CHAPTER 96
Standing close to the bed in Claire's room, Zale gazed down at the wound on Cairo's hand with a strange expression on his face.
Neither Claire nor Pearl deemed it worthy to break his concentration. Standing patiently by his side, both ladies waited patiently until he spoke.
For Zale, laying eyes on that wound threw him down memory lane and he was instantly reminded of those similar black lines.
"Mother," he let out in a whisper, recalling the same injury on her chest when they arrived at the sacred room.
"Huh?" Claire barely questioned but kept a firm look at her brother's injury. "What did you say?"
"He's poisoned," Zale stated.
"What!" Claire half yelled. "Poisoned?" She added, questioningly.
She fell on her knees and placed her hand over Cairo's body.
Ever since they came in, he had found it weak to speak but seeing Claire that way, his heart clenched tightly.
