The lumberjack and his two associates headed back to the military camp in Okunde's garden as the first sun rays of the new day shone stronger.

"Here you are safer!" said Babida to the young maiden Suzie and uncle Bibi.

"Last night was hectic and we didn't rest. Let's find a quiet spot and have some sleep!" The woodsman suggested.

"Under this palm tree would be perfect." expressed uncle Bibi while showing the direction of the shelter with the index finger of his right hand.

They marched toward the palmea and stopped under its refreshing green branches.

Suzie, who was already half asleep, removed her brown sandals, hastened to the soft lawn, and immediately snoozed.

Babida laid his axe beside the palm tree, then sat upright on the grass and leaned on the trunk before shutting his exhausted eyes.

As for uncle Bibi, he contemplated for a short moment the singing birds on top of the branches and felt appeased by their morning melodies.
