Volume 01: Start Again
Chapter 11: Take her
Approaching the nearest wolf, I knew I now needed to at least heavily injure one of the remaining wolves that way I could draw all their remaining attention away from the little girl whom it seemed the largest silver wolf was guarding.
'Hidden Fist.' Arriving before the wolf I knew my previous tactic of just attacking head-on would not work as the wolves would mostly likely just dodge and stall for time. Knowing this I knew I had to use the fighting style I developed from my last life to get at least one stun strike on the creature.
Punching forward at the mouth of the wolf I watched closely as its hips began to shift before me.
'Left.' Noticing the shift left my previous fist which seemed like it had been moving straight was not flowing a couple of feet to its left side now about to make contact with the right eye socket of the creature.
Knocking the head of the wolf downwards pushing through the eye socket I could hear the small scampering of the wolf as it was forced to the floor by my blow.
*Thud*

[Time Lock Triggered]
Looking downwards towards the wolf I realized its body was stuck and was not moving as its head lay on the stone floor.
'This is my opportunity to knock one out before the others can coordinate their attacks.' Flashing through my mind this thought triggered me to immediately pull my other fist downward and punch directly downwards on the top of the skull of the frozen wolf.
[-7 Blunt Damage]
[-9 Blunt Damage]
My fist contacted the top of the stiffened wolf forcing its head to take the full blow of my attack not allowing the wolf to mitigate the damage by flowing with the punches.
[Time Lock Triggered]
Seeing this message my face contorted as all of a sudden, I felt bad for the frozen wolf as it could not move as I continued to rain down punches onto the top of its skull.

After the third punch, the frozen body of the wolf slammed down into the stone floor.
*THUD*
The skull of the wolf now dripping with blood as it lay against the cobblestone ground. Watching as a small puddle of blood began to form around the wolf a series of notifications began to flood my vision.

As these messages popped up a slight amount of joy lit up on my face as I now knew that if I could fight these wolves one on one, I could kill a couple more before the ones I sent away return.
*AWOO*
*AWOOO*
A series of howls came out as soon as the other wolves in the vicinity saw their companion dead on the floor. Watching their demeanors change to become a lot more hostile all the wolves around me abandoned their previously clean formation and began to rush toward me including the larger alpha wolf.
'Fuck.' Seeing the red eyes of the wolves around me I knew this was the time to act.
"Take the girl!" Screaming out to the young man who was previously swinging his large staff blindly at the distant wolves trying to keep them at bay. Standing alone now I watched as he ran to the little girl picking her up and taking her away.
From the point I watched the young man place the little girl into his chest and begin running away I knew I was now all alone. Now it was time to just survive.
'System auto place stats.'. I made sure to auto-place my empty stats using the system as I currently did not have the time to place them myself.

Looking past these transparent messages I watched as two wolves leaped forward baring their fangs at me.
'I am going to have to take one of these bites.' Seeing that both wolves were still too well coordinated even in their rage I had to choose which attack I would take using the pushback to try and escape. Looking between the two wolves I made my choice and lunged towards the rightmost wolf dodging the outstretched claw of the left one. But as I missed that claw attack, I immediately raised my arm to take the attack of the remaining wolf using my forearm to take the full brunt of the damage to the armor.
[-14 Piercing Damage]
Even with the chainmail armor, I could still feel the sharp sensation of the fangs scratching at my bones leaving small indentions in them.
Feeling this, I let out a small grunt before I felt the full pushing force of the wolf as I flew a couple of meters backward landing on my back.
Now with some distance between us, I pulled myself up. There was no time to waste as the wolves quickly began moving back to surround me again, but before they could I turned around and began running.
'Shelter…shelter. I need a small space to fight.' Turning my back on the wolves I ran as fast as I could to the nearest building. Seeing that the nearest building was only a couple of meters from the entrance of the gate I headed straight for it. Moving to the entrance of the building I entered the broken building to immediately notice that the dark ashen light was illuminating the inside of the building as the roof had a large hole in the middle of it. Not having long to examine the rest of the room clearly a large wolf came crashing through the front entrance where I had just entered from.
*GRRRR*
The large wolf stared at me at the entrance thankfully it was big enough to block the doorway so more wolves could not file in behind it. My chances in this one versus one are very high if I can keep it like this.
During my thoughts, the large silver wolf began to stalk down watching me closely moving to try and clear the doorway.
There was no way I could let this happen as the current situation was one, I would like to keep.
Pushing the situation, I made sure to cut off the movement of the wolf forcing it back to its original position making it keep its backside to the small broken doorframe. Watching me match its movement the large wolf began to crouch into an attacking position.
Lightly snapping out the large wolf began trying to move me back. Not heeding it that much I began my assault on the wolf as I wanted to pin the wolf down.
Pushing myself off the right wall I propelled myself towards the wolf quickly. Watching the minute details of the wolf I noticed the bending of the neck as it positioned its body to bite out at me dealing a large amount of damage.
As I moved through the air, I kicked out my left leg and pushed off the stone flooring of the building changing my direction and pushing me higher into the air moving above the outstretched mouth of the wolf. As I moved in the changed direction the wolf that had bitten out at me was now suddenly frozen as it watched my movement change to be above its head.
Making the right decision I was able to come down on the crown of the large wolf's skull with a single punch with my right fist. As I made contact with the top of the skull, I could feel my fist move through the thick fur of the wolf and move to smash into the hard skull.
[-12 Blunt Damage]
[Confusion Triggered]
'Hmm, no Time lock proc well at least the location created slight confusion. This will help me.' Now landing on top of the wolf I dug my fingers into the fur to stabilize my position. Raising my fist once again I started smashing down rotating my hands to keep myself on top of the wolf.

[Time Lock Triggered]
[-8 Blunt Damage]
With the wolf frozen I continued my brutal attack from above. With one more punch to the top of the skull, I felt the wolf's skull begin to cave in and my hands became redder and redder as they lifted to smash down once again.

Feeling the rupture of the skull below my fist the body of the wolf staggered and then slumped over to land on its side. Falling along with the body of the wolf I made sure to separate myself to not be caught under the large body of the wolf. Now lying on the floor, I looked over at the bleeding skull of the wolf only to notice that the scampering of several wolves could be heard behind the large body.
'No time.' Peeking over to the doorway I saw several wolves already trying to squeeze in through the doorway.
Looking around the room quickly I noticed a fractured wooden door that seemed to lead to the back of the house. Picking myself up back onto my feet I began making my way toward the wooden door. Swinging the door open I slipped in and then closed it behind me. To my surprise, once I looked around to where I thought the room would be I was shocked to find that the room was practically nonexistent as I could see right into the back alleyway.
*AWOOO*
From behind me, I heard the howling of the wolves as they must have discovered their dead leader on the floor. Quickly rushing through the rubble, I hurdled the low collapsed wall and made my way into the back alleyway of the home.
Looking around at all the other surrounding buildings I decided to stick outside for a while until I found somewhere more reliable to hide out for the time being as my health was already close to going.
Dashing through the alleyway I made my way to the end of it and turning back to where I had come from, I noticed the wolves were already making their way over the stone wall and were about to look down the alleyway towards me.
Seeing this I immediately moved around the corner out of the alleyway and made my way onto a wide street. Pushing my back against the doorway at the edge of the building around the alleyway's corner I watched as more wolves were already coming from further down the street. 'How unlucky.'
As I could hear the sniffing of the wolves closing in on my position. Letting out a soft breath I peeked my head around the small doorway I was leaning against to check the street once more.
Seeing that wolves were almost on top of my position I moved to get out of the doorway and begin moving out towards the street to attempt an escape, but before I could I felt something grab ahold of the back of my shirt. Frightened I shifted sideways and brought an elbow down at whatever was trying to latch onto me, but as I turned, I noticed what was holding onto me was a human hand coming from a small opening on the other side of the door my back had been pushed against. Stopping my motion, I looked up to see the wrinkly face of an old woman pulling at my shirt.
"Come in quickly." The old woman whispered as she opened the door just enough for me to pass through.
