

''

"That sucks. It's a pity I can only absorb such a low amount of blood. Though, this will change after a long time."

"I doubt it's a coincidence that when the memory played, the Blood Absorption skill leveled up too, around the time I unlocked my Divine power. In that case, even though it's too early to decide, I'll conclude that the skills will level up when I get stronger which will trigger another memory."

"Maybe with Divine power I can trigger more memories?"

"No, it's still too early to decide.", he pushed away the thought.

All of a sudden, the ruby necklace shone and moved around restlessly. It almost choked Archehon from the way it moved.

"Kuuuck, why is it acting like this??"

The necklace travelled away, forcing Archehon to follow it. First, the door which he had to open. Second, downstairs which he ran down to not hit his head. Last, the living room which he again, was forced to open the entrance.

Ariel sat watching the news and turned to look at the door that was opened.

"Hm?", Ariel looked unaware.

"Oh- Archehon. Why are you here? Aren't you usually training at this time?"

"U-uh, well. I just thought I'd get some fresh air, haha..", Archehon shrugged the question off while holding the necklace and flinching randomly.

"Shouldn't you go outside? It's not good for your health to be inside all the time.", Ariel lectured him.

"Hahaha.. no I've already gone outside."

"Oh, okay."

The news was played on the TV with the report.

"Good evening everyone, I am the reporter Lora Zon and I will be reporting on the recent amounts of Beasts that have left their habitat and broken into civilian areas."

"The beasts that have broken in are Rank 3 Trolls. It is suspected by the heroes that these creatures were lured into these areas by Villains. The trolls were killed and the heroes are investigating the incident which luckily, ended up with no casualties."

"That's scary. Archehon be careful when you go into the academy. You might need to fight monsters by chance since you can't trust the law sometimes.", Ariel told him.

"I get it, haha."

"Ah, I almost forgot..", Archehon snatched off the necklace and gave it to Ariel.

".. This is a gift for you."

"Wow! It's so lovely looking. Where did you find this?", her eyes beamed with excitement.

"I found it by chance in a pile of manuals in a store."

"You must be so lucky to find this but.."

"But?"

"Are you sure you don't need this? It looks like an artifact."

"Oh, um.. no. Don't worry about that. It's not an artifact. It's just a normal necklace."

"Okay.", she placed the necklace around her neck.

The girl felt energy flow into her body and felt rejuvenated.

"Woah. Is this really not an artifact?"

"No. I'll continue training."

"Okay, don't be too harsh.", Ariel glistered.

Click-

When Archehon exited the living room to the hallway, he immediately thought of one thing,

'Is there some sort of connection between the Blood Demon and Ariel? Since it did end up almost choking me just to go to Ariel.."'

"No, I'm overthinking things. I shouldn't worry about needless things like these."

Another day passed...

"Well, as important as training is. I need to go check on Vulcan and Jerry. Both have something useful. In Jerry's place, I can look for more advanced spearmanship arts.", Archehon noted.

"And- Oh, I almost forgot. I still have the shop that I unlocked.", Archehon told himself.

"System, open the shop window."

The couple of words triggered the darker-blue screen to appear, with many other tabs.

'Shop

- Artifacts- Weapons- Armor- Buy&Sell- Clothes- Roulette-

Please choose a column out of the six to go further. '

"Hm.. I've only viewed this once despite having unlocked it a while ago."

"The last time I used this, I viewed all the columns and I definitely say that- Buy&Sell is the best and Roulette is the worst, in my opinion."

"Although, I may need the rest in the short-term."

Archehon pressed the Buy&Sell column.

''

"The Buy section."

'Items - UP: 1000

Price: 1 trillion UP. Seller: Hephaestus.

Price: 900 Billion UP. Seller: Mycenaen king Eurystheus.

...< ... >. '

"Almost every single weapon here is either up for auction or can be bought."

'And, I figured out that the currency in all of the shop is [Universal Points]. Not just that, all the items are being bought or sold by transcendal beings who have surpassed every being on their planet and have ascended to the universe.'

"It's obvious I can't buy most of these. But.."

".. I can buy the cheapest items that are worth it.'

Archehon scrolled through the thousands of expensive items that would take him years to get.

"Here, it is.", he grinned.

'Items

Stock: 50. Price: 15 UP (each). Seller: Merlin.

Stock: 5. Price: 50 UP (each). Seller: Giant (unknown). '

"I'll buy all of the Mana and Strength Elixirs."

''

Another blue screen- the inventory- appeared, showing in one of the boxes, the fifty Mana and five strength Elixirs.

''

"I'm broke.", Archehon sighed.

"System, How can I earn more UP?"

'

(1) Selling items on the Sell Shop

(2) Raising their average stats which will bring in more UP. Example: All the hosts stats are at least 20. >'

"Anymore?"

''

"Nevermind, that's not useful to me at all, even if I put all my stat points into luck."

'I guess the only choice is to get stronger and to hopefully get a useful item to sell.'

"Time to go back to training.", Archehon stretched out his arms.

Some place in outer space...

A gigantic castle stood tall on top, in the middle of the strokes of mountains. In the castle, was an old man with a beard and hat. Who looked like a wizard and sat on a throne showing his authority. The beard grew below his chin, long. Wide. Nevertheless, age didn't matter to the man.

"Oh great Merlin. I thank you for the gracious deeds you have done to help the people of the Saucier Kingdom.", a man wearing a cloak and royal clothes bowed down.

"It's part of my duty. How can I not help the innocent civilians?"

"You're too humble, great Merlin."

"I'm sorry, but I must leave to partake in my other duties as a prince.", the blonde haired prince displayed a regretful expression.

"Haha, it's okay. I understand your duties. You can leave now."

"Thank you very much, I shall leave now."

The blonde haired prince left the big hall and Merlin changed the look on his face.

"Haaa.. so boring. I've reached the pinnacle of magic in this world, the 8th circle and nobody is at the point where they can challenge me.", he rested his elbow on the throne, emitting the fact that he didn't care about anything.

"I can even ascend if I want to. What am I supposed to do-"

'[All 50 Normal Mana Elixirs have been bought]'

(AN: Know that he only has access to the shop and NOT the rest of the System.)

"Hm?"

"Someone really bought all of those cheap potions. They may increase your mana permanently but that only carries on when you drink thirty of them. But I still find it hard to believe that someone would even buy all of them."

"Who's the buyer?", Merlin clicked on the screen.

'[Buyer: Archehon]'

"Archehon? I've never heard of them before. This is interesting. A random being who I've never heard of buys a useless item."

"Though, it might just be some crazy transcendal under another name."

Another two weeks passed...

Thrust-

He finished hist last thrust before looking at his status window.

"Hoo.."

"I'm finally ready."

'System

'I have drank fifteen mana potions, practiced mana cultivation and in the spear, as well as the dagger over the course of these two weeks.'

'My stats are all at least twenty and I unlocked a day ago, fifty Universal Points.'

"I guess I'm ready now."

"Should I.. get going now.", Archehon grinned.

* * *

"Here it is.."

A large crowd of people walked around, many from different backgrounds. It was obvious why they were gathered. The large sign in front of the gate to the perimeter, 'Aequalis Academy'.

".. The hero academy", Archehon stood with his hands on his hips, in front of the gate behind the line of people for the entrance exam.

"What happened to you this past month? Have you lost your mind?", Xavier gasped in pity for him, placing his hands on his mouth.

"Oh? Then are you sure you got it on properly? Don't want to expose your pretty face, yeah.", Archehon replied with another tease.

(AN: He's referring to his face mask that he's wearing to hide his identity.)

"Y-you bastard."

"Hmph!", he pushed Archehon softly.

But the contrary happened.

"Thump!"

Archehon instead fell to the ground, like a bunny.

"Ow. That hurt Robert."

"Huh?", Xavier looked surprised.

"Hey!"

A guy ran up to the scene. He looked a little older than two and had blue hair with eyes that wouldn't tolerate injustice.

"I saw what just happened here.", he gazed at Xavier while helping Archehon up.

"Are you okay?", he looked at Archehon.

"Y-yes, but I don't know about Robert.", Archehon acted gullible.

"Please don't punish him. I know he pushed me but it's fine.", he grabbed the older blue haired boys trousers, desperately while on his knees again.

"N-no, I won't. Don't worry. I have to do some more tasks so I have to go, sorry."

The older boy walked and before moving away, he made a gesture.

"You shouldn't be preying on people weaker than yourself.", he shook his head, disappointed, before leaving.

Pffft-

Archehon hid his laugh while Xavier was dead silent, with a murderous gaze at him.

"You piece of shit.", Xavier tensed his face.

"Oh no. Don't hit me again, I'm sorry.", Archehon acted again.

Many other people in the line again, looked at the scene and also shook their heads, disappointed which forced him to act normal.

"Dammit.", Xavier muttered.

"Next!", a voice called the two forward.

Both moved forward, near the front of the queue to where a group of kids, the same age stood.

Ready to take the entrance exam.
