Chapter 3 - Souvenir

The Blood Angels were then sent by the king to capture a nearby village seized by Niflheim days after knighting them.

"Why are we doing this, Abaddon? Wasn't there a truce between these two?" Killian asked his best friend.

"This is the opportune time to strike, Killian. Their guards are down fully expecting us to comply with that truce," Abaddon replied as he cut down a foot soldier with his longsword.

Killian grit his teeth at his response. "It does not seem so fair, doesn't it?"

"All that matters are the results, Killian. As long as we fulfill the king's wishes, this is all justified."

Killian watched from the back as his friend was hacking down lowly foot soldiers.

"I guess Lordship changes people, huh?" he said to himself.

After the inevitable triumph, there was an old lady running towards Abaddon. She looked like a native of the village.

Killian's eyes widened as he slammed her on the ground, fearing that she might be an assassin.

"P-Please. Let me approach him," she pointed at Abaddon Chrysos.

"Why?" Killian asked with a skeptical gaze.

Before she could respond, Abaddon noticed what was going on and asked Killian to let go of her.

"It is fine, Killian," he said. "What is it that you want?" Abaddon asked.

"This is for you, my lord," she tossed an amulet made of gold at him.

Abaddon stared at the amulet at first. "Why?"

"Nobody deserves to be covered in Gold more than you, my king."

"King?" Abaddon was confused at first but just choked it up to the woman being senile.

She limped away, dusting off her sullied clothes and laughing maniacally in the process.

"A golden necklace, huh? I wonder how a villager like her managed to get something like that, and why she gave that to you," Killian said in a puzzled expression.

"I have always liked golden things," Abaddon uttered as he examined the souvenir tossed to him.

"Yeah, I figured. It is going to get easier for you to have things made out of gold now that you're a Lord," Killian joked.

But with all the luxury and ease that being noble knights brought, it seemed Killian and Abaddon were never truly satisfied.

After almost a year, the name 'Blood Angels' became synonymous with that of the bringers of death.

Donning their gold-plated, blood colored armor, they took pride in being led by Lord Abaddon.

The Empire of Niflheim was losing the war and they were losing it quick.

With Abaddon's leadership and the might of Killian Creed, the Blood Angel's notoriety grew more and more.

Several Counts and Dukes of the kingdom got jealous as well, mainly of Abaddon Chrysos' growing popularity among the masses.

The two of them could not even have a peaceful walk outside of the castle due to their renown.

"You are even more popular than the Dukes now, watch your back, Abaddon, I do not like those pretentious royal buffoons," Killian scoffed as he said so.

"I do not mind them. After all, it must be such an insult for a commoner-turned-Lord like I to have done more than them," Abaddon confidently said.
