Chapter 7 - Self doubt

Chapter six

"Finally ! It's happening . " Vin shouted excitedly .

The seven star glowed brightly creating a perfect alignment as predicted by the prophecy .

He gasped , breathe deluded him , but happiness and hope washed over him .

"What's happening ?? . " Master Liam asked as he approached Vin , who was on his knee still gaping at the new future that was opening up right in front of him .

He gulped , and pointed towards the stars that glowed brightly, outshining the others .

A few other mentors also came out to see what the cause of commotion was . Master Victor stilled and his eyes which seldomly opens whenever he's about to see a vision, flew up and shone grey .

Master Victor just stood rooted to the spot and everyone gave him the space and silence for him to complete his vision .

The air stilled , and everyone held their breath . A vision??

Vin scratched his head , it wasn't uncommon for a vision but something about this particular one feels off .

Master Victor's eyes closed and resumed back to their normal position .

Vin swallowed hard , and he could hear the irregular beats of his nervous heart .

One way or the other , he knew something about this vision isn't pleasant .

Everyone waited for master Victor to reveal his vision , so that they'll decided on the next step .

Slowly but determined and agile , master Victor approached Vin , adding more to the building apprehension in the depth of his stomach .

He placed his long bony fingers on vin's shoulder and all air left his lungs .

"I see doom , impending doom . Much more greater than the one we've ever known before . But at the right side, I see hope and future . But it's a very long and tough journey to get to the right places . "

He finished his speech and everyone made way for him . He left the gathering without as much as another words after the initial one .

Vin heart was heavy with fear and uncertainty. He was a good apprentice , no doubt have been learning earnestly whatever his master assigned to him . He has taken a great pleasure in knowing that he was going to become a mentor one day .

But this ??

He wasn't cut out for this . He wasn't made for this .

The negativity of the thought was seeping in on him gradually , and his initial bravado had diminished into nothingness , leaving a tsunami of emotion that's mostly doubt .

He gazed at the sky one more time , taking in the silver lining of the dark clouds . The moon had risen , and was majestically sitting atop a fluffy cloud chair . Spreading it's silvery rays to cloak the world .

The stars enclosed it and together created a mystically bright night .

The stars were still there , following the exact pattern from the constellation and corresponding directly with the prophecy .

The crowds had dispersed, a little one after the other . Each mentor with different thought in their head , happiness for the new born future and mixture of doubt and fear for the process involving it .

Would it be possible?? Will the prophecy ever come into fruition ?

Vin was sure that this were one of the many questions that was inside their head but which they dare not voice out .

The place grew more silent than usual , leaving Vin to himself and the swashed up thought that were roaming inside his head .

He heard an approaching footsteps, and he stood up . Startled out of his wits

"Master Vin . " The soft velvety voice floated to his ears that petals being blown by the summer breeze .

His palm broke out in cold sweat and he rubbed them together .

Maree walked towards him , with her usual gracefulness and elegant .

The moon shone upon her face and her crystal blue eyes looked Divine and unreal. Throwing Vin into a momentary trance .

"That was very brave of you . I never knew you were type that put their national interest first . The type that put selfless interest before anything . Indeed you're a patriotic citizen . Your patriotism as well as bravery is something that I find quite attractive and distinguish . " She sat down beside him and smile ..

That dazzling smile that could as well rival the sun .

Vin's head swole up and he was happy . At least someone recognized his effort and appreciates it .

Someone special .

That alone acted that an enzyme , like a booster and the negativity in his thought decreased considerably.

The more the believe in him , the more he'll believe in himself.

"Years ago , before I became a mentor . I've always found myself wondering and asking questions . Why are we not living in Catyra? Why are we living in the shadow ? Away from the others ! "

"Those are the questions that I found myself constantly asking . But then , I came to realize that we dreamchasers are making sacrifice . We're sacrificing , for the future . To make the future better . " She spoke honestly and Vin watched as her chest heaved up and down after the long speech .

"Do you think all this is possible?? . " The question flew out of his mouth before he could think.

"What ? The prophecy? Of course I think it's possible. The council members did not sacrifice their lives on something that won't work . I know what you're thinking . That confronting the Lord ruler is not possible? Talkless of meeting him . ? Right? These are the thoughts in your head ?? "

"Sometimes all we have to do is believe ! . When everything seems so confused and foolish , you have to believe . And I believe in you . " She stood up and waved at him .

He watched her receding back and her words kept echoing in his head

"Believe . ! "
