Chereads / The Eternal System / Chapter 4 - Ch 4: Moment Eternity

Chapter 4 - Ch 4: Moment Eternity

"What is Spendthrift function?" Aiden asked.

[You will know when you can become a Second-tier Star Warrior. The requirement to unlock the Spendthrift function is the cultivation base of Second-tier Star Warrior.]

"Ohh!"

Aiden nodded and then shifted his gaze to a particular attribute that piqued his curiosity the most.

"Moment Eternity?" Aiden muttered, and the next moment, another light screen appeared in front of him, giving him a detailed explanation for his ability.

[Moment Eternity: The user can stop time for 10 seconds. This ability is exclusive to an Eternal. Moment Eternity will evolve each time the Eternal Body evolves. The host can use Moment Eternity only once every month. Upon full evolution, the host will have the option to stop time forever at a single moment. In other words, a single moment can last for eternity. However, the prerequisite is to evolve Moment Eternity to its highest level.]

Aiden was shocked and joy like never before appeared on his face. This ability was too heaven-defying. He can actually stop time. Although he can stop time for ten seconds only, these ten seconds alone are enough to change the fate of a person.

Not to mention, if he could evolve this ability, at that time, to him, even a single moment could last for eternity.

What does it mean?

Let's say, someone close to him is ambushed and is on the verge of death. At that time, he could use the Moment Eternity and stop time completely to that moment and use that single moment to look for ways and save that closest person.

A single moment can change the fate of people.

Moment Eternity... it really is an extremely powerful ability.

Aiden was slightly dissatisfied with the fact that he could use this ability only once every month, but he knew he could not ask for more. If he can use the Moment Eternity as many times as he wants, it'll definitely break the balance of the world.

As for why such thoughts appeared in his mind, he had no idea. Looks like, after the integration of Eternal Body, he has also become smarter and can think things thoroughly.

He also realized that he was no longer purely human. He had become an Eternal. Though he was still far from becoming a true Eternal, this transformation had already begun.

Even though he didn't fully understand what an Eternal was, the fact that "Moment Eternity" was an exclusive ability of an Eternal was enough to indicate how unimaginably powerful an Eternal could be.

Moreover, from what the Eternal System had told him, there could only be one Eternal in the entire Universe. And the System had chosen him. This meant that he was possibly the next Eternal.

Another thing that sent a wave of happiness in his heart is the fact that he has already become a Third-tier Star Warrior Level 1.

It was no wonder he could feel his body becoming stronger than ever before. Aiden had never experienced this kind of vitality, but now, he felt as though he could run for hours without tiring.

It was important to remember that Aiden had been malnourished ever since his father abandoned him and his mother. Back then, he could barely walk for half an hour without feeling exhausted. But now, he felt as if he could run endlessly.

The difference was obvious.

Taking a deep breath, Aiden suppressed the excitement in his heart, looked around, and expressed his gratitude to the system.

"Thank you, system. You don't know how happy I am right now. With your help, I can finally walk on the path of strong. I believe I can also take revenge for my mother's death very soon. Thank you!"

[You are welcome, Host.]

[Host, always remember, this is the Land of Eternity, and it is also your final destination. As for what I meant by these words, you'll know in the future.]

"Final destination?" Aiden muttered these two words in his heart and noted them down, then looked at the Land of Eternal where there was nothing but an endless plane grass field.

[Host, please prepare to visit another dimension and start the first space traverse. Please note that you only have one year to live in another dimension, and upon your return, only one day will have passed. Even if you die in the other dimension, you'll not be harmed the slightest in reality.]

"What, so soon?"

Aiden was surprised. He didn't expect to get an opportunity to visit a different dimension so soon.

A small resplendent vortex, the size of about two meters appeared in front of Aiden. Aiden felt an extremely strong sucking force enveloping his body, sucking him inside the resplendent vortex before he could even resist.

.....

It was early spring, and the cold winter had just passed. The warm sunlight was shining down and the snow on the houses' rooftops in Fresh Breeze Town had slowly started to melt.

The Fresh Breeze Town was located at the border of the Light Wind Empire.

Around the Fresh Breeze Town, there were also tens of small and large villages. Although in the eyes of a Light Wind Empire, the Fresh Breeze Town was as small as a grain of rice and could be ignored, in the hearts of every villager, it was a "colossus".

Fresh Breeze Town covers dozens of miles. It is an extremely lively town, bustling with people.

In Fresh Breeze Town, there were three influential families. Various taverns, teahouses, and shops were under the control of the three Great Families, and they were all in charge of managing the entire Fresh Breeze Town.

The Olsson family was one of the three Great Families. Among these three great families, only the Olsson family had a forbidden land called the Valley of Death.

Actually, there is a rumor that Fresh Breeze Town used to be the land of a very big force in the past. However, something happened, and that force disappeared.

After thousands of years, Fresh Breeze Town was established.

The Valley of Death used to be a forbidden land of that force, however, after the establishment of Fresh Breeze Town, the Olsson Family took over this forbidden land with the intention of exploring it.

Unfortunately, even after thousands of years, the Valley of Death was unexplored.

It is not that no one went to venture inside. It is just that, no matter how many people the Olsson family sent inside the Valley of Death, none of them returned.

Generation after generation, the will of the Olsson Family to explore the Valley of Death started weakening, and for the past three generations, the Olsson Family truly considered the Valley of Death as a forbidden land that no one is allowed to go to.

In the depths of the Valley of Death, there was a small lake. Layers of cold air floated above the lake.

In the sky above the cold air, dense white fog was blocking the view of the sky.

Only a few naughty rays of moonlight passed through the thick white fog and landed on the surface of the lake.

Everything around them was dark.

At the edge of the lake, there was a wet youth lying on the sand, motionless.

The young man was dressed in linen robes and looked emaciated. At this moment, his face was pale and without any trace of blood. His eyes were closed, and there were still some droplets of water on his face.

"Cough! Cough!"

After a long while, the young man who was lying quietly on the ground started to cough violently. At the same time, mouthfuls of clear water, which had a scarlet tint, came out of his mouth.

After coughing a few times, the color of the boy's originally pale face gradually changed. It recovered some of its rosiness before quietly lying down.

This young man was none other than Aiden Gray.

After the resplendent vortex sucked him inside, he was thrown to the edge of this lake. The lake was too cold. Aiden felt his body freezing because of the cold water surface even at the edge of the lake.

"Where is this place?"

Aiden squinted his eyes and looked at the darkness in front of him as he muttered to himself.

After he finished speaking, he suddenly covered his chest. His eyebrows knitted tightly, his eyes closed, and his little face distorted. A sharp pain assaulted his chest.

Aiden could not help but cry out in pain. His breathing hastened and his body also began to tremble.

After some time, Aiden's reaction slowly calmed down, and the pained expression on his face slightly lessened. He looked at his chest and saw a small but sharp stone stuck, causing him to bleed.

The small stone seemed to have pierced into his chest after Aiden was thrown out of the vortex. Fortunately, this stone was small, and it didn't pierce too deep. Otherwise, Aiden would have truly said goodbye to his little life right after crossing a dimension.

Aiden's expression gradually softened as he closed his eyes, allowing himself to fully feel the soreness in his body and the lingering pain in his chest.
