Ankita stretched on the bed, yawning. Mr Chakraborty had strictly told her to rest early that day for faster recovery.
She had not intended to tell her parents about her injuries, but Koushik stubbornly waited for their return, and only left after Subhashish examined her. That got her and Koushik a round of questions but thankfully he answered most of them. Had it been her alone, she would have definitely slipped something up. He hid the real reason behind her wounds, but gave her a warning side eye before leaving. It meant that he would tell them about the bullying if she did not do so herself or stay at home to rest. Ankita pouted in response. She knew Koushik was not kidding. But staying in bed all day was so very difficult. Why did no one understood that?
After Koushik, left there was another round of scoldings for her carelessness. Now that she was in bed with nothing to do, she felt sleepy. Well, the day was quite eventful.
She hugged her bolster and turned about, trying to find a comfortable position. Just as she found the perfect spot and was about to close her eyes, a buzzing sound rang in her ear. A vein popped up on her temple. Olivia brought her left arm from under the pillow and slapped the watch. A screen emerged on top of it, displaying two handsome faces. One of them had brown hair, while the other had black hair with a blonde underlayer. The former was leaning his head on the latter's shoulder, while the latter hugged his waist. Olivia looked at them blankly.
"If you called me to show off your love then you can f*ck off."
She was about to cut the call when the guy with a blonde underlayer spoke up.
"Hey, wait. I just called to check how our damsel in distress is faring." Abhirup said with a devilish grin.
Olivia's lips twitched.
"How are you, dear sis?" He said in a sickeningly sweet voice.
He did not forget how Olivia ruined his night that day. Now, it was his chance to avenge his dignity. Olivia glared through the screen.
"Hey, enough. Stop it." Surjo flicked his head.
Abhirup looked at him with an aggrieved look, saying, "You're abandoning your hubby for your best friend?"
"Cut it out, who's my hubby?" Surjo flicked his forehead again, this time harder.
But he could feel his ears burn at those words.
"Me," Abhirup said proudly, snuggling his face in the crook of Surjo's neck.
"I've already had my dinner. Even if I hadn't, I wouldn't eat dog food, nonetheless. You can feed that to Tweet, she would appreciate it," Olivia said as a matter of fact.
"Don't worry about that. We're already feeding him more than enough of that."
Abhirup looked at their Newfoundland, sleeping peacefully, snoring in her bed.
Surjo's face turned slightly red. He also looked at Tweet's sleeping face with a loving gaze.
"Poor girl. Even she's getting tired from your PDA," Olivia said with a sigh.
"Anyways, we're diverting from the main point. Why did you call?"
The same thing happened every time she was talking with her buddies – diverting from what they were originally supposed to talk about.
"It's him. He wanted to talk to you, I'm gonna sleep." Abhirup turned the phone towards his boyfriend and nestled in his lap.
Surjo looked at his face affectionately and stroked his mane.
Then, he looked up at the screen and wiggled his brows playfully, "How's it at your end? When will you be back? It shouldn't take so long for you to solve this simple thing. It's more like a vacation for you. What's going on?"
Given the difficulty of the case, none of them would be needed to personally stay there for days to solve it. It's just that their Administrator General, Birendra Kumar Ghosh, treated them as his children, especially Olivia. And he wanted her to have a vacation through this case and specifically ordered Parijat and Ritutandra to watch that she really treats it so. Otherwise, she would bury herself in another work after wrapping it up with a snap of her fingers.
Staying among Commoners could help her relax a little. In a different environment, with an easy mission, she could forget about work for a while. Concerned about their workaholic friend, they agreed to his plan. But due to that, their group was incomplete. They missed the three of them.
"What's going on indeed." Olivia said, almost in a whisper.
Several images flashed before her eyes. But each of them involved one person. A tall curly haired boy, who is a rising star in the country. Those black eyes radiating with determination to become the number one band in India, his flirty smile, protective behaviour, that melodious voice... Olivia looked lost in thoughts for a while.
"I just found something interesting." She said, her expression back to indifferent.
But Surjo caught that look on her face, even if it lasted just a few seconds.
He arched his brow and said, "Something?... Or someone?"
Olivia was a little startled when he said it like that.
She scowled and shook her head, "It's nothing important. I'll tell you about it once I'm back. Now go to bed and let me get some sleep too."
"Good night captain." Surjo shrugged and waved.
Olivia nodded and disconnected the call. Then, heaved a sigh and laid flat on her back. She stared at the ceiling, numerous thoughts swirled in her mind. Slowly her eyelids became heavy. Her hand subconsciously went to the small gold ring on her ear.
