Chapter 11 - Not anyone in sight

Without wasting any time, Dove left the cafeteria. As she came out, she began gasping for breath. She couldn't understand what was wrong with her. Why was there a sudden anxiety in her heart? Why was she having this sudden urge to cry her heart out?

Away from everyone's gaze, there was a small garden outside the cafeteria and in one corner, she was sitting on the ground, trying to calm down her raging emotions. This anxiety of uncertainty was killing her. All she wanted to know was why she was feeling the way she was.

After what seemed like an hour, she stood up to leave for her dormitory. She was not feeling good but it was better than before. She had her phone with her and Aisha messaged her saying that she and Scarlett were going to the healthcare centre to get her something to help with nausea. Those two girls, whom she only met today, were extremely nice to her.

She found a bench in the garden and sat there. Under the moonlit sky, she was relaxing there. To ease the tension, she opened her hair and it cascaded down her waist like a waterfall and she shook her head to untangle those long locks.

Her petal-like eyes opened to look up at the full moon in the sky and her onyx-coloured orbs shone dazzlingly under it. Her hair was just as black as those orbs and when she blinked those large eyelashes fanned beautifully. The contrast of her rosy fair skin tone against her dark hair was stunning.  She stood different here from everyone even with so common features.

While she was sitting on the bench, staring at the moon, someone was staring at her moon-like face and she had no idea about it. A while later when she looked in that direction, she found that there was another bench in the dark and far end of the garden but she couldn't see anyone there.

On the other hand, Andrew left the building. His house is not far from the university but now the thought of living in that big house without his Birdie in it was disturbing for him. He was thinking of applying for staff resident on the campus. This way, he could meet his daughter more often and they could have at least a meal together each evening.

He had asked his daughter about her whereabouts and she told him she was still in the cafeteria area. He was also headed the same way but he seemed to be waiting for someone.

"Sorry, professor, I got a little late. I met the Captain on the way, "His student said.

Andrew nodded. "Thank you for offering your help." He found another tall boy standing next to his student. The boy greeted him and he nodded his head. "You are the captain of the basketball team?"

"Yes, professor Harrison, "The boy nodded his head. He was really tall and dominating. One could easily see the 'do not approach me' written on him.

"Which department?" Andrew asked.

"Second year, Law, professor Harrison, " The boy replied.

"Great game, guys. Keep working hard, " Andrew said while taking the package. "I will see you again. I have to pass this to someone."

"Shall I pass this for you, Professor?" His student asked.

Andrew smiled and shook his head. "No, this is something I have to do. You can go to practice."

When he left, the second-year law student looked at his friend and asked, "What was in the package?"

"Captain, it was food, "The first one said. His name is Paul and he was Andrew's student. "I didn't know you were interested in Professor Harrison. Didn't you say law students have nothing to do with our political science department?"

"Our professor informed us that Professor Harrison is offering a Value added course related to constitutional laws but only he can choose his students. The seats in the class are limited. I want to be in his class, "The law student said.

"Captain, Professor Harrison doesn't like flattery and only someone who has talent can get in his eyes, " Paul said. "I don't think the course will be offered to the Law department as you have a similar syllabus in other courses too."

"I want in.  That's sit, " He said.

Paul sighed. "I will try to find a way."

After a while, Paul recalled something and said, "I was going to the dean's office when I heard the Dean saying that the Professor's daughter got admitted into our department. But we don't know who she is. We all are trying to find that new face in first-year's class. Do you know she is a country topper? Only geniuses have genius kids."

"So many geniuses entering this year, " Paul muttered after a while.  "Let's not forget that freshman who gave trial for the basketball team. You have to agree he has talent both in academics and sports."

The law student hummed in reply but didn't say anything.
