Wants for Dinner

The dishes for Ruby and Vince Hong had just arrived since they were the last to come. Big Master Hong, seeing this, said to both of them, "You two eat, just hand River over here."
Ruby then passed River from her lap to her husband.
"Now, you two eat first." Big Master Hong was now holding River, but it turned out the little boy didn't feel comfortable in his father's lap.
The child started to whimper softly and wouldn't be calmed by Big Master Hong.
Seeing this situation, Vince Hong quickly finished half of his food and said, "Let me, Pa." He extended both hands towards River, who was about to cry because he was fussy.
However, Big Master Hong replied, "You haven't finished your food, son." Big Master Hong glanced at his eldest son's plate, which still had half of his meal left.
He felt reluctant to see his eldest son eat so little.
