Kit's [POV]
"Not a chance."
After I left Mason and Millie, I came up to my room, put on Butch's t-shirt, and collapsed into the bed for a nap. I woke up to a knock on the door. I looked through the peephole and saw Butch leaning against the wall, holding up a pair of boots.
"Not a chance for what?" he says, raising his eyebrows as a smile spreads all over his face.
"I'm not hiking again. You might as well give those boots back to Claire right now."
He pushes the boots into my chest and kisses the top of my head. "Why would I give these to Claire when I just bought them for you?"
I narrow my eyes as I look up at him. "Why did you buy me boots?"
"Because you'll need them when you move back here." He pulls me into the room and closes the door. "Didn't you say hiking was going to be one of our courting things?"
"Yes, but I thought the courting was canceled. Didn't you say you needed alone time?"
