Miss Tudor continued.
"Knights could refine their bodies with mana, then what could Mages do with it?
They can cast spells unlike Knights.
Now don't get me wrong, Knights can cast spells too, but it's very different from what Mages can do both in terms of effects, and their method of doing it.
You will learn about spell casting in another class, so I'm not gonna touch too far on that."
Miss Tudor paused to clear her throat before taking a deep breath, ready for yet another lengthy explanation.
"How do Knights and Mages cultivate exactly? Can somebody give me an answer?"
Several students raised their hands.
Miss Tudor pointed at one of them.
"The girl with the pink hairpin, you."
The girl blushed at the mention of her hairpin and stood up.
"Knights can cultivate 24/7 with passive breathing techniques or cultivate actively which takes a toll on their body, but is several times faster than passive cultivation.
Mages can only cultivate actively but they have a much easier time at doing it thanks to their mana channels.
If taken at face value, their cultivation speeds are roughly the same, but that also depends on how much each individual cultivates as well as their overall talent for cultivation."
*Clap*Clap*
Miss Tudor seemed impressed with the girl.
"Good answer girl, what's your name?"
"Tiffany Louthy."
"I like your answer Tiffany, five points to you.
Remember these points, they're gonna be essential at the final term exams."
Miss Tudor fiddled around with her tablet before continuing.
"Like Miss Louthy said, Knights and Mages cultivate differently and their cultivation speed is based on various factors.
But there's a catch to it. Absorbing the atmosphere's mana isn't the only way you can cultivate.
Knights also have another alternative, pills and elixirs.
Now mana enhancing elixirs are a bit rarer, and certainly more expensive, but pills are a common, efficient and affordable option for all knights to cultivate.
Mana Enhancement pills can increase cultivation speed significantly. Make sure to check the merit shop when you have enough merit points, we have some high quality goods there.
Ahem, anyway. I'm getting offtrack here.
Mages too can cultivate through pills and elixirs but because they're mainly considered an internal type cultivation method it's not really as effective for them, not to mention the price.
Mana Enhancement Supplements are muh more expensive for mages since the supplements have to be tailored for them with rarer, more expensive materials.
But don't worry, Mages still have another way of cultivating and it's through Mana Gems.
We all know what mana crystals are right? The main currency used by magicians.
Well Mana Gems are a superior version of them.
They can only be found in Mana Veins and have both higher quality and quantity mana than mana crystals.
But that alone wouldn't qualify them as a source of mana, otherwise we'd just cultivate using mana crystals instead.
the problem is, mana crystals are diluted by external elements, making them both difficult and unsafe to cultivate with.
This is where Mana Gems come in handy, the much purer Mana Gems that were formed in Mana Veins through hundreds of years of accumulation are a safe and efficient mana source to Mages.
Much like how knights can cultivate using Mana Enhancement Supplements, Mages can enjoy the benefits of Mana Gems.
Sorry to all the Knights though, Mana Gems are just for Mages, they're not sharing.
Not that you could use it even if they shared hahaha."
Nobody laughed.
Miss Tudor had to stop laughing after seeing the kids' soulless reaction.
"Ahem. Anyway, time is almost up so I wanted to talk about one last subject.
Cultivation ranks.
Mana cultivation is divided into six ranks, each rank is further divided into ten stages.
The lighter the shade of your mana, the higher your cultivation level.
From lowest to highest, we have Red, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple and White.
Each rank is divided into ten stages.
For example, you, the knight who's sitting there, don't try to hide i can tell your cultivation level.
You're, ummm a second stage red rank knight aren't you? In proper terms, you'd be a Second Order Knights Apprentice.
You, the girl sitting there. You're at the second stage too aren't you? You're called a Second Ring Mage Apprentice.
Knights and mages get different names based on their rank, pretty cool right?"
*Silence*
Miss Tudor was getting sick and tired of this shit.
Composing herself, she pushed out yet another smile and continued.
"Everytime you break through a substage the quality and quantity of your mana will increase.
You gain new abilities whenever you make a major breakthrough.
For example, everyone will awaken a Sub-Element when they breakthrough to the Orange Stage.
We have many types of sub elements, each based on your main Element.
Hey, you."
Emil looked around.
Was she pointing at him?
"Yeah you, the guy with broken arm, what's your element."
Emil stood erect like a statue.
"I have the Fire element."
"Fire element, what kind of Sub-Element do you think you'll get? Does lightning sound good?"
"Yes Miss! Lightning sounds absolutely great, in fact I'll be fine with any element!"
Emil, was a bit enthusiastic with his answer, garnering himself weird looks.
"Haha although it's a very rare Sub-Element your chances of awakening it aren't zero so don't give up hope yet!
Anyway, i liked your answer, what's your name?"
"Emil Ashdown Miss!"
"Emil Ashdown..."
She searched for his name through her tablet.
"Five points to you young man."
*Ring*Ring*
The first period was already over at this point.
"Oh my it's already time.
That's it for this week guys, hope you learned something new and see you next week."
Miss Tudor didn't waste much time after saying her goodbyes. seemes like she was busy.
Emil was couldn't help but feel excited about the new knowledge.
There was so much to the world of cultivation he didn't know.
There was much more to learn so he was sure to thoughrouly read his textbooks later.
His path was blocked as he was exiting the classroom with those thoughts in his mind.
"We're in the same class so I'll be sure to give you hell this year.
I lost ten desciplinary points because of a fucking loser like you, don't expect to get away lightly."
The boy from yesterday whom he had a scuffle with happened to be in the same class.
Emil couldn't notice him since all his attention was focused on the teacher and the subject at hand.
His threats were effective on Emil as he paled immediately.
The first fight from yesterday was out of anger. He knew he wasn't the boy's match in reality. The Academy's rules could only protect him so much.
Looking at the boy's vengeful expression, he was sure to make trouble for him sooner or later.
Emil was gonna cave in, like he always did when he remembered something.
'No matter how low your talents may be, you can always make up for it with hard work.
You're not inferior to anyone here so don't let others walk over you. can you promise me that?'
Arne's encouraging words sounded out in Emil's head.
He made a promise to someone, and he was gonna honor it even if it meant going against his fears.
So, he mustered all his courage and put on a poker face.
"Hmph, we'll see about that."
The boy whose name was Arthur turned a shade redder than he already was.
Emil quickly walked out of the school building, praying that Arthur doesn't chase after him.
Thankfully, he made it to the school yard safely.
His expression soon turned dark though.
This feeling of relief, for having escaped great danger. It reminded him of his time at the mansion, where he was bullied and harassed by Ricard.
He'd promised himself to get stronger, strong enough to protect himself, so no one could look down on him.
But here he was, thanking god he escaped danger after someone threatened him, just like back at the mansion.
His feeling of self pity gave fire to his determination.
He was gonna get stornger no matter what.
