Chapter 48 - Young Lord

"Ming though I wasn't thinking clearly at that time, I still wanted to give Brother Min that fruit so can you please drop this matter, please?" Little Qing said with puppy eyes;

"What happened to calling him young master?" Little Ming tilted her head to take a closer look at her twin before sternly warning her;

"Ji Min is very important to Lord Lao and we are also his maids, don't cause unnecessary troubles!"

---

The moment Ji Min arrived; he hurriedly entered and sat on the bed without even taking another glance at the room.

[Ahem; you were saying what again?] Ji Min asked mentally.

[I don't know if it's you or that little girl that simply possesses inhuman luck, or something is absolutely wrong with my definition of what rare and precious treasures.]

[But that fruit in your hand is called the Blood Dragon Heart, and it is indeed one of the seven treasures required to forge a primal twin.]

The Old Monk replied whilst Ji Min simply stared at the blood-red, heart-shaped fruit; he had no idea what the Old Monk had said meant.

[Don't worry, when it is time, you will naturally know the value of that fruit in your hand; my advice though, tell no one that you possess it.]

[As a matter of fact, it is better you tell the girls that you lost it or ate them or whatever. Just make them believe you no longer have it.]

The Old Monk warned and Ji Min could tell how serious he was about the situation just from the tone that echoed in his head.

[I believe your treatment would start tomorrow, and I believe it would really hurt; after all, purging venom out of each of the cells in one's body isn't something anyone can handle.] The Old Monk said as Daniel broke out in cold sweat.

[On a scale of twice thrice or ten folds, how bad is it compared to the Tranquil Venoms?] Ji Min hoped for the best response but also prepared for the worst.

[I can't tell specifically.]

[What do you mean you can't tell specifically?] Ji Min subconsciously blurted in frustration.

[Young lord, what I meant to say is that it varies from person to person. If everyone in existence dipped their hands into burning lava, they would definitely be varying results, no?]

The Old Monk changed his manner of approach since Ji Min has now been acknowledged as the Chosen One of Shangri La.

[I understand. I'm sorry for yelling at you.] Ji Min did the needful after realizing that he had disrespected the old monk.

He knew that the old monk was only with him and helping him because he was chosen by the legacy of his people; otherwise, he wouldn't even have the qualifications to stand in his presence, not to talk of speaking with him, and even worse, yelling at him.

[Actually, I don't think the reason you are being treated is just to cure you of the Tranquil Poisoning; after all, wouldn't that be a waste of resources considering you won't be able to cultivate anymore due to your melted meridians?]

The Old Monk revealed as Ji Min also began to think deeply about the situation.

[If I should take a guess, I think they're trying to create a new set of meridians for me.]

[You're right young lord, but meridians are something that we're all created with, but only appear when our body is strong enough to withstand the intrusion of the weakest level of Qi.] The Old Monk replied.

[Please tell me more.]

[As you wish, Young Lord.

Whilst obtaining meridians is done naturally and the level of meridian opis determined by fate, it doesn't mean one cannot influence the process artificially.

In your case; I believe you will be made to go through the Fearless Mortal Shedding path. Mind you this is extremely painful and has a low survival rate, but if successful, it can also be as rewarding as it is dangerous.]

Ji Min swallowed hard when the Old Monk reached this stage of his explanation; just the name of the meridian reawakening technique alone is enough to scare him shitless; who said he was fearless?

If the venoms could make him suffer so much pain to the extent that he got knocked out, and it was still called 'Tranquil'; then how was this method called 'Fearless' supposed to feel?

[Since Qi naturally responds to one's meridian paths, the Fearless Mortal Shedding Technique aims to peel off everything within your body that dulls your senses towards Qi.

Once that is achieved it will not only make your body extremely sensitive to Qi, but if you are lucky enough, you could even gain access to Divine Realm Qi, allowing you to open Divine Meridians.

To put it simply; the previous owner of your body only possessed Spirit Realm Meridians, and yet he was able to cultivate the paths of Body and Qi and obtain such significant prowess at such a young age; you confirmed this when you got hit by that beast's tail.]

Ji Min quickly interrupted when he heard the Old Monk's last statement;

[So, do you know just how strong that beast's attack is?]

[Let me just say Old Lao would have to take matters seriously if he was to take the same attack and react just as you did, otherwise, he would still be nursing some pain right now.]

The Old Monk replied, but Ji Min still couldn't gauge the correct strength, it was like he needed a physical object to test it out on; but sadly, he was within Old Lao's domain where precious things littered everyone's view.

[As I said, there is a demon beast forest encircling this domain; once you restart your cultivation you can test everything to your heart's content.]

[Oh, thanks. Will you mind taking charge of my training methods then?] Ji Min asked as the Old Monk went quiet, and just as he was about to call out to him, the old monk's voice responded;

[It will be my greatest honor to train the Progeny of Shangri La.] Ji Min could sense the emotions within the old monk's voice, causing him to feel good about his decision.

He had also been thinking of what his training was going to be like and which methods he would use; after all, he already knew that the training from his past life didn't mean sheet in here.

The pain tolerance training was a good reminder, and he didn't want to be on the receiving end of pain anymore.

Since the moment the Old Monk had passed all the information concerning the legacy of Shangri La, unto him; Ji Min knew that if the old monk called himself the second-best instructor on this planet, then no one in their right mind would dare call themselves the best.
