Chereads / LEGACY OF THE FALLEN FAMILY / Chapter 10 - CHALLENGE

Chapter 10 - CHALLENGE

"What should we do about him?" Vince was sitting on his table, all worried and irritated.

"Calm down first. This type of situation is something we are facing for the first time and we need to take adequate measures to make sure we are able to pass through it without any problem. For that to happen we need to think in a calm way." Rhea said.

"How could he behave like that?" Vince said. " We are his parents who are doing everything in our power to help him. Yet that ungrateful child is behaving as if we are against him. What more does he desires from us? He wasn't able to awaken any kind of talent, yet we decided to support him in our own way. We made him join the best school available and have planned ahead for him to pursue paths which could help not only sustain him but help him progress as well."

"Yet he is denying the very things that has been served on a silver platter to him. Hw is not even trying to make the best out of what was available to him. That is my greatest sorrow. What am I supposed to do?" Vince said while nodding his head in a regretful manner.

"It was no one's fault. He was born during a time where thing were too turbulent for us. We never expected a complication like to appear and hence we can't blame ourselves or him for what happened. You are right to be angry, but he too is right from his side. He could not awaken talent like Sonya and he is facing the consequence of that every day, every moment of his life. Do you think he doesn't understands that? Where does the hesitation to go to school comes from? Why do you think he is bullied? Yet we didn't do anything to try and teach him a lesson."

"We are doing the best we can, and we will continue to do so. He needs to be prepared enough to support Sonya while she takes up the charge to rejuvenate both our family. She has inherited the bloodline of both Avalon and Valeryon. She is a descendant of Ragnar the great. We need to help her bring her legacy back to life. He on the other hand will understand our intentions as well as his duty for our future." Rhea said.

"Just give him some time. I am sure he will go back to school."

Although they consoled each other, something unexpected was happened. Even after five more days passed, Ragnar wasn't coming out of his room. He just came out to eat or to go somewhere out. The rest of the day, he sat in his room, all locked up. The school soon began to contact them to know why Ragnar was skipping. The exams were around the corner, and his attendance was necessary.

While Vince tried his best to be as supportive as he could be, his patient was lost in the fourteenth day.

"This has to stop now." Vince said.

Rhea, who was standing near him also felt lost. Even though they were warriors who worked their ass off for their objectives, she was confused about the handling of this matter.

Vince went up and knocked on Ragnar's door. The door opened up and a figure peeked out.

"What is the matter?" Ragnar asked.

"The school has been contacting us non-stop. You retreat has come to an end. You are going to school tommorow." Vince said.

"As I said, it is just a useless place which isn't going to provide me with anything of value. Why should I waste my time there?" Ragnar said.

"Your performance and grades say otherwise. If you want to justify your action, prove it with results that could support your argument." Vince said.

Ragnar wanted to say something, but he decided not to.

"Very well. I will go to school." Ragnar said. He closed the door behind him and watched the scene inside his room. He was busy cleaning blood from the floor. This was due to his trial at clearing his channels. He began the process just one day ago, and the pain which followed, almost caused a black out. Yet he managed to somehow persist through it. A small portion of his channels were cleared. But something interesting happened.

"The mana channels of the host has been cleansed. Mana +2"

When he excavated a small amount of his blocked mana channels, he was able to recive two additional stats along with what he alredy possessed. Another outcome was the increase in Bloodline purity. Even the system was showing increase of bloodline content in his blood as well as it's purity.

Ragnar chose to diffuse the situation with the school first before proceeding to the next step. His schedule was changed as he was going to train along with going to school for some days. If he had to prove his ability through results, he was going to do just that.

.....

The next day-

Ragnar walked along with Sonya into the school. Although they were almost of the same age, the school had a clear division of students in terms of their ability. While Sonya was part of the core group, called Alpha class, Ragnar was part of the Delta class, the class thought to be the weakest of all.

Ragnar separated from her once they entered the building.

"If anyone tries to find a problem with you, just call me." Sonya said.

"I could handle them myself. No need to bother you. You just concentrate on your studies." Ragnar said as he left for his class. Sonya was left behind, thinking that the incidents till now must have affected Ragnar. He did not even wanted to ask for her help. This was an unfortunate situation.

Ragnar arrived at his class, where everyone looked at him with surprise. The incident of him breaking the elf's arm was fresh in all their minds. They avoided him and he went on to sit at a bench, trying to remember all the details regarding the proceedings at school. It was at this time that a voice was heard.

"Are you Ragnar Avalon?" The voice asked.

Ragnar turned around to face the source. It was a boy if medium build. He was tall for his age and had a average face. But it was smeared with anger as of now.

" What if I am?" Ragnar looked at him before dismissing it completely. This wasn't even a competiton for him.

"I am Pierce's brother."

"Who is Pierce?" Ragnar asked.

The boy's face changed once again, as anger was visible clearly. He grabbed his gloves, took them out and threw it at Ragnar.

"I challenge you to a duel." The boy said while throwing his gloves at Ragnar. This was the offical way of challenging someone.
