The driver drove into the mansion and parked in front of the main door. He got out, opened the door and they all got out.
"Kehlani, are you sure you don't want to have lunch with us?" Lupita inquired.
"Thank you ma but I must decline your offer. My mom has been blowing up my phone with calls and texts ever since she got a call from the chancellor."
"Send my regards to Lucy, tell her everything has been settled and she has nothing to worry about. You know how your mum can be, worrying over small things." Lupita laughed.
"Okay then." Lupita turned towards the driver. "Make sure she gets home safely."
"Yes ma" he replied.
"Okay then I'll leave you two to say your goodbyes," Said Lupita before she entered the house.
"Kehlani, make sure you give me a call when you get home." Aida hugged her.
"Do not forget to ask your mum about what happened," Kehlani whispered as she let go of her.
"Don't worry I will."
"I'll be on my way now before my mum sends the army to come to look for me." Kehlani laughed and got into the car. The driver started the car and they drove out of the house.
Aida headed straight to her room, she felt extremely weak. Climbing the stairs was a struggle as she dragged her bag on the floor. Aida shut the door behind her and dropped her bag on the floor and sank into the bed. She reached into her pocket for her phone. Aida scrolled through her chats as her phone kept buzzing repeatedly.
'The class group chat must be filled with gossip about what happened in cl..ass." She placed her hand over her mouth as she yawned.
Several times her head dropped low as if it would fall off. She placed her hand over her mouth again as she yawned.
Her eyelids became heavy and she accidentally dropped her phone as she began to doze off. The sounds of her phone buzzing became faint and distant as she fell asleep.
"Where am I?" Aida looked around as she stood above the stairs that led down into pitch darkness. The entrance was brightly illuminated by two burning torches. Aida looked around, there was no one. She picked up one of the torches and proceeded to walk down the stairs.
"What is this place? Why does it smell so bad? She held her nose with her hand as the stench got worse with each descent. She felt the urge to throw up. Aida came to the bottom of the stairs and shone the torch around, It was a dungeon. The prison cells were filled with bones and skulls. The walls were stained with blood.
Aida heard faint sounds, it seemed to be coming from the other end. Curiosity got the better of her and she decided to have a look. She began to go in that direction.
Aida held the torch in that direction and she gasped when she saw a woman who was bounded with chains. Her face was hidden by her snowy-white hair.
"Aida." The woman called out with the little strength she had. Aida was taken aback, how did this mysterious woman know her name?
"How do you know my name?"
"Aida, Danva needs their chosen one. You are the key. You are the only one who can save us, the fate of the world is in your hands."
"I don't understand what you are trying to say to me. What key are you talking about? What do you mean? What am I supposed to save the world from?
"Aida, leave this place now. Run, he is coming for you. Run! Run!" The woman cried out as she kept pointing in a direction. Aida turned, and she saw a man in a cloak standing by the stairs with a sword in his hand. He was coming towards her. Aida dropped the torch and began to run into the darkness without any knowledge of where she was headed to. The man was extremely fast and was catching up to her.
Aida's foot struck something causing her to lose her balance and she fell face first on the cold floor. The man was standing above her with the sword raised in the air.
"No!!!!" She screamed as she woke up. Aida lifted her shirt, and she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that there was no sign that she had been stabbed. Her forehead was beaded with perspiration as she looked around the room.
"Miss Aida, are you alright?" A maid ran into the room. She was passing by Aida's room and she heard her scream.
"Y.... yes I'm fine."
"You must have had a nightmare. You kept screaming so I came to check up on you."
"Did anyone come into my room while I was asleep? Aida got up from the bed. She looked around but no one was there.
"No." The maid responded. "Dinner is ready, your mom wants you at the table now since you slept all through the day and didn't have lunch."
"I'll come downstairs in a few minutes."
"Okay." The maid left the room.
Aida checked the room one more time, but there was no one. She ran her hands through her hair as she wiped off the sweat on her forehead. Never in her life had she had such a nightmare that sent shivers down her spine. Who was that woman? What key is she talking about? Why was that man trying to kill me? Many questions ran through her head simultaneously.
